- #11751131July 17, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I had my oil changed and mechanic noted both my fuel tank belly pans were heavily corroded, which was odd for a garaged car with lower miles. They recommended reaching out to my dealership since this is a pressing issue that likely should include a recall or warranty. When I researched the issue, it's a known Range Rover Sport design issue, a 2019 should not have this much corrosion and it sounds like condensation pools. Also, the mechanic noted that this likely has been happening for a while. The RI Range Rover dealership inspected my car in August 2025, and didn't flag any issues.

There as been a recall on this Range Rover for 1 year with no remedy. Range Rover customer service offers no answers or help. Dealership inspects vehicles at no cost. How ever with out the recall being fixed this vehicle is useless and unsafe. How long is it resonance to wait for a remedy. Over a year is far too long something needs to be done.

Safety Complaint Regarding Coolant Leak – Same Defect as Recall N785 Vehicle: 2019 Range Rover Sport | VIN: [XXX] Description of Problem: My vehicle is experiencing a persistent and significant coolant loss. Upon inspection by my mechanic/dealer, the failure was diagnosed as a leaking coolant pipe/elbow connected to the turbocharger system. This is the exact component and failure mode described in Land Rover Safety Recall N785, which addresses a coolant elbow rupture that can leak fluid onto hot engine components and cause an engine fire. Despite having the identical part failure on my vehicle, my VIN is not listed under the current recall scope. Safety Concern: I am extremely concerned about the fire risk and the potential for sudden engine overheating while driving at highway speeds. I have already had to repeatedly refill the coolant just to operate the vehicle safely. I believe the recall population should be expanded to include my vehicle, as the defect clearly exists outside the current VIN range. Actions Taken: I contacted a Land Rover dealer, but they refused to cover the repair because my VIN is not on the active recall list. Safety Complaint Regarding Engine Oil Leak – Same Defect as Recall N763 (23V044000) Vehicle: 2019 Range Rover Sport | VIN: [XXX] Description of Problem: My vehicle is experiencing an oil leak from the engine area. Upon inspection by my mechanic/dealer, the failure was diagnosed as a blocked or improperly machined oil channel in the engine cam carrier, which is causing oil to leak externally. This is the exact component and failure mode described in Land Rover Safety Recall N763 (NHTSA Campaign 23V044000), which addresses a blocked engine cam carrier oil channel that can lead to an oil leak. Despite having the identical part failure on my vehicle, my VIN is not listed under the current recall scope. Safety Concern: I am extremely concerned about the fire risk. An oil leak in the presence of hot engine components or an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire. I have already observed oil spots where I park and occasionally smell burning oil while driving. I believe the recall population should be expanded to include my vehicle, as the defect clearly exists outside the current VIN range. Actions Taken: I contacted a Land Rover dealer, but they refused to cover the repair because my VIN is not on the active recall list. I am filing this complaint to formally report two separate incidents of DCDC converter failure in my Land Rover Range Rover Sport — the identical defect described in NHTSA Safety Recall 26V248 — and to request that NHTSA investigate why my vehicle has been excluded from that recall despite exhibiting the same failure mode. INCIDENT 1 – [XXX] While driving, my vehicle displayed a red “Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected” warning message and subsequently lost motive power, coasting to a stop in Bellevue, WA. I was unable to safely move the vehicle out of active traffic. I called 911 and emergency responders were dispatched to block the lane behind my vehicle to prevent a collision. The vehicle was towed to Jaguar Land Rover Bellevue, an authorized Land Rover dealership, where the DCDC converter was diagnosed as the cause of failure. Repair documentation is on file. INCIDENT 2 – [XXX] The same failure recurred. My vehicle again displayed the “Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected” warning and lost motive power while in motion in Chicago, IL. The vehicle was towed a second time to Jaguar Land Rover Chicago, where the same DCDC converter defect was documented and addressed. Repair documentation is on file. In both incidents, my vehicle came to a stop in an active traffic lane with no ability to self-recover, creating a direct risk of a rear-end collision that could have seriously injured or killed me, my family, and other road users. When I check my VIN against the recall, my vehicle does not appear as an included unit. I have received no owner notification letter from JLR despite the recall report stating owner notifications were planned for on or before June 12, 2026. I am requesting that NHTSA determine whether my vehicle meets that criteria and was incorrectly excluded, or whether the recall population should be expanded. I have attached Dealership repair orders and diagnostic reports from both incidents confirming DCDC issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 5

I am writing to formally escalate my concerns regarding an open, unresolved safety recall on my vehicle. I have repeatedly reached out to the manufacturer to get this issue fixed, but I continue to receive nothing but the runaround. According to official safety notices and documentation, this recall involves a critical, high-risk defect. Because this issue is so serious, I am now driving in constant fear, and I completely refuse to take my car on any long-distance trips due to legitimate safety concerns. It is entirely unacceptable that a known, hazardous defect is being left unaddressed. I need an immediate, definitive answer on the exact steps required to get this resolved. Furthermore, because the vehicle is currently unsafe for extended travel, I need to know what immediate accommodations—such as a complimentary loaner vehicle or rental—will be provided while you arrange for a priority repair. I expect a prompt response with a concrete solution.

I bought this car in 2024 and after 3,000 miles it was unrepairable. The first incident, I was driving and the car started flashing and beeping, telling me to pull over and exit the vehicle immediately. I brought it to the dealership and after a few days they returned it and said it was a software update. The next day, while driving to work, the vehicle again started flashing lights and beeping and told me to Pull Over and Exit the Vehicle immediately. The vehicle continued to flash and beep until I could pull over and stop, which unfortunately I was on the freeway, in between barriers and had to drive 17 more miles with it in panic mode. Almost 4 months later, I got the vehicle back and again, after driving a short time, I experienced a TOTAL electrical failure. The brakes, power steering, hill descent, etc ALL stopped working! After being in the shop a little over a month, again, I was told it was a software update and sent on my way. That night, while driving home, the Auto Brake Hold ENGAGED while I was driving and my vehicle jerked back and forth continually. Again it went to the dealership, and again I was told it was due to a software update and that is now how Land Rover had programmed it and I just was not used to it. When I tried to explain how I could not drive because of the continuous jerking, I was told there was nothing they can do.

Intermittent problem. The car while going forward with no warning slows down to around 20 to 30mph and cannot go faster when depressing the gas pedal. After pulling over to the side of the road, shutting down, opening the car door and restarting the car runs normally.
