Upon leaving the City, I attempted to accelerate and my car did not respond. I smelled Exhaust Gas fumes faintly. I heard the warning chimes approximately 4 times, but did not see any warning light. I coasted to a stop a few hundred feet where I could get off road. I pushed the Engine off button and waited a few seconds, then I restarted the car and proceeded like it never happened. This could have caused serious problem if I had been on a freeway, Tunnel, or Bridge. I took the car to the Dealership Service Department the next day, and they checked it out with nothing showing up. My Incident seems like the faulty EGR Valve with poor solder connections: NHTSA Recall No. : 24V-308 Manufacturer Recall No. : 260, but my Vehicle was not Included in this Recall.

My vehicle has said, refill inverter coolant, I took it in a couple of days ago and they said there is an open recall and they would fix it. They called me back after I dropped it off and informed me that they did not have the specific coolant, and no one in the area did. Over the past couple days, my vehicle has had issues turning on.

The rear passenger side door and trunk were unable to be opened resulting in a problem getting my children out of the back seat. The locks would not open with the fob or manually. If I were to get into an accident, I/emergency personnel would have not been able to get my children that are in a car seat out quickly as they would have to either go through the front seat or cut the door off. The car dealership did replace components on 04/27/24 and it has been working as it should as of this time of reporting.

- #11585896April 29, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I am concerned about the safety of my car and have little faith that there are qualified mechanics who understand EVs and can properly service an EV car. Two times on April 9, 2024 (and on at least 4 other occasions in 2023) while drive at approximately 45 miles an hour on a RI State highway at a safe distance from any care in front of me, my vehicle went into the fail-safe mode while I was driving causing a sudden significant loss of power to the car and it appeared to be that it was going to stall. There was no warning sound indicating that I was going to crash into the forward vehicle (again, I was at a safe distance). In order to continue driving, I had to pull onto the road shoulder, shut off the car, which seemed to reset it. On this particular day/occasion, this situation occurred twice in the span of about 10 minutes. Had there been anyone driving right behind me, they would have hit my car. In addition, I brought my car to the dealer to address but the dealership did not know how to fix/address my problem. They did find "multiple codes" in the car history, deleted the codes, and test drove the car. They said if it happened again, to let them know. They also told me if it occurred again, then I should bring it in when the 1 and only technician, who knows anything about the EV cars, was working. I took a photo of the dashboard immediately after one of the episodes while the car was still running before I shut if off. I will attach it.

While driving the vehicle the warning light went on and suddenly there was a loss of power on the highway. The vehicle was brought to our local mechanic who ran a diagnostic test and the NTSB recommendation for engine replacement DTC P1327 came up. He advised the vehicle go to the dealer, which we did. It has been at the dealer for 5 weeks. When the recall 22-EM-008H was done, they did not do the recommended engine test in 2023. The recall also had them do something in the computer to give owners a warning if there was any knocking sensed in the engine. That warning system failed to work because the light came on when the engine seized. The dealer said they see a couple of these cars a week with the same issue and Hyundai refuses to take ownership of the issue that prompted the recall. They denied us saying it was out of warranty when the recall was not issued until the car was about 4 years old. Most people would be out of warranty, especially because the 100K warranty doesn't apply to secondary owners which I was never aware of until now. I bought the car in 2020 about a year after production. Everyone you speak to at Hyundai doesn't understand English and at the bottom of the recall it states to submit a prior approval if the affected part is out of warranty for a goodwill consideration but they deny all of them due to out of warranty which doesn't make any sense as to why there would be a prior approval process for out of warranty claims for good will if they are not going to ever do a goodwill repair. They also do not give you to a person that can listen to what you are trying to tell them that can understand what goodwill means and explain why they did not do the engine repair or replacement when they discovered they had engines out there with the potential to fail. This is not right what they are doing. Many other models have the same issue and the warranty was extended to 15/150k but this one has not been added to that and it should be.

When operating the vehicle, all the electrical systems will just cut power for 1-2 seconds. The infotainment, gauges, and headlights will all go completely black, speakers will stop, everything. All electrical power cuts. This happens when driving the car, day or night and happened now 6 times in the last few months. Hyundai dealers say nothing is wrong. If driving at night, it will cause no visibility of the road since the headlights and taillights turn off when this happens. Numerous people are experiencing this issue with the same model and getting told nothing is wrong. Safety is HUGELY at risk as this can cause an accident very quickly with no visibility with the car going dark. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer several times with no luck of tracking down the problem. No warning lights, fault codes, or messages are associated with this issue with the vehicle either.

The vehicle shut down while I was driving approximately 40 mph on a major throughway out of town. I was unfamiliar with the area and had to quickly pull over into a resident's driveway. I immediately shut the vehicle down and tried to restart it. It would not turn over, so I waited a few minutes and tried again. The engine then made a noise that almost sounded like "I quit" and would not make any noise when I turned the key after that. I called a local tow company who towed it to Firestone Complete Auto Care which was the nearest open garage. After they ran their diagnostic, they said that the engine had seized and that there was no oil in the reserve. I never had any engine lights light up on the dashboard until the second the car stopped working, when they ALL came on. My mechanic friend says that these engines have computers that time stamp when the warning lights come on, so it will be interesting to know if they use that information. I have contacted Hyundai customer service and because we are not the original owners of the vehicle, they said the powertrain/engine is not covered under the 5 year/60k mile warranty from Hyundai. We do have an extended warranty through a 3rd party company, but they are giving us a difficult time too. We are still waiting to hear if they will cover the replacement of the engine. This is a HUGE safety risk because my vehicle gave no advanced warning that it was needing service/maintenance and just stopped functioning while I was driving. If I had been on a different street or in the middle of a turn, it could have resulted in injury/death of occupants of the vehicle. My oldest son is also just starting to drive. If he were driving this vehicle when this occurred, he may not have known what to do and could have been stranded in the middle of a busy highway, where an accident could have been imminent.

While driving on a freeway, the drain plug fell out, dumping all of the oil onto the road. The vehicle had been serviced by just one facility and I had only had this brand new vehicle for 7 months when this occurred. This incident put the driver, any passengers, and anyone on the road nearby at risk. The drain plug loss was verified by a Hyundai certified service facility and then I was asked to tow it to the Hyundai certified facility that performed all of the services. I was told that Hyundai Motor America sent representatives to inspect the vehicle at both facilities along with the service staff at each facility. I have not been informed of anyone else inspecting the vehicle such as law enforcement or insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps or messages or symptoms prior to the drain plug falling out. There was no evidence of any oil leak, either. There were warning lamps immediately afterward. Blue link sent me a message as soon as the vehicle was turned back on after being turned off. The message said "a possible condition with your engine control system has been detected with your 2022 Hyundai Kona..." My 2022 Hyundai Kona is still sitting at the Hyundai certified repair facility over two years later. I had to hire a lawyer to try to get this situation rectified. No one wants to accept the responsibility for the drain plug falling out of my vehicle.

We just had our 2020 Kona updated from the dealer with major software and recall updates. Since that point the car has been draining from the 12volt battery on it's own and killing the charging circuit for the battery. It has caused us to have to jump start the car and not be able to keep the 12 volt charged which runs all of the environmentals and car systems. Unless you have a jump pack with you, you have to jump it after every stop. I have tested the battery and it is fine but the system needs a high end initial draw and is not getting it. I have contacted the dealer but they are saying it is not their problem. This needs government address, as it is the same issue in the NHTSA recalls or Hybrid and EV Sonata and Ioniq 5 models.

Sunglass holder overhead near rear view mirror opens when the car hits a bump, obscuring rear view 30-40% suddenly and sometimes the sunglasses fall out onto the driver or passenger. Latch will not stay engaged due to hot and cold temperature condition changes.

The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Kona. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment, after which the vehicle lost motive power. The low oil and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V301000 (Engine), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

- #11578324March 19, 2024SERVICE BRAKES
The braking system malfunctioned. Son was driving it, brake light came on, brakes started sinking randomly. Vehicle is very slow to get vehicle to stop and had to hit brake pedal hard to even get vehicle to slow down. Opened the hood to verify if there was brake fluid, it was low. Put brake fluid in and tested brakes, a pinhole was spraying brake fluid. Took to get a diagnostic of the vehicle. In addition to the pinhole leak, diagnostics showed that where the brake lines attach there is a leak at two of the components/areas, and told the vehicle would need new brake lines. We did not repair it at the place that performed the diagnostic. We are towing it to a Hyundai Dealership for inspection this week 3/21/2024. We have spoken to Corporate and were given a case number. No other inspections have taken place. Brake warning light came on last week. Malfunctioning brakes are a safety risk for everyone.

The issue is when I'm decelerating to around 5 mph and go to accelerate again, there is a horrible grinding sound from the transmission and I can no longer accelerate. I then have to stop and re accelerate. This is dangerous if there is a car coming and I pull out and have to stop all of a sudden. I have 2 separate videos of the issue. The dealership won't fix it under warranty because they can't replicate it. The dealership won't even take a look at anything.

My Check Engine light came on and stayed steady (not blinking). The Cause for it is Unknown to me. I took it to the Dealership and they scheduled me to bring it in 3 days later, 3/12/24, to determine if it was something simple or if would take up to a couple days to fix. They assured me that if the light remained steady, I would be fine to drive the car. If it began blinking, then bring it back in. If the fix would take a day or more, they don't do loaner cars so I'd have to rent one (no cars to borrow and Ubers don't take wheelchairs). Approximately an hour after I arrived on 3/12 (I had to wait for my car), they gave me my car back. They had to order a part that was on back order that could take weeks or months to arrive. The part had something to do with preventing the engine from overheating, but I was not to worry so long as the Check Engine light stayed steady. They then asked how many miles I typically drove each day, "just around town, right?" I answered, usually, but that I was currently taking medical treatments for the next two weeks which involved around 70 miles roundtrip plus my usual daily miles. The Service person winced at that. They then told me that if the car overheated, to not worry, just pull over until it cooled off, and if it didn't, just use the Roadside Assistance service, then bring the car to the Dealership and they'll give me a loaner car (?!?) until my car could be repaired. A bit in shock, I left. After thinking about it, I find the Dealership's handling suspicious. 1) They didn't give me any paperwork. In all previous interactions, they've given me paperwork even if I've only had my fluids topped up. 2) If a back ordered part could take up to months to come in, it seems most likely to me that the scarcity is due to huge number of customers needing the part, not a supply-chain issue. I am disabled and in a wheelchair, so need my car to take care of myself. I hope everything is actually okay. If not, please help.

The horn has failed; will not produce sound. The fuse has tested good for continuity. Many online threads offering the same horn failure from Hyundai but no recall, at this point. This is in direct violation of Florida statute 316.27...Horns and warning devices. I have a dealer appointment made.
