The powered operation of the third row in the 2025 Hyundai Palisade fails to stop if anything or anyone is sitting or placed on the third row seat. There has been a report of a [XXX] death with respect to this operation already in Ohio and other injuries across the nation. Hyundai has already placed a stop sell on this vehicle but there are many other vehicles on the road at the moment that can cause additional deaths. There is no requirement to stop driving this vehicle by the NHTSA and it is giving Hyundai 18 months to find and test a remedy. We personally tested the operation with someone in the third row seat and the seat failed to stop closing when the rear compartment button was pressed. As an adult I felt that I would have been crushed if my partner did not reverse the operation. A child in that seat would have been killed. That button can easily be pressed by anything stored in the rear compartment while the vehicle is being driven. We leased our vehicle to carry grandchildren but now cannot use it due to the safety risks. Continuing to drive these vehicle is a serious risk of death and injury and the NHTSA should be protecting the consumers who still have these vehicles on the road. I am writing to file a complaint regarding four recalls on my 2023 Hyundai Palisade in the past year, two of which remain unresolved due to lack of parts or remedy. We received notification of the seatbelt recall in October and scheduled with our local Hyundai dealership. Upon arriving at our appointment, we were told there were no parts to complete the repair and that there was a months long waitlist because Hyundai corporate was only sending out a limited number per dealership. Those parts had to be installed before each dealership could order more resulting in a huge back order. I called two other dealerships in our area and all had the same story. It has now been nearly 6 months and I called again to be informed there was another recall on this recall and they have stopped fixing it altogether with no ETA on resolution. In addition, while waiting for the seatbelt recall remedy, we were notified of the third row airbags being defective and there is currently not even a waitlist, remedy, or ETA for resolution for this one either. With the seatbelts unsafe on the first two rows and the airbags unsafe in the third row our entire car doesn’t have a single safe seat for our family, including two children under the age of [XXX] , to sit. This is totally irresponsible on Hyundai’s part and I think they need to be held responsible for all of these mismanaged recalls. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Hyundai’s handling of these recalls and consider requiring interim accommodations for affected owners, such as loaner vehicles or vehicle buyback. - #11728282March 31, 2026FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, ENGINE, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the vehicle turned off on several occasions after the engine Auto START/STOP system was engaged. The vehicle was restarted and was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. Additionally, upon starting the vehicle after the vehicle was refueled at a gas station, the check engine and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the vehicle failed to respond while shifted to drive(D). The vehicle was towed to the contact's business. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed because there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 5,463.

The third-row seats in my 2025 Hyundai Palisade are closing fully even when there are clear obstructions in the seat path. I tested this multiple times — including with case of water — and the seats did not stop, reverse, or provide any safety resistance. They closed completely each time. I am aware this exact issue has already been identified and recalled in the 2026 Palisade, which raises major concerns about whether the same defect exists in the 2025 model. After repeating the test with several different objects and getting the same dangerous result, I am extremely alarmed. This is a critical safety hazard for anyone seated in the third row. There has already been at least one reported death related to this malfunction, and knowing what I know now, I do not feel safe allowing anyone to sit in that row until this is investigated and resolved. This issue requires immediate attention and action. The risk is serious, foreseeable, and potentially fatal. I am requesting that Hyundai address this as a priority before someone else is injured.

Driving approx. 45 mph through [XXX] when I heard loud boom and glass shattering. After calming down and avoiding a collision I realized my sunroof had essentially exploded and shattered. No impact or foreign debris was visible or noted.I was very scared. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11728213March 31, 2026SEAT BELTS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Acceleration hesitation on numerous occasions. Seat belt recall, unresolved. Waiting for parts for over two months. Also waiting for dealership availability and also, I need an available loaner car. I have to drive my child around frequently for personal reasons. I use my third row and there's no remedy for the third row safety recall. The second row seat belts are constantly being stuck and inoperable.

The seat reclining system. When I clicked to fold the seats, it doesn’t detect if someone is sitting there so it folds in on the person and they get stuck on the person. The seat keeps trying to fold even if a child is in the seat or not. So it folds over and closes in on the child.

When picking up my children from daycare, my 2024 Palisade (37K miles) would not shift into park. It was stuck in the reverse position. It would not shift to any drive, park, or neutral. Even in the reverse position, the car would not move. I applied the emergency brake and had to turn the car off without placing it in park. When I restarted the car, and place it in reverse, the engine made clunking noise. The dash said "Shifting Malfunction. Service Immediately".

Have attempted recall repairs 2 times. Was told I needed to reschedule since parts not available. I brought my vehicle in for repair 3/30/2026 @ 8:20. After noticing my car in back parking lot that did not move from at least 8:50am to 10:10am, I asked service representative what was happening. I was told I need to bring back at a later date when seatbelt parts are in. This process would take 4 hours. I made them aware that my front passenger seatbelt comes undone often.

- #11728148March 30, 2026POWER TRAIN, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, STEERING
The steering wheel clunks and locks when turning at low speeds or when ISG turns the car back on. At times, it is a hard enough jerk to pull it out of my hands. It was taken to the dealership multiple times. The coupler was replaced, but it still jerked the steering wheel. The dealership in Utah could not replicate the sound, even though it occurs multiple times a day at this point. Loss of the ability to steer after sitting at a light poses a huge safety issue between not being able to immediately navigate upon accelerating or when turning left at an intersection.

- #11728135March 30, 2026SERVICE BRAKES
As I approached the traffic light from a parking lot, at slow speeds ie 5mph, I hit a patch of uneven ground where the concrete was uneven. The brakes stuttered and lurched. I pumped the brakes without much success and came within inches of hitting the car ahead of me. This has happened multiple times. Another time, I was approaching an intersection again at approximately 30 mph. The brakes stuttered so hard that I barely stopped before entering the path of the oncoming traffic. On a later separate time, traveling at approximately 35 mph, we were fully in the crosswalk when the car finally stopped. These were just the scariest of times, not inclusive of all occurrences. The trouble began within the first few months of purchasing the car in 2023 and still happens. I reported this to the dealership on several occasions. They claim it is normal for the vehicle but it is a danger to the occupants in the car and the nearby pedestrians.

When the recall for the seatbelts was first released I went to the dealership and was told my car was not affected which was incorrect. More recently they admitted it was included but it would be at least one year before I would see the repair completed. Now there’s another recall but Hyundai has no remedy!

Hyundai has opened an internal case, number 42429100 Their only resolution is to leave the vehicle at a dealership and rent a car at my own expense. They have offered to give me a slight discount on a trade, but all comparable vehicles are under safety recalls as well. They have offered no effective solution and I have no manner to safely transport my family. The vehicle is subject to an active safety recall (NHTSA Recall 26V034) for failure to meet federal ejection mitigation standards (FMVSS 226) due to curtain airbag performance in the third row. According to the manufacturer, there is currently no available remedy for this condition. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealership, which confirmed that the recall is active and that no repair can be performed at this time. A separate seatbelt-related recall was completed during the inspection. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the recall notices. Because there is no available remedy and no timeline for repair, the vehicle cannot be restored to a condition that meets federal safety standards within a reasonable timeframe. This impacts the ability to safely transport occupants, particularly in scenarios involving side impact or rollover crashes where ejection mitigation is required. The manufacturer has not provided a functional resolution, such as a loaner vehicle or alternative transportation, and advised leaving the vehicle at the dealership without support. This leaves the owner without a safe and usable vehicle for normal family transportation.
