I notice a strange pulsing/hesitation when accelerating at partial throttle (maybe 10-25%) between 60-65MPH. It's quite alarming, because it feels like the electric motor is cutting out momentarily. I notice the same pulsing/hesitation during regenerative braking at the same speeds (as with the acceleration, it is only noticeable at partial regen). The dealer confirmed that they've noticed the same behavior on other new Ioniq 5 vehicles, but they don't have a fix. I don't know the safety implications, but I worry about the electric motor cutting out and affecting my ability to control the car during acceleration or regenerative braking.

The Driver Attention warning activates almost every 5 minutes. No glasses are involved. I have tried many different steering wheel positions. There are plenty of other 2025 IONIQ 5 owners with the same issues as seen on forums. There is a setting to turn it off but it does not turn it off.

I leased a 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 with the exact same issue. The VIN is [XXX] My new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is having the same problem again! Vehicle will hesitate/shudder and pulsate at highway speeds. Between 57mph and 78mph seems to be where I can feel it the most. This happens on all drive modes and with or without brake regeneration turned on or off. Nothing seems to make it worse or better. Here is an example. If you are driving 65mph on the highway and holding your speed steady, the car motor feels like it's cutting in and out. Juddering forward and back. If you accelerate a tiny bit, it gets ever worse. It feels almost like the input signal from the peddle is choppy, causing the car motor to judder. It is a forward to back motion. Not a vibrate or side to side motion. Dealership said basically they'll keep the car and possibly we can hope Hyundai will lemon law me out of the car. They basically said sorry but they can't help.

Last March 12 2025 I heard a pop coming out of a parking lot and warning message appeared. I was able to drive at decreased speed to the dealer. They diagnosed it to be an ICCU failure. It took 6 weeks to get it replaced.

I have had my new car only two weeks and have driven only 500 miles. Yesterday, while driving on a freeway at constant 65 mph speed, I suddenly experienced COMPLETE POWER FAILURE. I coasted across three lanes of heavy traffic and came to a stop on the shoulder. There were no warning lights on the dashboard. I turned the car off, turned it on again, and the car drove normally. I checked on my Hyundai app and it said under Vehicle Health that all systems were normal. I called the Santa Monica Hyundai service center and was advised to drive home to Santa Barbara (on the freeway) and get in touch if the problem recurred. I drove my car some 50 miles to Santa Monica to be evaluated and the service rep said that all makes of EVs have this problem, not unusual. After some hours, I spoke to the shop foreman who said he had never seen this problem, that the diagnostics had shown no problem, that there was no indication that this had indeed happened, that he could do nothing further unless there was proof that I had experienced complete power failure, and that if it happened again I should obtain proof by videoing the dashboard and my foot pressing down on the accelerator without any response. I called the Oxnard Hyundai dealer where I had purchased the car and was advised to bring my car there for a second opinion. I drove the 60 miles to their service center. I was told by the service rep that he had never heard of this problem. I was given a loaner car to drive the 40 miles home and my Ioniq 5 was kept for evaluation. I discovered on Google that sudden power failures in Ioniq 5's are a known problem by both Hyundai and the NHTSA and that there have been recalls as a result. It seems reprehensible that Hyundai representatives in two different dealerships claimed that they had never heard of this phenomenon. I was at risk of a potentially deadly accident by losing power on a freeway. I am lucky to be alive.

ICCU failure, resulting in 12v discharge and complete immobilization of car. The car's safety systems gave sufficient warning to allow me to get somewhere safe -- but the nature of the failure also disabled it's ability to maintain a call with blulink to coordinate a pickup. Luckily my cell also had service.

When coming to a stop on a slight incline, the vehicle will come to a full and complete stop and occasionally begin to roll backwards after half a 2nd without changing brake pedal position. If the brake pedal is not push further down, the vehicle will continue to roll backwards. I have tested this on multiple IONIQ 5 models with the same result (2022 and 2023). This could cause a collision if there is another car behind the problem vehicle. No warning lamps. Both vehicles have done this since new. Nothing is wrong with either of the vehicles according to multiple dealers.

The contact's daughter owns a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5. The contact stated that the vehicle had been delayed in starting on several occasions. Additionally, the contact stated that while the contact's daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact stated that the failures had occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the battery had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The car was down to 16% charge on the battery so I put it on the 220 v charger at my house. The next day I went to leave and removed the charger from the car and started it. I heard a pop and thought the garbage truck doing weekly pickup had run over something but now I think it was a noise from the failed component. Got in the car and started it and saw a yellow circle with the words “check electrical system”; I had seen this error message once before following a software update to the ICCU back in September 2024 [turned the car off and back on and the error went away] so I did the same thing again but the error didn’t go away instead the circle warning on the screen went to a red circle and read “stop the car and check the electrical system”. Went inside the house and called the closest Hyundai dealership [in Longmont since the one in Boulder closed with no warning] and after some back and forth they told me to have the car towed in since the 12 v battery charging system wasn’t working and it controls many things like power steering and regeneration braking and can cause a loss of power making the car undriveable and unsafe. Towed the car in and got a diagnosis of a failed ICCU module. The part is on order and I have no idea when it might actually come in and get installed. Hyundai is aware of problems with the ICCU and 12 v charging system and has issued several software recalls; this ICCU problem is all over the Hyundai Ioniq 5 forums and is a widespread issue with the Ioniq 5. I’m lucky this failure occurred at my home versus when I was driving or many miles away or at night cuz I would have been stranded.

I am the owner of a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 with Vehicle Identification Number [XXX] I purchased/leased this vehicle on [XXX] from Stockton Hyundai. Over the last couple of months my vehicle has experienced an ongoing charging defect: it only charges on Level 1 but fails to charge properly using Level 2 or DC fast chargers, which significantly impairs its use, value, and convenience — a key feature advertised for this vehicle. The issue has not been confirmed by the dealer as they have not been able to figure out why it’s happening and the vehicle has not been inspected by anyone else I also feel like it’s a safety risk because I’m at risk of being stranded. You cannot wear dark sunglasses while driving this car, as the safety systems are turned off because the car fails to recognize your eyes, as it can't see them through the sunglasses. How does the research and development side of making this ioniq 5 not see this? This ultimately forces you to drive without sunglasses, causing an unsafe environment while driving. This is a bad design for the car.

Ok.... So, if anyone reads about Hyundai Electric line.... Ionic series... they would know that since Day 1, Hyundai has had problems with their electrical system. It 1st started with the system never charged the onboard standard 12V battery. I had to purchase Jumpstart boxes, I couldn't run my car ever on acc bc since day 1, my car has never been charging the onboard 12v battery. This caused me to not be able to start my car on more than 5 occasions. I had to ask strangers for help at times, locked out of my car on the side of the street, in parking lots, driving to Auto Zone after a complete trickle charge didn't work bc battery is so drained. During this drive, my cars safety features wouldn't work correctly, everything blinking and i had to make it to Auto Zone to have to buy a new GSM battery. I feared for my life on that drive. Certainly a safety issue. When I asked Hyundai on numerous occasions, they said there's no way for us to test if the recall fix we did actually is helping the issue. So I had to buy my own DC volt meter. I took that car in 4 times to deal with this issue. Now, after my last visit to Holler Hyundai in Winter Park a few months ago, now my car won't charge at home. I tested it with the 2nd charger. F2 fault code on standard home charger. Red lights on my ChargePoint charger. Car charges fine at DC Supercharger (6 times as expensive). I have told Daytona Hyundai multiple times (General Manager knows me) about how I have taken this in to have this problem fixed on many occasions. The GM said he apologizes, doesn't know why it wasn't fixed, they were unprofessional aside from him making many mistakes. The original dealer i bought it from was a bad experience and I do not trust them at all and would not buy from them ever again. I have video and pics of spiders in my car/roaches, etc. Dealership didn't even respond after I emailed them pics. I have bought and owned over 30 cars. This definately needs attention

Car started issuing a burning smell, emitting a noxious burning smell through the air vents making it impossible to drive with the windows closed. The HVAC system had to be shut off. The Ioniq 5 and all E-GMP Hyundai vehicles have known issues with the charging port and ICCU (integrated charging control unit). This vehicle has had all previous recalls related to charging and the ICCU addressed, but it has still resulted in failure of the vehicle charging port. Dealership stated charging port needed to be replaced, but stated it would not be covered under warranty with now explanation provided despite the fact that this is still covered under several recalls.

Car constantly gives false alarm that driver is not looking at road. It’s particularly bad with sunglasses or even normal glasses, but false alarms are common even without glasses in strong sunlight. It’s a serious safety issue because the car constantly beeps false warnings and threatens to disable driving assistance. Internet forums are full of users reporting same issue, this component is defective.

On 4/7/2025 the vehicle came to a dead stop while driving about 45 mph on a highway entrance. I was able to get the car to the edge of the highway but it was completely inoperable. It required towing to the nearest dealer. After a day diagnosis it was determined that the ICCU and 12 volt battery had failed. I was stranded on the edge of the highway while waiting for a tow. The problem was confirmed by the dealer, replacement parts were ordered and the repair completed seven weeks later. A warning message appeared so briefly that I could not read it before the car failed completely.
