Coolant pipe under intake manifold made of plastic leaking, could have caused engine overheating and failure in traffic conditions. New style pipe supplied by manufacturer is now made of steel, dealer had in stock indicating a repetitive problem.

ENGINE
Coolant hose was rubbing on the drive shaft and at 4,931 miles the coolant hose failed and the vehicle lost all coolant from the system. Fortunately the hose failed after the car was driven into our garage and not on the open highway. We had just returned from a 1,000 mile trip to Nashville, TN from Winston-Salem, NC. This is a PHEV and the coolant also effects the temperature of the EV batteries. This was a improper installation of the coolant hose. I have attached a picture that I took of the hose showing the rubbing on the drives shaft. I have also included a copy of the repair to the car that is properly installed. The repair was done under warranty. The vehicle had to be towed and according to Mercedes service department was not drivable even though the EV battery was fully charged.

Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness
Got a notice of a recall on the Nuna Rava and was told to order a remedy kit right away. I also checked to make sure the harness was locking in place. It was not and the car seat was unsafe to use. I order the remedy kit 2 weeks ago. Was told it was sent out and kept emailing to find out the status. I finally ask to have a supervisor call me as we could not take my [XXX] son in our car anywhere. The supervisor informed me that the remedy kit was not mailed out and that they were back ordered with no ETA in the near term. Now I have a dangerous and defective car seat and the manufacturer will not reimburse me for a new one, send me a new replacement seat, or even provide me with a remedy kit in a timely manner. This is completely unacceptable and I’ve lost complete trust and confidence in this manufacturer’s ability to make a defective dangerous car seat right. The service was awful, stressful, and all together putting my [XXX] life in danger. I’m genuinely hoping that a government agency can be my last chance of hope before I have to go out and spend another $)50 on a new car seat when I just purchased this one 18 months ago. The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE350. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal sound was coming from the steering box. No warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. In addition, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V241000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
When operated with driver assist and stop and go assist, the car, often slams the brakes for no reason in the middle of the highway. I have reported this problem multiple times to the dealership and the dealership has kept the car in for investigation multiple times sometimes for more than two weeks. They were able to replicate the problem, but they had absolutely no solution. It’s been a few years now and it keeps happening. This is a liability issue us cars behind me are at risk to collide.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
While driving our 2017 MB GLE 350-4matic at about 40 mph, it spontaneously downshifted to M1. We were in traffic, so this was a very dangerous for us and for the people behind us. We limped to our destination, not knowing what had happened or what to do. When we re-started the car the next day, it seemed ok. But after driving some distance, it spontaneously downshifted to M1 again. We stopped the car, turned it off and re-started it. My mechanic checked the car with his analyzer, which showed that the transmission was not transmitting/displaying gear changes. I am taking my car to another repair shop tomorrow that has a more sophisticated analyzer. When I first explored this problem on the web, there was discussion on a MB website about similar problems. Today, I saw that there is an NHTSA probe into 2015-17 Ford 150 pick-ups having a similar problem to mine, i.e., spontaneous downshifting. Maybe there is a chip problem in the transmission control module for cars of those years. This is a significant safety issue. Thank God we were going 40 mph and not 60 or 70 when this happened.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
Mercedes Benz 2016 GLE450 AMG Coupe Backup Camera issue. The software problems cause backup camera to go blank /black screen. It does this randomly, it can worked for few weeks to a month, then suddenly just goes blank/black when the gear is in reverse (R). I have made complained to Mercedes Benz dealer when the issue first started and I was told that the year of my vehicle is not listed in the recall that was issued for the Mercedes Benz with backup camera issues, the recall was listed for 2019-2021. I was told that I have to wait until there is a recall for the 2016 GLE450 AMG Coupe.

Was at a red light turning right, as soon as I turned right the engine lost power, and the car would not move. Since I am pressing the gas pedal all I can hear is revving noise, but the car was not moving. Since my foot was on the gas and not the brakes the person behind me was not aware that my car was not moving forward. The car behind me was barely able to avoid crashing into me and swerved around me. The driver behind me was lucky that there were no cars on his left. The service technician at the dealer informed me that the problem with the engine type that I have is very common. I called Mercedes and was told there is nothing they can do. They should issue a voluntary recall or at least warn drivers and compensate them for repairs needed or was done. There is a flaw in the design of the V167 2.0 engine and Mercedes is aware of it. The contact owns a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE350 4Matic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and coming to a stop, the contact heard a loud sound coming from the rear end of vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the rearview camera was inoperable. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer for further assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 800.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
I have a 2020 GLE 350 and today, I was turning into a parking on my right. I stopped my car, switched the cameras, so I could see the parking slot on the screen. Just when I took the right turn into the slot, the car accelerated at the same angle and jumped onto the curb. I tried hard to brake, but the brake was not working. I had the presence of mind to press the Park button on the gear lever and then the car stopped. No car damage or no injury, but it was a close call. I called 911 and the Johns Creek police helped me to get the car back in the parking lot,. A police report was not filed

GLE 450e Plug In-Hybrid. Car went into ‘Turtle Mode’ on Saturday March 8th for no known reason. Turtle Light and Check Engine warning lights came on and there was a warning message “Significant Reduction in Power”. My understanding this is a vehicle initiated precaution when something triggers the vehicle to go into reduced power mode. This all happened after the car had been driven on the highway for about 2.5 hours. It was running in gas engine mode since the battery power had been off for 1.5hrs. It was also about 30F in VT that day. The turtle mode came on as soon as we exited the highway. The vehicle was drivable, but there was almost no acceleration from 0-20mph. Once the car was above 25 mph and 2k RPM’s it could run 40-60mph but it had no brisk acceleration. When we stopped at lights, the poor acceleration continued all the way to our destination (so it ran 1.5 hours in Turtle Mode). But this is certainly a flow of traffic issue as the car pulls away from stops at a very slow and deliberate speed forcing other drivers to alter their driving. When we parked the car at our destination both the Turtle warning light and check engine light were still illuminated. Several hours later for our 4-hour return trip back from VT, when we started the car the check engine light was on but the Turtle warning indicator was off. The car appeared to run normally in ICE mode but we didn’t push it hard. Towards the end of our trip after we stopped for gas, the check engine light stayed off.

Engine harness wires insulation is falling apart very early after 3 years. It’s causing arching inside the insulation. Issues is from overheating and can cause a fire. Isolation needs to be upgraded and wire harness needs replaced.

SERVICE BRAKES, SEAT BELTS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
When driving on a quiet, straight road with no other cars anywhere nearby the vehicle suddenly slammed on the brakes until the car came to a complete stop. The seat belt pre-tensioners also activated and there were loud audible warning beeping and red "radar" images on the dashboard. My safety was not at risk in this instance however if the same thing happened while I was being followed then I'd be a risk from being hit from behind. I frequently travel on busy interstates and it scares me to think that this could happen again. The system also activated three times when backing out of my driveway, again nothing was around. I have taken the car to the dealer, Carlton Mercedes-Benz in Greenville, SC, twice and they have failed to find anything wrong with it so made no changes. This leaves me with little confidence in the vehicle. The dealer was not forthcoming about the details of what checks they actually did. Please see above for info on the other warnings etc. that activated during the event.

EZS module and PTCU module failed and caused check engine light. Dealer was unable to read trouble codes and could only reset it. They replaced the modules. This is a safety issue for me and the dealer said I could only sell the car back, they refused to refund my full purchase of the vehicle. I lost about $14k just for owning this vehicle for 2 weeks.

My Mercedes gle350 2021 is having a cylinder misfire. I had the repairs done last February. Carlton Mercedes acknowledged this is a known issue with this car. Did some googling and saw how big of an issue this is in this car. Repairs were made and now a year later cylinder misfire again! My neighbor has the same car but 2022 having the same issue currently. This needs to be recalled. Mercedes needs to be held accountable for this issue. It’s costing people anywhere from 7-15,000 dollars to repair and most of these cars only have around 50,000 miles on them! It’s insane!!

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
This has previously been reported, but NHTSA email indicated I needed to file formal complaint. Fuel injector(s) leaked while vehicle parked overnight in driveway. ECU detected fuel and subsequent ignition/spark caused "explosion' blowing out engine intake manifold (appx 50-75 pieces found). All 6 injectors and intake manifold required replacement. Mercedes Benz does have recall notification for failed/leaking fuel injectors, which includes both my model, and model year- but has claimed my VIN is not covered. MB recall campaign # 2022030003, dated 04/22/2022. I have retained engine intake manifold (main piece) for inspection. Fuel injectors were returned to MB. Safety risk is relatively obvious due to "explosion" and potential fire. Independent service agency (German Motors, Lakewood, CO- in business for over 25 years as MB only repair agency) diagnosed and performed repairs. Further, they informed me that in the investigation, they an other independent repair agencies/shops have in fact seen this before. No warnings, lights, or other symptoms were evident prior to injectors leaking.

VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:LINKAGES
The contact owns a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE350. The contact stated while driving at various speeds in the rain after purchasing the vehicle brand new, the windshield wipers failed to clean the windshield as needed while moving downward, creating reduced visibility of the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on two occasions. The dealer informed the contact that during the windshield's downward movement, water was pulled back onto the windshield from the A-pillars. The dealer advised the contact that it was a windshield wiper factory design defect and no technical remedy had been provided by the manufacturer currently. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 0.
