I am reporting that Hyundai’s Recall 296 remedy appears inadequate and that Hyundai closed the recall on my vehicle even though the underlying rear-seat safety hazard remained unresolved. My complaint involves the second- and third-row powered seat system, including the fold/stow and walk-in functions. My core safety complaint is that the second-row seat continued to move under powered operation despite resistance from a properly installed child seat using LATCH. I also reported that the third-row seat could still collapse under powered operation despite the presence of an object. This is a crush/entrapment hazard, especially for children. I presented the vehicle for this same rear-seat safety concern multiple times. Even after Hyundai and the dealer treated the recalls as completed, the condition remained unresolved and I returned the vehicle again for the same issue. Hyundai and the dealer changed and used inconsistent completion dates while continuing software/update activity and then still failed to acknowledge my real-world safety concerns after the supposed repair. I also reported additional post-update problems including fluctuating cabin air temperature, blower speed fluctuation without input, and reduced ventilated-seat cooling. Hyundai ultimately took the position that those systems were operating normally and instructed the dealer to release the vehicle. My complaint is not merely that Hyundai issued a recall. My complaint is that Hyundai treated Recall 296 as completed, changed the vehicle’s seat functionality by disabling or limiting previously available automatic features, used inconsistent completion timing, and still failed to correct or acknowledge the underlying safety defect I continued reporting. I am asking NHTSA to review whether Recall 296 is actually correcting the defect in service, or whether affected vehicles remain unsafe after Hyundai marks the recall complete.

Safety Recall 283 - NHTSA Recall 25V607000 This recall is a huge concern, and the problem has not been fixed. It has been months. I have called the Hyundai dealership several times about this needing to be fixed. I have two children. THEY HAVE HAD THEIR SEATBELTS COME UNBUCKLED SEVERAL TIMES NOW!! If we are in any kind of accident, the faulty seatbelts could be the difference between life and death. The dealership has been great; however, they are only getting a few replacements in at a time. I now am having to look into the option of trading in my vehicle and purchasing a new one. I am only about halfway through my loan term which means I am going to be losing money. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!!!

- #11734235April 28, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
Whilst driving on the highway, the passenger rear quarter glass detached from the car and flew into the bushes on the side of the road. I heard a whistling sound coming from the inside of the car. I checked to see if one of the windows had been opened, yet they were all closed. I figured I would check the car when I got home to see where the disturbance was coming from. Yet while I was in the right lane, traveling at the speed limit of 70 mph, the passenger RR Quarter Glass Panel detached from the side of the car. The panel was lost in the bushes but most likely shattered on impact. This may be the result of a bad urethane bead when securing the panel during assembly.

I picked up my vehicle from the dealership after it being there for almost 2 weeks for multiple DTC codes, a dash cam component replacement, and recall updates. On the way home, my check engine light flashed on and off multiple times while driving at highway speeds (although no codes were recorded in my Hyundai app diagnostics). When I exited the highway, I came to a stop sign on the off ramp and waited till cross traffic cleared. I went to accelerate into traffic, but my car would barely move. This happened 4 more times in the short drive to my home. This could pose a serious safety risk if I'm unable to accelerate to merge into traffic and get stuck in cross traffic.

I am reporting an inadequate and deceptive remedy for NHTSA Recall 296 (Hyundai Recall 296) regarding the 2026 Palisade Calligraphy. The original safety defect involved the failure of the power-folding 2nd and 3rd-row seats to detect obstructions, leading to a known fatality. However, instead of repairing the defective sensors with functional hardware, Hyundai’s 'remedy' involves a software update that permanently disables advertised vehicle functionality. The 'One-Touch' automatic folding feature, which was a primary selling point of this $55,000+ luxury trim, has been deleted. Furthermore, all touchscreen controls for these seats have been disabled. Owners are now forced to manually hold physical buttons for the duration of the seat movement. This 'fix' shifts the burden of safety onto the consumer rather than repairing the vehicle's faulty equipment. I believe this remedy is a 'feature-stripping' measure to avoid the cost of a proper hardware repair, and it constitutes a substantial loss of vehicle value and utility.

Component: Engine / Engine and Engine Cooling Description: My 2020 Hyundai Palisade (approximately 155,856 miles) experienced a serious and dangerous engine-related failure that resulted in a vehicle fire. For approximately 8 months prior to the incident, the vehicle was consuming oil at an abnormal rate with no visible external leaks. This condition persisted without clear cause. While my [XXX] daughter was driving, the vehicle suddenly developed a new oil leak, and the engine failed without warning, leaving my daughter stranded on the roadway. Immediately following the failure, the engine compartment caught fire. There were no prior indications of an active oil leak before this sudden failure. The progression from oil consumption to catastrophic failure and fire presents a serious safety concern. This incident created a dangerous situation with risk of injury or worse, and it appears to be more than normal wear and tear. I am reporting this as a potential safety defect involving engine failure and fire risk. Mileage at time of incident: approximately 155,000 miles No prior accident or external cause contributed to the fire. - Engine leaking oil / burning oil - vehicle stuttered while turning left - can lead to sudden breakdown or stalling - dealer performed warranty repair of oil pan and oil filter housing in February. 2 months later, no oil on dipstick. Dealer reports this is a common issue. - manufacturer states one quart of oil lost every 1000 miles is acceptable. Car holds 6 quarts of oil. Dealership oil change is once every 6000 miles. Engine will be out of oil before next oil change is due - car is at dealer with no loaner available. Hyundai corporate contacted and they say this is very common and oil consumption test is next step. In the meantime, no car for us. - Vehicle still has 28000 miles under warranty. A simple internet search will show this is an extremely common issue with no fix. - Life of engine, value of car, peace of mind, safety of occupants are all a concern

Sunroof completely shattered while driving. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. Due to the glass spontaneously shattering while driving, all occupants in the vehicle were at risk of injury. Problem was confirmed by dealership close to where the incident happened but later denied by other dealerships close to our home. (Glass shattered while on vacation). On September 11, 2025, Hyundai of New Port Richey (Lithia Motors) executed a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) contract and delivered a 2023 Hyundai Palisade (VIN: [XXX] act day the manufacturer issued a federal Stop-Sale for Recall #283 (Seatbelt Latch Failure). Internal documents show the CPO sale relied on mechanical inspection data from 34 days prior (August 8, 2025). There is no documentation of a point-of-sale safety check performed on September 11, resulting in the vehicle being sold despite the active Stop-Sale order. Presumably, because the sale occurred on the exact date Recall #283 was issued, we were excluded from the manufacturer's October safety mailing. We unknowingly operated the vehicle for seven months without knowledge of the seatbelt defect, though we did receive subsequent notices for campaigns 9C9, 9C8, and Recall #292 (Ejection Mitigation). Combined, the active status of Recall #283 and Recall #292 leaves the vehicle with zero safe seating positions. Furthermore, internal records show the vehicle failed a computer diagnostic test ('NG' code) with a severely depleted 11.90V battery prior to purchase. The CPO sale was executed without resolving this documented fault. This correlates to a severe electrical issue where the parked vehicle spontaneously unlocks. Attached documents: "Palisade Sales Paperwork" - Documents the 9/11/25 purchase date. "Palisade Repair Order" - Documents the electrical/battery failure. (I also possess a video from the Hyundai technician confirming the battery issue). "Final Evidentiary Summary" - Chronological timeline of the transaction. "Palisade Inspection Form" - August 8, 2025, internal document recording the battery failure and outdated recall checks. This was not provided to us with the 9/11/25 purchase paperwork, and the customer signature is left blank. The engine oil system failed due to a persistent oil leak that was present from the time of purchase on December 16th 2024. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and is currently immobile due to a completely seized engine. My safety was put at serious risk because the vehicle has no functioning low oil warning indicator to alert the driver of critically low oil levels. I was driving this vehicle regularly for work with no indication whatsoever that the engine was losing oil. A seized engine can cause sudden and complete loss of vehicle control which puts not only the driver but other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This failure occurred without any warning while the vehicle was in regular use. The oil leak was brought to the selling dealership, Auto Merchants Inc. in Plano Texas, for repair on January 6th 2026. They kept the vehicle overnight and confirmed it was fixed. The problem was not resolved as the vehicle continued losing oil. On March 3rd 2026 I discovered the engine was completely empty and added 6 full quarts of oil with no warning light appearing. I also contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and the Hyundai dealership directly who confirmed the manufacturer warranty had already expired at the time of purchase on December 16th 2024 and declined to cover the repair. The vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representatives. The dealership serviced it on January 6th 2026 and claimed the leak was repaired however the engine seized on April 20th 2026 due to continued oil loss. There were zero warning lamps or indicators of any kind prior to the engine seizing completely on April 20th 2026. No low oil warning light appeared at any point during the 4 months I owned this vehicle despite the engine running completely out of oil on three separate occasions. The only symptom prior to full engine seizure was the vehicle sputtering when coming to a stop on April 19th 2026, one day before the engine seized completely

I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety issue involving my 2023 Hyundai Palisade that is currently unresolved and directly impacts the safety of my children and passengers. My vehicle is subject to an open safety recall (Recall 292 – ejection mitigation) for which there is currently no available remedy. In addition to this unresolved recall, I am experiencing an active failure of the seatbelt system. The seatbelts do not consistently latch and/or will not remain securely latched, creating an immediate risk to occupants. Replacement seatbelt components were ordered in January, and I have been informed they are on backorder with no estimated timeline for repair. As of today, the issue remains unresolved. This situation presents a severe safety concern. The vehicle has compromised occupant protection systems, including both restraint failure (seatbelts) and an open recall involving ejection mitigation. I regularly transport children in this vehicle and cannot rely on the safety systems to function properly. I have contacted Hyundai Motor America and opened a case to resolve this issue. However, Hyundai has not provided a repair, has not provided a safe alternative vehicle, and has not offered a viable solution. I was offered rental reimbursement, but I am unable to pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle upfront, and the reimbursement limit does not cover a comparable vehicle suitable for transporting my family. As a result, I am being left with no reasonable or safe option: either continue operating a vehicle with known safety defects or assume financial burden that I cannot afford in order to obtain temporary transportation. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, including: * The delay in remedy for Recall 292 * The failure and parts shortage related to seatbelt systems * The lack of manufacturer support for consumers facing active safety risks This vehicle is not safe for normal use under current conditions.

I own a 2021 Hyundai Palisade and have experienced a complete transmission failure that I believe Hyundai had prior knowledge of and failed to address. Before my warranty expired, I contacted the dealership several times to report transmission symptoms I was experiencing. I was told that because no diagnostic code had been produced at that time, there was nothing they could do. Eventually, my check engine light came on with a P0741 code — Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance. When I brought the vehicle in, the dealer flushed the transmission fluid, which came out dark and contaminated with metal particles. After running the vehicle, the fluid was still dark, indicating active internal damage already in progress. The dealership has now told me I need a full transmission replacement at my own expense. I am the second owner of this vehicle with approximately 105,000 miles. I have since learned that Hyundai issued Technical Service Bulletin #20-AT-005H-1 specifically addressing the P0741 code on the 2021 Palisade, instructing dealers to replace the solenoid and valve body harness. This repair procedure was never applied to my vehicle despite my early report of symptoms. I believe this is a known defect that Hyundai has failed to escalate to a recall, leaving consumers like me with thousands of dollars in repair costs for a problem the manufacturer was already aware of. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue and consider whether a recall is warranted for the 2021 Hyundai Palisade.
