- #11667747June 18, 2025VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, STEERING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
On [XXX] my vehicle had a collision warning signal, then tire pressure, then brake lights and entire dash instrument panel. I parked the vehicle, then later in the evening test drove it again and the panel lit up again, in addition to the loss of the speedometer, tachometer, gear display, and drive mode display, so I immediately drove it to Courtesy Kia in Altoona, PA. On 4/18/25 Wendy Giordano of Courtesy Kia confirmed vehicle intake Courtesy Kia reset codes and was unable to replicate or diagnose a repair. The vehicle was returned on 4/23/25 despite my expressed concerns over safety. On [XXX] the vehicle again displayed the collision warning and the instrument panel lit up again, in addition to the loss of the speedometer, tachometer, gear display, and drive mode display. I got off the highway and limped the vehicle closer to my home, stopped for a brief time, and proceeded the three miles to the dealership. In this time I lost power steering, and eventually brake lights and turn signals within 1,000 feet of the dealership and was nearly collided with in front of the dealershipOn 5/12 I continued to ask status and request a loaner with no adequate follow up. I was bounced between JT, Tyler and Wendy Giordano my service advisor. Around 5/22 I called in requesting an update and was put on the phone with the service tech to describe my issues On 6/6/25 John from courtesy ford left a 2 minute long rambling voicemail, 6/3 he said he received a fax. He said he spoke to service department and I could drive the car, that I could be driving the car now. "he wasn't sure what was going on with it" They've driven it and can't find anything. Kia is looking at video, service rep there on Tuesday and find nothing wrong. I think, how long and haven't had it long. Suggest you "just drive it, I don't know" In addition I've followed up with numerous emails and calls to determine course of action and repair and haven't had a productive repair plan. The contact owns a 2024 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH, a small rock struck the front windshield, creating a bullet-sized hole in the windshield. Additionally, while driving on the Interstate on two separate occasions, rocks struck the front windshield and caused chips in the windshield. The vehicle was taken to a glass center, where the windshield was replaced. The technician informed the contact that the glass was thin. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the windshield was thin and there was no recall for the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the glass needed to be replaced and recalibrated. The contact called two other dealers in Texas and retrieved similar information. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 42.

The check engine and oil pressure light will start to flash when starting to brake. While this is happening the car starts to shake, stall, and you struggle to accelerate. This has happened multiple times and the last time was in the middle of an intersection. KIA dealership did not fix the issue the two times I took it to the shop. The third time in they did some test and said it was an oil consumption issue and the piston rings in the SUV have failed and the car needed a new engine. This car is a 2020 Telluride with 78,759 miles on it. This issued started well before the 78,759 miles. Oil consumption has been a major issue with other KIA models and they have not seemed to fix this issue with the telluride. I believe they have replaced engines at an extremely high rate and now they are denying engine replacement under their warranty and stating piston ring damage is not covered under the warranty due to high oil consumption. You guys have issued a recall on 2021-2023 Seltos and Soul models for piston ring failure and now they do not want to start replacing tellurides. There is a Facebook page out there labeled KIA telluride issues with oil consumption being a big issue in the comments. KIA stating they will not cover the engine replacement is not only wrong is it a safety issue. I truly believe they know this is a serious issue and have not done anything to correct it. This vehicle is still under warranty and I am still in contact with the dealership to fix this issue.

On [XXX], my Kia Telluride received a warranty engine replacement at Greenway Kia East in Orlando, FL. Just two days later, on [XXX], the engine overheated while I was driving with my young child. The temperature warning light came on. I stopped immediately and opened the hood — there was no coolant in the system at all. This failure occurred immediately after a major engine replacement, suggesting that the dealer failed to fill or properly check the coolant system. I was left stranded near a daycare and had to call a third-party tow truck because Kia roadside assistance estimated a 90–120 minute wait. This put my child and me in serious danger. Despite the dealer’s clear negligence, I was sent an invoice for $1,833.77, blaming me for the damage. Upon retrieving the car on May 31, 2025, I personally checked under the hood — the coolant level was still below the MIN line. When I pointed this out, the service manager said, “We’re not required to top it off, but if that satisfies you, we’ll put some in.” This is extremely unsafe and irresponsible, especially after a critical repair like an engine replacement. Later, the dealership even claimed to Kia America that the engine was not replaced under warranty, contradicting their earlier confirmation. This kind of conflicting information, combined with unsafe practices and disregard for basic safety protocols, raises serious concerns about consumer safety and the dealership’s integrity. To make matters worse, Kia America closed my case ([XXX]) on June 10 without notifying me or giving me a chance to respond. I received only one dropped call from an unknown number, and no voicemail or follow-up communication. A formal complaint was mailed to Kia America on June 11, 2025, and I am currently waiting for their response. On June 12, 2025, I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). On Thursday, June 5, 2025, I discovered a 2-inch crack at the bottom center of my windshield after my vehicle had been parked in my garage for three consecutive days without being driven. There was no known impact or external force that could have caused the crack. The vehicle remained stationary and protected from environmental elements during this time. On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, I drove the vehicle to a glass repair company at the request of the dealership. While en route, I observed the crack rapidly expand from 2 inches to over 12 inches in length, extending upward and curving toward the driver’s side view area. The glass company inspected the windshield and confirmed there was no evidence of impact damage (e.g., from a rock or debris). Safety Risk: The expanding crack compromised the structural integrity of the windshield and obstructed the driver’s field of vision, posing a potential safety hazard. A weakened windshield may also reduce the effectiveness of airbag deployment and roof support in the event of a collision. Inspection and Confirmation: The issue was evaluated by an independent glass repair company, which confirmed the absence of any impact damage. The dealership referred me to this inspection. The manufacturer has not yet inspected the vehicle directly. Availability for Inspection: Yes, the cracked windshield is still available for inspection upon request. Warning Signs or Symptoms Prior to Failure: There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the appearance of the crack. The crack was first noticed after the vehicle had been parked and unused for several days.

I went to open my sunroof and it opened as normal but when I went to shut it, it’s started to make some noises and got stuck tilted open. It will not budge. I can be available for inspection. It’s a huge safety risk because the sunroof is tilted open and anything can fly into the car and hit someone’s head/body. Especially if driving on the highway at high speeds- the damage could be catastrophic. If I’m driving and a storm appears and the rain/hail could get into the car and cause damage as well as distract the driver and potentially cause an accident with other drivers. I took my car into my local dealership and they told me that the entire sunroof system would need to be replaced- no repair available. There were no warning lights/ issues that alerted me to a future problem.

- #11665558June 7, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Vehicle Information • Make: Kia • Model: Telluride • Year: 2022 • Approx. Mileage: 30k 2. System Involved • Component/System: Forward Collision Avoidance, Automatic Emergency Braking, Brakes, or Electronic Stability Control 3. Incident Description On 6/7/25 while driving my 2022 Kia Telluride on neighborhood street in Windsor Park austin Texas at approximately 25-30 mph the vehicle suddenly and forcefully braked on its own with no warning and no visible obstacle or vehicle in front of me. This unexpected braking occurred under normal driving conditions, with clear weather and dry pavement, and almost caused a collision with the vehicle behind me. No warning lights appeared on the dashboard, and no manual braking was applied by me. I believe this may be related to known technical service bulletins SC243 and SC252 concerning faulty automatic braking logic and the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU). This is a serious safety concern, and I am submitting this complaint in the hope that Kia will address this potential defect through recall or repair. There are reports similar to mine at highway speeds which would be deadly. 4. What Happened Next? I have contacted my local Kia dealership for inspection and plan to request that they document and diagnose the incident fully. Their online scheduler is showing next service appt not for over a week out which is not soon enough. I will call them first thing in the morning. I am also submitting this report to NHTSA to ensure that this is recorded as part of any ongoing safety investigation. Our vehicle was serviced within the last few months and we were assured there were no safety recalls on our vehicle. We would like this reevaluated.

3rd sear Buckle RH - 3rd row Rear bench right side rear passenger seatbelt anchor/buckle assembly (Right of 3RD Position) is damaged when rear seat is in down-folded position and soft length of seat buckle has slipped back under rear back rest. Receiving buckle is being crushed when seat is in folded position - KIA dealer argues misuse by customer - but fault is with manufacturer as rear buckle can slip below elastic tether because there is no stable anchor length between fixing bolt and tether point. Result is that seat buckle coupling becomes crushed when seat is in folded position. Part Replaced with K 89843 S9510WK

It took 8 months to repair the Recall #SC299B HALOGEN HEADLAMP-BOTH. Repair was done 04/03/2025, which appears to have not last long as high beam is low again and I am afraid to drive in early morning, dusk, or evening due to the timid, low bearing high beams. This is very unsettling as we have made three complaints due to negligence and lack of efficiency for recall repair, being in an accident due to not seeing a deer run across and we hit it, as well as, failed state inspection due to light issues (twice) that negatively impacted financial stability and job security as one driver has to have a clear safety inspection in order to work. Kia corporate has been contacted 6 times via email and called back to discuss ongoing issues, however, there does not appear to be any resolution and/or willingness to discuss ongoing issues with our car. It would be nice to discuss this matter and find a solution that alleviates hardship this recall (and apparent lack of fix as lights continue to be an issue) and Kia dealer/company has made. We would appreciate being bought out and/or provided reimbursements and buyout. Either way, we hope others do NOT face the ongoing stress and issues telluride has given us. It is not ideal or fair to continue being fearful of the safety and reliability of our car despite company’s “attempt” of fixing it.

The sun roof exploded driving on a busy interstate highway, fortunately the sun visor was closed otherwise we and our dogs would have been wearing the glass. Lots of glass coming off the roof on cars behind us. Dealer has confirmed other failures. Dealer is servicing now at no charge. No warning of this failure and should be a recall as many of these early model KIA Tellurides have this issue.

We have a 2025 KIA Telluride and in the second row seats the right hand seat receiver you have to grab it and hold it up tight to insert the seat belt. You have to be strong to do this. We went to Billion KIA in Rapid City SD toi get it fixed and they can't fix it. So they called KIA Corp and KIA said it is not a design flaw and they won't fix it. Someone could get hurt or killed in an accident. Thank you for any help.

My main screen on my 2021 Telluride goes out suddenly, turning off the backup camera and collision warnings. Sometimes when I start the car it never turns on, sometimes it starts to boot and then goes out and sometimes it works for a few seconds/minutes and then turns off. Once and a while it turns on and stays on for days before going on randomly again.

The sunroof spontaneously exploded while I was driving my kids to practice. Luckily we had the sunshade closed, so that prevented us from getting covered in glass. I have found several claims online from other Kia Telluride owners experiencing this same issue. There were no prior issues or warnings.

1. Instrument Cluster did not turn on when I started the car. The infotainment system turned on, along with the engine and rest of the car, but the instrument cluster that shows the speed, fuel gauge, etc was black. When I used my turn signals, the sound to indicate they are on would start initially and then stop after 2-3 times. 2. I had no idea how fast I was going or was my fuel level was. I was also not sure if my turn signals were working. This is where the lane change assist camera is shown, so I could not see that either. This screen also reflects warnings, so I would be unaware if anything came up. 3. No - we made the first earliest appointment with the dealer in 5 days from today. 4. No. 5. No warning lamps or messages (these would also appear on this screen, so if a warning came up I would not be aware).

Sunroof glass exploded while traveling down the interstate at 75 MPH. All occupants were covered in broken glass but there were no injuries. All of the windows were closed at the time, and the sunroof was not struck by a foreign object or anything. Definitely could have caused an eye injury or triggered an accident. It sounded like a shot gun blast. The vehicle is out of warranty so I'm going to report it myself and not waste time with Kia.
