Vehicles engine suddenly and without warning began knocking while crusing down the interstate, within 30 seconds of the sudden knocking the engine was locked up on the side of the road. After reading i have found thousands of other cases just like mine where there cummins 5 liter diesels have suddenly and without warning locked up while traveling down the road. All maintenance was done on time by nissan technicians. Milage for my specific instance was 101,056. Nissan refused to warranty and dealer ended up out of pocketing most of the repair. And Nissan continues to ignore that there is a serious issue with these engines, and after doing more research i have found litterally thousands of cases just like mine, and anywhere from 1000 miles on up through 150,000 miles with some instances happening up to 5 repeated times before the vehicle reaches 100,000 miles. The repair itself cost upward of $23,000, and dealerships and technicians seemly know nothing of said issue even though a quick search online shows case after case of peoples nissan titan diesels unexpected locking up while traveling down the road and in some cases causing the drivetrain to lock up as well suddenly and abruptly stopping there vehicle, potentially causing an accident. More often than not though nissan is leaving these customers like myself high and dry on the side of busy interstate while they continue to hide the fact that there product is defect and potentially unsafe. I was fortunately to have a great dealership that took care of me and got me off the side of the road, but many arent. In most cases including mine these vehicle display a crank position sensor code, and then shortly there after the crankshaft breaks in half and often times sends large pieces of metal flying out of the engine block shortly before locking up completely. I was fortunate and mine did not throw large pieces of metal out but many are not, and these large pieces of metal often pierce the vehicles tires and those behind

My 2021 Pro4x Titan with 6,400 miles has on numerous occasions not shifted up and out of 1st gear despite being in typical Drive, automatic transmission. I have owned the truck for just over 1 year and I have noticed this 10+ times when moving at slower speeds. I generally shift into Neutral and enter Drive again, which fixes the issue.

Attempted to shift vehicle into four wheel drive high mode. 4WD error message appeared in center display, as well as traction control and ABS warning indicators. 4WD was inoperative. Attempted to shift into four wheel drive high multiple times, with no success. Not sure if the traction control and ABS warning indicators are actually indicating that these systems are inoperative or not. These warnings stay on after switching back to 2WD mode, and are only extinguished after the engine is shut off and restarted. I believe the lack of 4WD can be considered a safety issue depending on the weather conditions and where the vehicle is located when this failure occurs. Dealer confirmed issue, and is replacing the transfer case, under warranty. I did a bit of research on an internet forum covering this vehicle, and found that others have had this same issue, and it has been identified as a broken shift fork in the transfer case.

- #11446772January 9, 2022AIR BAGS
In a low speed wreck (15mph or less) the air bag deployed sending the metal clip, holding the plastic Nissan emblem at the center of the steering wheel, flying. Hitting me right next to my eye at a very high rate of speed. Causing trauma to my eye and surrounding tissue. Missing my eye by less than an inch. If I would have been looking straight ahead instead of slightly to the right where the collision was, I would have lost my eye. How did this manufacturer allowed a piece of metal be installed in front of the air bag is mind boggling. Air bags deploy at speeds of 200mph, launching anything in front of them at that speed. I was very lucky, I hope this agency can warn everyone who owns a Nissan vehicle with this design of a metal clip holding the emblem at the center of the steering wheel. I have photos of the emblem, clip, steering wheel, air bag, and my injury showing exactly how/where the clip hit me by the cuts it left on my face in the shape of the clip. I tried to upload photos but received an error from the website. If you could contact me I would like to send you the photos. They prove without a doubt the facts started above. Purchased vehi le with 2000 miles on it. Vehicle shifts very rough. When the transmission downshifts to stop it will bump or lerch forward. If you are not expecting it the truck will go forward. There is a lot of lag while accelerating. Dealer looked over vehicle and worked with Nissan to check several things. The dealer techs all noticed the problem. They compared it to a new one and tne new one did the same thing. It is a little frustrating because it acts like a damaged worn out transmission although the vehicle has very little miles and is babied.
