Honda has a recall for 2017 Civics for faulty sticking steering racks. My vehicle has experienced the same issue and I have been fighting for two years to have it fixed. Honda refuses time after time to replace the steering rack stating my VIN isn't included in the recall. The same exact part number they have recalled and continued using year after year is on my Civic. They refused assistance for two years and now state my vehicle is out of warranty and they do not want to cover the fix.

She was seriously injured and hospitalized for several days. She is still under medical care. I think air bags on passenger side was defective. Due to defective air bags system, my wife had serious injury and had to go for medical treatment, pain and suffering. We like to investigate defect in air bags. My wife was wearing lap and shoulder seat belt. However, seat belt was not activated and remain loose. Due to loose seat belt, she was injured. Please help. Thank you.

I have noticed this issue sporadically when traveling at speeds usually below 50 mph. I've mostly only noticed this when traveling straight. Sometimes it will occur in small turns though. When the steering wheel is in the same position for some time (usually when traveling straight) and small corrections are needed to stay centered in the lane, I notice the steering wheel itself have a "sticking" type feeling. It requires more than a normal amount of force to get it out of this "sticking" feeling and resume normal control of my steering wheel. This is concerning because it affects driving safely. For being such a new car it is unacceptable.

Electronic steering is intermittently becoming "notchy" or sticky when making steering corrections. This appears to be a known issue with 2016-2024 Civics. I'm concerned this could lead to a loss of steering. Honda service is aware of the issues, but currently there is no recall for this component (electronic steering rack).

In the middle of driving, the power steering rack had a complete meltdown which caused the steering to lockup. Luckily my wife and kids were not hurt but according to Honda, the rack broke beyond repair out of the blue.

Whenever I drive down the road there is a tightness in my steering wheel like it’s locking in place. I have to turn it just a little bit to get it to not have that tightness anymore and when I do it jerks. This problem has almost caused me to have wrecks and has been going on for 2 months now. I’ve taken it to dealership twice to address this problem and they tell me they don’t know what’s wrong with it and they can’t fix it if it’s not gonna duplicate.

While driving the vehicle on an interstate for 40 miles, the steering became "sticky" and the vehicle was difficult to change lanes/turn when needed. Vehicle has 2700 miles and it only happens when at highway speeds. No lights are on the dash. Vehicle has not been to a dealership yet.

On [XXX] I had my wife take our 2022 HONDA CIVIC TOURING to COGGIN HONDA of ORLANDO for Maintenance Minder A,1services and to have them check as to why the car is making a funny sound when turning the steering wheel. Via text message, she informed me that they told her that the steering rack needed to be replaced and that it would cost $2245 with all the other services needed for the vehicle. I declined to have it fixed at that moment. October 19, 2023, I received an alert via HONDA LINK and saw there was a recall on the steering rack. On [XXX] I took the car back to COGGIN HONDA hoping they would now repair as it is now evident that the steering rack malfunction is not my fault and has an active safety recall. According to the technician, once he took pics of the part, he claimed it passed the inspection. That didn’t make sense to me. My HONDA LINK app still shows that the recall is active and I deserve the remedy owed to me and hope that the lack there of hasn’t caused further damage to my automobile. Also, I was told that the vehicle warranty had expired but the documentation attached clearly states that it is in effect until [XXX]. Please notice that they state that there are no active recalls on the vehicle. So now I am filing this complaint to have this safety issue resolved and to receive my remedy. Please see attached files. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We were making a left turn, and a SUV ran the red light across the street and ran through the intersection hitting us broadside at about 45 mph. We were traveling at about. 20-30 mph as we were going to the freeway onramp and had to get to speed. The SUV impact was by the front passenger side tire or just after. The impact was hard enough to bend the subframe to the left. The side air bags did not inflate. We have always had issues with the child safety sensor in the front passenger seat, could that have been the reason? The passenger in the seat was about 105 -110 lbs. and hit the door panel and glass as a result of the air bags no deploying. The hit was bad enough it killed the engine and the frame damage further disabled it.

I am the original owner of a 2017 Honda civic ex . Recently I have been experiencing a "sticky steering wheel". When driving the car will veer to the left or right. The steering wheel feels stuck and causing over correction and erratic jerky car movements. There is also a clicking sound when moving the steering wheel out of the "stuck" position. I see this has been an ongoing problem with the Honda civics on the 2016 -2023 models with over a half million recalled in 2022 -2023. Honda of America says that there is no recall for my VIN number and until the NHTSA says so that they will not take any action for this ongoing safety problem and I will have to pay for any repairs.

While driving on a highway/straightaway, after the vehicle is warmed up for 25-30 minutes, the steering wheel feels stuck while it’s straight up and down, and then skips/jumps/slips as slight adjustments are made to remain centered in the lane. I expect it to be smooth while making these small adjustments to stay centered in the lane. Sometimes you must force the adjustment to remain centered and the skip/jump/slip is more drastic. One time, I had to use more force than normal and almost over-corrected and crossed lanes. This has been happening with this vehicle for about 7 months now. Every time it's driven, this happens. Honda service says it's that lane departure feature and it's normal. I have even experienced this a couple of times while the vehicle is stopped—if you slightly adjust the steering wheel, the steering wheel feels like it is stuck and if you force the steering wheel it releases and skips/jumps/slips. This does not happen all the time.

The steering wheel feels sticky at speeds over 15 mph. It is not easy to make a small correction when driving on the highway.
