Sticky steering. Happens are speeds at 45mph and above. The steering wheel sticks slightly when turning one way or another. This has been going on for about 9 or 10 months. It is available for inspection on request. It could, or would comprise my ability to navigate safely on the road. My independent service center confirms the problem, but in the beginning he didn't notice the problem. A local Honda dealer checked for the problem in the early period, but said they didn't feel the problem. It seemed to get worse over time. No warning lamps, messages have ever appeared. My service center says the problem is not in the bearing, but probably in the electronics.

Warning lights appeared on my dashboard one morning. I took it to a honda dealer in frisco tx and they advised that my VSA module that controls my ABS system has failed. They advised the part is on back order and could not provide any repairs due to that. Currently my ABS system does not function due to the the failed part that Honda can not replace. They also would not provide repairs even I could source a used part.

I have a 2016 Honda civic around 48,000-50,000.00 miles I have noticed that the steering in my vehicle gets sticky/stuck while driving. This usually occurs on the highway while I’m driving at higher speeds and when I’ve been on the road for about 30 minutes. While driving on the highway the steering wheel gets “stuck” towards the left and I have to pull it to correct this position. It has made me fearful while driving especially at high speeds and I feel like the entire drive I have to white knuckle the wheel. If I do not continue to make the correction then the car would veer off into another lane. This is extremely dangerous and unsafe. It has also happened while I’ve slowed down to a traffic light and when I pulled the steering wheel back out of the sticky position I heard an adamant click. I started researching and saw there are hundred if not thousands of these reports. I did send Honda a message to open a case which they sent a standard message back just saying to bring it to the dealer and closed the case. This needs to be fixed or rectified by Honda. I saw that there were some lawsuits but that they didn’t include 2016. It seems that the problem with all of these is the EPS Rack Assembly which is a fault with the manufacturer.

Our vehicle has just over 60,000 miles and has developed a significant "sticking" in the steering. This starts at around 50 miles per hour and gets progressively worse as speed increases. It doesn't completely seize but requires significant pressure to break the sticking. This could easily result in an overcompensation that leads to a loss of control. Once over 50 miles per hour, this issue requires constant attention by the driver. It is not an intermittent issue. We took this vehicle to a Honda dealer for repairs in July, but it still hasn't been repaired yet due to a shortage of the parts needed to repair this issue that is apparently well known by the Honda service technicians. Insult to injury is that once this is repaired, it will cost me over $3,000 as Honda has rejected our request to cover this repair.

The contact owned a 2018 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while in a drive-through line with the brake applied, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated. The vehicle then drove over the curb, veered to the left, crashed into another vehicle, a sign, and went over four lanes of traffic. The contact was unable to control the vehicle but was able to push the ignition button to stop the vehicle. There were no reported injuries, or air bag deployments. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company and deemed a total loss.

My brand new 2023 Honda Civic Touring with 3100 miles on it has begun developing a steering issue. When driving at speeds of 40MPH or higher, when my steering wheel is dead center, the force required to move it left or right has become noticeable that I really have to use force to get it to adjust. It's almost like it's locked or sticky. This is a frequent occurrence when trying to maintain lane centering or making small adjustments during small twists and turns on the roads. At first I thought my lane keep assist was malfunctioning, as the sensation of the system correcting for you is similar, but even when lane keep assist is off, this problem still occurs. Concerned about safety, maneuverability during unexpected situations... it's also really bothersome and distracting, you're constantly having to force the wheel to move to stay in lane. Will be taking it to dealer for an assessment, however this does not appear be an isolated issue and searching google yields very similar results to my experience. Should be investigated and remedied.

I am adding to the long list of duplicate AC complaints. I had cold air on the passenger side and hot air on the driver side. I brought in my vehicle to the dealership in response to two AC component recalls. I was informed the compressor, evaporator and condenser ALL had gone bad and needed to be replaced. They would ONLY cover the condenser and quoted $4,400 for additional repairs.

- #11539775August 21, 2023STEERING, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC), SERVICE BRAKES
The contact owns a 2017 Honda Civic. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The vehicle stability assist (VSA), the electric power steering (EPS), the TPMS and the brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as needed. The warning lights were no longer illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 50-65 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact was able to continue driving by using physical force to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that he arrived at the residence, parked, and turned off the vehicle; however, upon restarting the vehicle approximately 6 hours later, the failure persisted. The vehicle stability assist (VSA), the electric power steering (EPS), and the TPMS warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Fuel filter went on vehicle causing it to stall with my child in the car. Dealership misdiagnosed and replaced the battery causing the fuel pump to fail going down a very steep hill. There's a VIN specific recall on my year, make, and model of car; but not my specific VIN. Yet my car has all the issues and descriptions that were defined in the recall warning

Suddenly loss of acceleration. Transmission failure. The vehicle is at Stonecrest Honda. If not for my quick action and low traffic this could have caused a serious accident had I been at highway speed in heavy traffic. Stone rest Honda has confirmed transmission failure. Only warning lamps were unrelated. Intermittent lamps for the brake system and O2 sensor. Both rarely come on. Have had codes ran multiple times no one is ever able to fix the O2 code even the Honda dealership the vehicle was purchased from. Break system lights have been addressed and updates have been done previously and had only re-appeared just before the incident. I have had no issues with my transmission or I would have had the vehicle serviced. No slipping no strange sounds. This came out of nowhere leaving a parking lot from work not even 20 mph. I buy Hondas for the reliability and to have my transmission go at not even 100k miles is almost unheard of. My last Honda was 250K+ and still ran great when I traded it in for this one. This CVT is a problem.

Several times, while driving, my car would randomly slam on the brakes when there were no other cars around. I feel this is a safety issue that could cause an accident to the tear end of the car.
