Ive a 2023 Kia K5 GT-Line AWD with 73000 mileage. I was having a trip from New Jersey to Massachusetts for a wedding. I had 208 miles to go and 223 miles range. Than suddenly it went down to 93 miles. I stop by a gas station. I could not pump gas. It was kicking the nozzle. I stop by another gas station miles later. I couldnt pump gas either. It kickes the nozzle and my gas tank looks full. Than i start the car and check engine light and P045100 code came on. Than i checked the closest KIA but it was Saturday. They couldn’t service i was at Rhode Island. I callled one of the KIA and they said as long as CEL is on i can drive. If its keep flashing i shouldnt drive. I said it smells gasoline and i cant fill up my tank and i asked if they have a suggestion and they said idk and closed the phone. Than i heard a clicking noise and it smelled a lot more gasoline. I saw that my rear seats popped up. I saw that one of the gas tank or whatever it is was up and my tank was expanding. I had to leave my car to another dealer nearby airport at Rhode Island. They will check my car at Monday. I rent a car from airport enterprise. I guess ill need to wait and see. I know that there is a recall. But i sent for an oil change at 60000 mileage and my local dealer told me that there was a recall and they checked and thats why it took long and im good to go. So they checked the recall and it was fine and now its not fine. My gasoline tank expanded. My car is located at Bold Hill Kia in Warwick, Rhode Island. I was scared to drive but i had no other choice and the serviceman in one of the dealer told me to drive so i drive to another KIA.My vehicle was inspected for the SC288 Recall [XXX] ) There was a check engine light with the obd code of p045100. Transmission is itself in neutral while driving. Resulting in irratic RPMs, hesitating acceleration and rough transition to gears. Took care into dealership service department. They seemed that I would need a transmission replacement. Kia approved the request. Still waiting on transmission to be put in.

The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed as a failure with fuel tank expansion. The contact was contact informed that the fuel tank expansion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. I have a 2022 Kia K5 GT-Line. My problem started with what I thought was a AC problem. My car was still in warranty. (Under 60,000 miles). They change the blower motor. After it was fixed the next day my AC went out again. I have taken my car in 4 times about the same problem. Just for them to tell me it’s a fuse problem where the fuse box is overheating and the whole fuse box is melting and needs to be repaired which I was told is almost $2000 to be repaired and it is not covered under the warranty. I know of 5 other people that’s having the same problem. I wouldn’t expect this to happen to an 2 year old car.

While driving home from work, traveling on a state route at 55 mph, the cover under the engine just snapped off on the passenger side of the vehicle. It just started making a loud noise like I had blown a tire! I pulled over and noticed it was hanging down on the road. I had not hit anything, the bracket had it fully broken, it could have caused me to wreck or put any other drivers at risk for an accident. This isn’t the only Kia K5 I’ve seen with the engine dust cover hanging beneath the vehicle.

While driving on a rural road, a cow ran in front of my vehicle and I collided with it. The car was towed to a repair shop and the estimated cost of repairs was $15,000. The impact was on the front corner of the drivers side of the vehicle. No airbags deployed. It seems to me that with the violence and location of the impact that some airbags should’ve deployed.

The contact owns a 2023 Kia K5. The contact stated while making a turn from a complete stop, the check engine warning light and several other unknown warning lights illuminated. The message "A possible condition with your engine control system has been detected" was displayed on the infotainment screen display. The accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact was able to drive back to her nearby residence at a significantly slow speed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the failure could not be replicated. The contact stated that the vehicle operated as needed; however, the failure recurred while making a left turn in a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the throttle body had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated while driving at highway speeds, the failure recurred, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was test-driven. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle could not be diagnosed because the warning lights were not illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was recurring intermittently and was causing the infotainment system to reset. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ravine. No warning lights illuminated. The driver sustained arm injuries due to the air bag deployment. No medical attention was received as of yet. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. I have 2021 Kia k5 gt line I am having similar problem as other who own a Kia k5 get line 2020,2021, 2022 and 2023. Ac works one time next I turn the car off and the next time I start it up it doesn’t work anymore and now my ac does not work now and it is off completely

On June 12, 2024, the driver heard a loud pop/thump coming from the rear of the vehicle. The driver looked back to inspect the vehicle and noticed that the back seats had lifted his child and car seat up from the proper seating position. Upon further inspection, the driver had noticed a large bulge under the rear seats that was releasing a lot of heat and the smell of gas was throughout the cabin of the vehicle. On the way home at the time of the event the driver stopped to get the gas and when opening the gas cap noticed a violent pressure release, similar to opening a shaken-up soda. The driver quickly got to a safe location as the heat in the passenger cabin started to rise. The driver immediately notified the Kia Service Dept. and the vehicle was towed to the Kia service department on June 13, 2024. On June 18, 2024, the driver was told that the current issue was due to a gas tank expansion issue and that the gas tank expanded causing the metal frame to bend, and that the vehicle may not be repairable since the metal frame had been bent. The service department stating the vehicle is no longer safe to drive and that the issue would be escalated to their consumer affairs team. It is July 29, 2024, and there has been no word of Kia or any representative thereof that has reached out to remedy this issue. The dealer has denied a temporary replacement vehicle and/or rental car replacement for the time being. Where the driver and child were at extreme risk of a potential fatality or extreme injury, It would be expected that the matter be handled a little more expeditiously. Hoping to get this matter resolved!

I was driving on the expressway and the engine made a noise and I lost power. I was in the left lane of the expressway. I did not have any warning lights or signs or symptoms prior to this incident. No oil ever leaked prior to this incident. When it occurred, oil was pouring out of the engine all over the ground. The engine was smoking. And a warning message came across the entertainment screen that said, “A possible condition with your engine control system has been detected, recommend service soon” I never received any notification of any oil pressure loss, oil loss, warning lights, nothing. My car has been at the dealership for over 60 days, and KIA is refusing to cover the engine under warranty, blaming an oil change place that did an oil change over a month prior to this incident, and I drive 100 to 200 miles per day for work, so this would have occurred sooner. Purge control valve but pressure in my gas tank and it has expanded. Kia will not replace my tank. Heard 2 loud bangs going down the road I started smelling gas. Check engine light came on. Pulled over and gas is pushing up and out behind my tank flowing down my wheel well. Opened the gas cap and it sprayed gas all over me. I have 2 small children and this could have been a extremely worse situation than it was. On another note I took my car to the dealership they did the update and confirmed my gas tank had expanded. They are not replacing my tank they said bc kia has "no remedy". And tried to sell me a bunch of other services on my vehicle instead. I've contacted kia and they basically told me the same thing they at this time will not be replacing my tank. I've picked the car up they cleared the codes and the car is still running rough.

AC stopped blowing, vehicle had 62k miles. Took to an autoshop and they indicated that the AC blower and resistor needed to be replaced. I have both of these replaced, the AC work for a few minutes and then stopped again. I took it back to the same shop and the mechanic indicated that the fuse box was melted/burned (I have a picture as evidence). This is a tremendous fire hazard and we have been leaving our car parked outside of our home out of fear that it will catch fire. Their were no warning lamps whatsoever that indicated that there was a problem. Upon further online research, it appears that numerous people are having the same issue and Kia Motors has not done anythins about it, and we are having to pay thousands of dollars for repair when it is a manufacturer defect.

The blower motor goes out intermittently. I replaced the blower motor but found the problem to be much greater. Upon further inspection the fuse for the blower and wiring harness are melting into eachother at the fuse box. This issue is becoming more and more prevalent in model from the year 2021-2024 the remedy is a complete wiring harness and fuse box replacement.
