The panoramic sunroof gets stuck in the open position and also the motor makes a clicking sound. It is not opened all the way hardly at all, maybe 5 times a year if that. The problem is all over the internet and the dealerships routinely denies any knowledge of it and wants anywhere from 7k to more to fix the entire roof. This is very unprofessional and should not be swept under the rug. Reports of cheap bolts and screws also show a lack of concern for owner safety and usage.

POWER TRAIN
I bought this car a couple of years ago. I didnt think much of it because I never owned a Toyota. I noticed that the transmission was doing some weird hesitation when going from 1st to 2nd gear. There is an intermittent lag on when the transmission kicks in. You can actually feel the car stutter into the 1st and 2nd gear. Also, while driving on the highway at a steady pace, the transmission has a delayed gear that kicks in out of nowhere. It feels like it goes up a gear without accelerating. It feels like a gear is catching up to where it is supposed to be. I plan on having the transmission looked at by the Toyota dealer.

The contact stated that while she was driving at approximately 75 MPH, another vehicle had rear-ended the passenger side rear bumper at approximately 80 MPH while her two kids were occupying the 2nd row seats. The contact mentioned that the other vehicle was performing car racing on the freeway, which was the reason why the impact was at high speed. No warning lights illuminated. The Air Bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sought medical attention for left arm, neck, and hip pain. The contact managed to pull over to the shoulder of the road, whereupon further inspection, the rear passenger tire was damaged during the impact. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard, where it remains for further investigation. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

We have purchased a used 2025 Toyota Camry from Elgin Toyota in Illinois on 2/28/2026. On Friday, March 6, 2026, at approximately 11:50 AM, my husband, [XXX] , left his place of employment (Amazon in [XXX] ). While traveling southbound on the interstate at highway speed, the rear bumper cover suddenly detached from the vehicle and flew off. He safely pulled off the interstate at approximately 12:26 PM and called me in a panic to explain what had happened. I immediately asked if he had struck any road debris or run over anything while driving. He confirmed that he had not. This occurred after the Highway XX exit in [XXX] and before any [XXX] exits on the interstate. When [XXX] was still driving, he saw in his rear view mirror a semi-truck had run over the bumper cover, making it unsafe for him to retrieve any remaining pieces from the roadway. I instructed him to return home immediately and park the vehicle safely under our carport. Following this incident, I contacted two separate body shops to obtain repair estimates. Both shops expressed significant concern and stated they had never seen a bumper cover simply detach from a vehicle under normal driving conditions—especially on a recently purchased vehicle that should have been inspected prior to sale. One body shop owner specifically advised that we contact the dealership immediately, as this type of issue should not occur if the vehicle had been properly inspected. Frankly, I am extremely concerned and alarmed by this situation. We had been in possession of the vehicle for less than one week. If this had occurred during heavy traffic or rush hour, the detached bumper could have caused a serious accident or injury to other drivers on the interstate. For documentation purposes, I do have Ring camera footage showing the 2024 Toyota Camry leaving our home on the morning of March 6, 2026, at 6:19 AM with the bumper cover intact. The moonroof spontaneously shattered when I was driving on the freeway which sounded like a gunshot. There were no external factors such as debris from other vehicles and the temperature outside was relevantly constant at about 78F. No other cars were close to me or in front of me. For almost the entire 2 years I had my car, nothing has ever damaged the moonroof glass. I do want to note an observation that may or may not be linked to the potential safety defect: I do recall hearing strange pebble-like noises occasionally on the freeway & off the freeway at speeds of ~35-65 mph. It sounds like crumbs falling down the sides/top of the car in a horizontal pattern. I observed this as early as 1 month into ownership. Upon closer inspection after stopping to inspect my vehicle, the glass shows to have shattered/blew up & outward in cube shaped pieces and the pattern of the glass appears spiderweb-like, not originating from an impact point. The fracture pattern of the remaining glass appears to match a smooth edge breakage pattern which indicates stress failure due to a spontaneous glass breakage. The dealer has denied coverage due to the technician 'finding no evidence of structural damage.' Yet, my moonroof shattered upwards and there is not evidence of an impact crater. My car is still under warranty and under 2 years old and currently is only at about 20,500 miles. The dealership quoted me ~ $2500+$185 diagnostic. I will be elevating to Toyota corporate to request a closer inspection. Based on research, I discovered numerous reports of similar spontaneous sunroof failures in Toyota vehicles. The failure presents a high risk for public safety because the glass could fall into the eyes and face of the driver at highway speed. Additionally, drivers could be startled & swerve on the road at high & low speeds, on the freeway/streets. There were no warning signs/alerts. One moment I was driving to work on the quiet road & the next I heard what sounded like a gunshot.

While the contact’s wife was inside the parked vehicle and attempting to open the sunroof, there was an abnormal sound coming from the sunroof while attempting to close it. The motor to open the sunroof was covered and made a sound; however, the sunroof failed to close. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the rail had seized. The contact was advised that the sunroof assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the paint on the vehicle was damaged during production. When the vehicle was transported, the contact noticed that the paint had spots. The dealer was unable to repair the vehicle since the damage occurred during production. The dealer replaced the vehicle with another 2025 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that when the vehicle had the windows tinted, the employee noticed that the front bumper was loose and was pushed back into place. However, the failure persisted. The bumper was pushed back into place several times, but the failure recurred, and the contact was informed that the mounting tabs in the bumper were weak. The driver’s side brackets and the bumper were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the front bumper was not aligned and was still loose. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the contact was informed that no other fix was available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that a case manager would be sent to inspect the vehicle. The case manager found a tear in the rubber and filed a Lemon Law case on behalf of the contact. The contact was informed that the Lemon Law case was denied and closed. The contact stated that the failure persisted, and the front bumper looked misaligned. The failure mileage was approximately 6.

I am filing a complaint regarding my 2023 Toyota Camry with 23,375 miles. The vehicle has been diagnosed with an infotainment system failure that presents identical symptoms to an active recall affecting similar vehicles. Toyota has confirmed my VIN is not included in the recall campaign, despite the failure matching the recall description. The dealership has documented the defect, and Toyota approved only 50% goodwill assistance. The system malfunction affects core vehicle functions controlled through the infotainment interface, creating driver distraction and potential safety concerns. I am concerned that vehicles outside the current VIN range are experiencing the same defect and that the recall population may be too narrowly defined. I am requesting review of this issue to determine whether additional vehicles, including mine, should be included in the recall. I have attached the diagnostic invoice for the dealership to confirm no updates or repairs could be performed and a new infotainment system would be required at an out of pocket cost of 50% of $2277.87.
