I bought my 2022 Honda Civic last week. I knew going into my purchase that there was comments about sticky steering, I didn't notice it much while test driving. I loved my 17 civic that I had to replace (unrelated) and fell in love with the look of the new civics so I went through with the purchase. A week after purchase I definitely notice sticky steering when making micro adjustments while driving above 50 mph. Specifically when turning the wheel over the 0 degree mark of the wheel, there is noticeable increased resistance. I notice it while turning at certain points as well. The wheel also does not self correct very well. Say you let go of the wheel to allow it to naturally straighten, it will get stuck at times. I'm not that large of a guy, but I do go to try to stay active so I am able to power through the sticky moments, but it is certainly annoying and unsafe at times. For an inexperienced driver or smaller individual it could definitely lead to accidents. I really hope there is a recall for this.

Every time I drive at highway speeds, my steering is noticeably “sticky.” It makes it difficult to make minor adjustments while on a curve. It has to “break free” in order to go back to straight. I took it into Honda for the recall and was told it wasn’t part of the recalled serial numbers and didn’t want to continue looking into it.

- #11587117May 6, 2024POWER TRAIN
The contact owns a 2015 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while making a left turn at a low rate of speed, the vehicle abruptly jerked forward and stalled as a loud banging sound emitted from the vehicle without warning. Due to the failure, the contact was forced to place the vehicle into neutral(N) and manually push the vehicle out of the intersection. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V574000(Power Train) which was linked to the failure. The contact called two dealers (Braman Honda of Palm Beach and Delray Honda) and was informed by both dealer that the vehicle was not a part of the recall. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

My AC system completely failed in my 2018 Honda Civic. I took my vehicle into to service and I was informed that all 3 major components of the AC system is leaking refrigerant. The main problem being the Evaporator has been leaking refrigerant into the car cabin. I have gotten spells of lightheadedness and the feeling that I will pass out and I believe the refrigerant leaking into the cabin is to blame. Honda is aware of the compressor and condenser and evaporator being prone to leaking but will only repair the compressor and condenser free of charge but not the evaporator. Honda is knows the evaporator is defective but does not want to admit it.

The air conditioning system has a leak. There are a lot of complaints about it online and they already issued an extended warranty for Civic vehicles covering up to year 2018 for a leaking condenser. Right now I have no air conditioning.

I financed this car 3 months ago, and I received a safety recall notice from Honda. Unfortunately, they don't have the necessary part until 2025. As a result, I've been unable to rent out the car on Toro for the past 2 months to make finance payments. Additionally, due to a previous car accident, I don't feel safe driving the car, which causes me anxiety. Now, I'm unsure what steps to take. I want to return the car without negatively impacting my credit score, as this situation is not my fault. I'm losing both money and payments because of the recall, and the car can't be fixed until 2025.

Steering system has developed a "sticky" (ratchet-like) feel. Steering is no longer smooth. Additional force is required to turn the steering wheel, which moves in small, jerky increments. Subtle, smooth steering changes are not possible, raising the risk that the vehicle will not travel in the intended direction. No accidents yet but feels less safe to drive. Car has not yet been taken into dealership or been inspected by others. It would be available for inspection upon request. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms. Problem is now pretty much continuous under most driving conditions.

The power steering light will come on and the cars power steering no longer works. I was driving down the road approximately 60 mph and the power steering light came on and I could barely turn the steering wheel. I was able to stop and shut the care off and restart and the power steering worked again. On future drives the power steering intermittently will go out forcing me to stop and shut the car off and restart. I took vehicle to Honda dealer and the dealership and I was informed I needed to replace the EPS control unit, which I did. The vehicle was clear of any problems a a while but the same issue is now happening again. Went back to dealer and they reset code 51-04 and said they could not find any problem. Less than an hour after leaving the dealer, the same problem was there again: loss of power steering. This is so dangerous. I've noticed tons of other people have this same complaint and it should be a recall issue and fixed.

Owns a 2012 HONDA Civic Hybrid. While driving ~30MPH, the IMA/braking/engine/charging/ABS lights illuminated. The car still driving but the hybrid system fails. Also, when starting the engine it switches to using the starter instead of the EV motor. The 12V battery will not charge and die soon, which increases the risk of a stall on the road, thus leading to a crash. The vehicle was taken to a Honda Dealer which suggests a Model Power Inverter failure. There is a Technical Service Bulletin: 20-030 (Warranty Extension: 2012-15 Civic Hybrid IMA Motor Power Inverter) related to the failing parts, however, the vehicle was not covered under the TSB. The vehicle was not prepared. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000 miles.

Car has power steering issue most noticeable at highway speeds. The steering sticks and has resistance to small adjustments, especially trying to go straight then suddenly the resistance gives way and the wheel snaps to the side over steering to that side. Issue has been going on for years and seems to be getting progressively worse. This issue seems to match the description of the EPS defect on 2018 Civics (NHTSA ID: 18V663000 ) but my VIN was not included in the recall, despite showing similar issues. Called corporate and was told VIN didn't match so not under recall and any repairs would not be covered.

I have contacted Honda Dealer and Customer Service in regards to NHTSA Recall Number 24V-064. Honda is declining to correct the recall due to shortage in supply of parts. Honda is indicating that only vehicle with the airbag sensor light on are being prioritize. This makes me uneasy as I do not know whether or not my vehicle airbag will work properly in case of an incident. There is no waitlist for remedy to be corrected.
