The vehicle’s HVAC/A/C system malfunctioned. The primary symptom was hot air blowing from the driver-side vents while the passenger side intermittently continued blowing cooler air. The issue appeared suddenly with no prior indication of problems. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. I currently live in [XXX] , where extreme heat makes functioning air conditioning an important safety feature. Loss of reliable A/C creates risk of heat exhaustion, dehydration, impaired concentration, and unsafe driving conditions for both the driver and passengers, especially during long drives or heavy traffic in high temperatures. A significant risk to health and safety. 3. Yes. The issue was reproduced and confirmed during inspection by a service center/dealership. The vehicle demonstrated inconsistent cooling performance and hot air from the driver-side vents. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by a service center/dealership for diagnostic and repair purposes. 5. No warning lights, dashboard messages, or HVAC-related diagnostic codes appeared prior to the failure. Additionally, during regular maintenance visits and dealership multi-point inspections over the years, no HVAC concerns, refrigerant leaks, or preventative maintenance recommendations were identified. The issue appeared suddenly during normal vehicle operation without advance warning. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have had multiple problems with the AC on my 2019 Honda Civic now for some years. There have been leaks, issues of blowing hot air, replacing of parts, etc. The evaporator was replaced before (warranty extension) and then eventually the Freon 1234 leaked out. I've been told the expansion valve was leaking by one shop, and another tells me the evaporator core has a leak. The dealer wants $2,800 to replace the evap core and recharge the system. This is all maddening. I'm asking if the compressor shaft seals are OK (they say they are, but who knows for how long) per the Honda warranty extension issued. I used to have a 2006 civic and the AC worked FLAWLESSLY for 16 years! What's up here?????

- #11737354May 12, 2026LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, SEATS, SEAT BELTS
Accident happened while driving on a two-way county road without center lane markings. The driver was leaning to the right of the road. The lane keep assisting overcorrected to the left hitting a culvert. Upon the crash the seat unlocked from its position and slid towards the steering wheel. The seat belt did not lock in time to prevent the seat from considerable forward movement. The airbag located inside steering wheel seemed only partially inflated. No other airbags deployed. The combined malfunctions resulted in the driver's left foot being crushed (various fractures and joints dislodged), and right ankle fracture and dislocation. The driver was the only one involved in the cash. However, other drivers could have been affected by the sudden change of lanes - especially if driving the opposite direction. The issue has not been reproduced as far as known (unable to find any reports, images or videos online). There was no inspection following the accident. The car had previously shown unexplainable lane keeping assistance overcorrections before, but there were no system failure warning lights. The seat sometimes needed readjustment (the locking system would click, but the seat would not remain in place). Summary of issues: -Lane keep assisting - overcorrected leading to hitting a culvert on the opposite side of the road. -Driver's seat unlocked forward toward the steering wheel when car hit the culvert. -Seatbelt did not lock appropriately to prevent seat moving forward toward the steering wheel. I am unsure if the car is still available for inspection. It was totaled by the insurance company. For the past year anytime I drive my vehicle above 40mph I notice the steering feels “sticky” and often you have to use additional effort to turn the wheel which cause the wheel to jerk to whatever side you attempting to turn the wheel. Apparently this is common on the same year civic but the dealership stated my vehicle VIN is not included on the list of vehicles that need the repair. The vehicle feels unsafe to drive as it is hard to maintain in the lane and shift lanes.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2016 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while getting maintenance work performed on the vehicle , her mechanic discovered a mileage discrepancy through a Carfax report. The contact stated that she was given a Carfax report upon purchase of the vehicle; however, the report she was given did not match her mechanic's Carfax report. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 120,000 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 190,000.

At speeds between 40 and 70 my 2021 Honda Civic EX Hatchback steering feels sticky when making small adjustments. There is a slight resistant in steering when a slight correction is needed. Once that resistant is overcome, the steering wheel jerks in the direction of the correction potentially causing an over correction. This is a safety problem and can cause an accident. I am not seeing any warning lights or warning noises.

I have recently purchased a 2018 Honda Civic LX at 39k miles and now at 42k miles and only six months of owning the vehicle I am experiencing the sticky steering at 35mph or faster due to the worm gear in the EPS Gearbox assembly in 18V-663, NHTSA Recall 18V-663, however my VIN was not listed as eligible. I was able to have the fuel pump recall replaced immediately after I purchased it in September of 2025. But now find myself with the plagued steering issue that notches at center when you try to lane correct or bend into a turn. It is alarming and while manageable at slower speeds in town, I intended to use this car to teach my daughter to drive. I am concerned for the safety and chance of over correcting while driving already hazardous winter conditions in northern Maine that this poses a legitimate risk at highway speeds. Thank you taking my report with consideration. Please take care.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally address a serious issue regarding my recent service experience at Freeway Honda and the unfair handling of my case by American Honda concerning my Honda Civic (VIN: [XXX] ). On January 2, 2024, I brought my vehicle to Freeway Honda due to recurring air conditioning issues. My service advisor, Erick Zermeno, informed me that the system had three leaks: the condenser, the compressor, and the evaporator. While he acknowledged that the condenser and compressor were covered under warranty, he stated that the evaporator was not and quoted approximately $1,900.00 for the repair. Furthermore, he refused to repair the warranty-covered parts unless I agreed to pay out-of-pocket for the evaporator repair at the same time. When I declined, the manager, Jamie, required me to pay a $175.00 diagnostic fee to have my vehicle released, despite the fact that the inspection identified defects covered by the extended warranty. Seeking a second opinion, I visited Norm Reeves Honda in Irvine on January 31, 2024. Their technicians determined that only the A/C condenser and compressor were leaking. They repaired both parts at no charge under the warranty and found no issues with the evaporator at that time. It appears Freeway Honda attempted to charge me for an unnecessary repair and wrongfully collected a diagnostic fee for a warranty-related inspection. This matter has been reported to the Bureau of Automotive Repair. I previously filed a complaint with American Honda (Case #XXX) and requested a full refund of the $175.00 fee. Later on, the defroster and the A/C started to cause problems. On October 8, 2024, the A/C failed again, and Norm Reeves Honda confirmed the evaporator was leaking, resulting in a repair cost of $1,797.79. Although American Honda initially offered a partial reimbursement of approximately $960.00, which I declined due to the ongoing nature of these failures. Now, they rescinded the offer. The contact owns a 2017 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the steering column became stiff and over corrected the contacts steering efforts. The contact stated that on some occasions that vehicle was slowed down and pulled to the side of the road to gain control of the vehicles steering and on other occasions he continued to drive through the failure. The contact believes that the failures were associated with an unknown NHTSA Campaign Number. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

2016 Honda Civic EX-T 1.5L turbo. Coolant is disappearing with no visible external leak. Diagnosed by mechanic as likely head gasket failure. This is a known defect affecting 2016-2022 Civics with the 1.5T engine. There is an active class action lawsuit (Alcantara et al. v. American Honda Motor Co.) regarding this exact issue. Vehicle has approximately 190,000 miles.”

I purchased this vehicle in September 2025 with 9K miles. About a month after purchase, the steering wheel started to stick and it was difficult to keep the car center of lane. The car progressively got worse and is not drivable. I took the car to a local mechanic and an alignment was done along with tire balance, and rotation. The issue continue to get worse I took the car to Jeff Wyler Nissan for a diagnosis. They stated the steering rack and Rinion assembly needed to be done. The cost of repair is $4302.58. I submitted a claim with Honda hoping to get assistance with their Goodwill program they have denied the claim. Right before my purchase of this Honda Civic in September 2025 I purchased another Honda Civic and it had the same issue, but I returned it for the current Civic. The car is unsafe to drive.
