- #11551920October 25, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Today, October 25 was the fourth time my 2018 Honda CRV abruptly braked and stopped without warning. Today I was driving in a construction zone, and I was approaching metal plates on the roadway. I was traveling about 15-20mph when my car abruptly stopped. I was almost rear-ended by the truck driving behind me. The first time was in a construction area with a metal plate on the roadway and I was traveling 25mph when my CRV abruptly brakes without warning and stopped. Again, I almost got rear-ended. The car behind me brakes hard and swerved i to the other lane to avoid a collision and then honked at me when passing. Other times I am driving on the roadway, traveling 40mph when my car abruptly brakes but there isn’t an object in front of me. I’ve called the dealer and made an appointment for 10/26/23 to see why my CRV forward collision mitigation is misfiring. The technician will drive in the construction zone. I’ve driven in the same construction zone without any previous problem-today was a misfire. What if I’m driving at freeway speed of 65-70 and my CRV brakes suddenly without reason? This is a serious situation-with fatal consequences. My dashcam may have picked it up. I haven’t checked.

After battery replacement done by dealership Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning, horn was off, lights were on, keyless remote can not be detected, many safety system errors etc. Called road side assist, after entire system reset, everything seemed to be normal, but problem showed up again on Saturday morning. Towed car to dealership, they checked everything and turned out to be body control module problem, had to replace body control module. My car only 5 years, 55k miles. It happed so randomly, faulty locks, faulty anti-theft, and can be a huge safety concern/issue.

The steering wheel is choppy at times and sticks. Small steering corrections feel like they are incremental. According to the Honda dealership, they were unable to replicate the problem, but it occurs every time I drive. I understand many other 2023 Honda CR-V owners are having similar issues. Please….include this CRV model along with the ‘22-‘23 Civic investigation.

One year after I bought my new 2020 Honda crv the Torque Converter seal leaked and the oil seal was replaced. I had only 4670 miles on it. In August of this yr 2023 my battery died in the middle of no where and had to wait for AAA in 103 temp for 45 minutes. Today October 20th,2023 my car stalled in the middle of a 4 lane busy intersection. The car was towed to the dealership and the fuel pump was replaced at only 14,400 miles! this vin has had no recalls but im so disappointed since I bought a Honda for its reliability. I have a disabled 81 yr old husband and this has been more than stressful. My warranty expires this Dec 2023 and im afraid I bought a lemon. Sticky steering. The symptom is most noticeable going 40+ mph but is also felt while stationary. When the wheel is at 360 deg, it requires more force to turn it left/right +/- 5 degrees. In one instance while on an off-ramp, had to apply force to the steering wheel which resulted in oversteer and required correction.

"Stickey" steering. Produces momentary increases in steering effort while driving the vehicle. Happens at different speeds, especially on highways after driving for a certain amount of time. My vehicle currently has aprox. 12,000. This issue was noticed after 10K

Steering feels "sticky, jerky", like it takes extra effort to turn, and seems to jerk while driving without me moving it. Worse at speeds above 40 mph. Turned off lane keep assist, and nothing changed. The EPS rack seems to be the issue, according to other owners with the same problem.

I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the 2018 Honda CRV that I purchased from Honda dealership in Bellevue, Washington state just a few short months ago. Initially, after several week ago from the dealer, all warning lights on the dashboard were illuminated, prompting me to bring the car to your dealership for an evaluation. Following your team's assessment, the car was upgraded with software in accordance with Service Bulletin [link to the bulletin: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10154475-0001.pdf However, this was only the beginning of our troubles. In the past few months, my family, including my 9-year-old son, has encountered a series of issues that have severely affected the safety and reliability of the vehicle. We rely on this car for various family activities, including picking our son up from school and transporting him to various extracurricular activities. On multiple occasions, my family has been exposed to a strong smell of gasoline within the vehicle while driving, even with my 9-year-old son and wife in the car. This issue has persisted and continues to be a major cause for concern. Despite these issues, when I reached out to the dealership for assistance, I was informed that I would be required to pay an inspection fee. Given the seriousness of the problems and the potential safety risks associated with the gasoline smell, I felt that it was unjust to be asked to cover this cost and, as a result, I declined the inspection. The most alarming incident occurred last Saturday Oct 21 2023, while driving the vehicle from Bellevue, to Sammamish back home. The car abruptly lost all power while I was traveling at 40mph. This not only posed a significant safety hazard but also led to an emergency situation. I had to pull over, turn off the engine a couple times, and restart the car to regain power. We barely drove this vehicle back home. Throughout this incident, all engine warning lights were illuminated.

At highways speeds, steering becomes noticeably "sticky". Instead of remaining smooth, as you turn the wheel it poses some resistance, requiring a stronger nudge. This is worrisome as it causes you to inadvertently steer more than intended. The issue is present in slow speeds too, but not as perceptible because it seems to happen when the steering wheel is at rest. Since city driving requires frequent adjustments to steering direction, one has to pay more attention in order to notice instances where the wheel "sticks".

The car makes loud noise when the speed was about 50-60 MPH on a highway, the RPM went above 50 - 75. It wouldn't accelerate as I pushed the gas pedal. It's not moving as required. It was scary. It's dangerous. Something is wrong with the system, or transmission. Please fix it. Thanks.

The steering seems to stick when making minor corrections. Is annoying but could be dangerous at highway speeds or in slippery conditions.

We have a 2023 CRV with 5400 miles. I started noticing the problem at about 3500. Originally I only noticed it while traveling at highway speed on a relatively straight section of road. Now I feel it almost all of the time. It's like a little resistance hurdle you have to jump over to get the steering wheel to turn. Once over the hurdle, it steers normally. It can even happen at slower speeds in the middle of a long turn like a freeway entry or exit ramp. When the wheel is held in a given position for a second it takes some extra effort to get it out of that position. Yesterday I was driving in heavy rain in heavy traffic on the freeway. This extra effort required was almost making me oversteer into the car next to me. I'm [XXX] and in pretty good physical shape. I pity the poor 80 year old lady this happens to. There will be a crash and everyone will assume it was the driver's fault. I have taken it to one Honda dealer and they drove it and felt the issue. They checked their database and found nothing. I'm taking it to another dealer tomorrow and will be very insistent that they dig into the issue and replace whatever needs replacing. -Steering. Yes, available for inspection. -Sticky steering causing me to oversteer. This could be dangerous in heavy traffic at high speed. -One Honda dealer drove it and could feel the problem. I am taking it to another (closer) dealer tomorrow. -It has not been inspected yet. I guarantee you this is a problem that needs to be corrected. I have seen many posts of other owners with the same issue. -No warnings. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle has now began to have sticky steering with only 13,000 miles. You can feel the steering wheel fight against a you at really low speeds. It is worse on highway speeds and almost impossible to maintain your lane due to over correction on the steering wheel locking. The vehicle now does not feel safe to operate. I began to think it was wind on the highway or the lane assist working against me. These do not seem to be the issue. The issue comes from a faulty steering system.

Driver side actuator has failed. The driver door won't open at all. Other doors must remain unlocked or I can not get into the car at all. The door lock won't move either.
