Driving home from work and was about 4 miles away from home when the "service stabilitrak' and "reduced engine power" lights came on. Safely drove home, parked vehicle on road to shovel driveway (snow storm). When I went to start it to move it into driveway "oil pressure" light came on. After moving it off street noticed oil on road where vehicle was sitting. Had towed to dealer where I get my oil changed (which was done about 3 weeks prior) they stated rear main seal went causing oil to drain from engine which also ruined my valves and threw out the timing. GM says they'll pay 25% of total $6200 bill. Although GM has yet to return a call regarding the case I opened with them on this asking for a larger percentage.

The rear main seal broke. Causing oil to leave the reservoir and empty the engine. This was due to a frozen pvc from cold temperatures. My vehicles engine light came on and I pulled over immediately noticing there was no oil. but there was never an indication of low oil. My vehicle is serviced with every 5k miles for oil. 109,000 miles on a 2017 terrain. Blew the rear main seal and caused other damage as well. This is a manufacturers faulty equipment.

All service was always performed on my car on schedule. I was driving from work to school to pick up the kids, and my car went silent and I had no control. Almost all the oil was gone and the timing chain had broke and destroyed my motor. I had just had the oil changed a few weeks before. Now it needs a new motor.

When I purchased the vehicle (2/2021), wipers were one thing indicated that was fixed, since then, they have gone out 3 more times, the first time (3/2021) the motor was replaced, the second time (10/2021) the wiper transmission was replaced, now they are not working again (2/2022), and I'm at a loss on what to do.

Garage says it is the ECM Garage says GM has a hold on the sale/install on f this part as there is a known issue involving all unit including my vehicle and newer. In October 2021 I took my car to have brake pads replaced, oil and filter change, and tire rotation. The day before the appointment the engine light came on. I parked the vehicle and waited for my appointment. The mechanic there told me there was not a drop of oil registering on the dipstick.... very odd considering I had the oil changed regularly. The appointment was completed and the engine light reset. The next day the engine light came back on and the code it was giving was for a Timing Control Solenoid, so I purchased the parts and took it back to the same mechanic. Engine light off- vehicle running normally- a few months pass-another routine oil/filter change in between and the engine light comes back on. This time I take it to a dealership and again there is not a drop of oil registering on the dipstick. Now it is sitting in the dealership garage waiting on parts to arrive to replace the entire timing chain assembly. I have read many complaints in the last several months about the same issue. This should have been a recall by now. If the timing chain were to snap it could cause heavy engine damage as well as an accident if on the road at the time. GMC needs to be made aware of this situation and the heavy consumption of oil. My mileage at this time is only at 82K - this should not be happening this early on.

I have had the same oil consumption and car stalling problems as everyone else. When the oil gets low after a few hundred miles, it stalls out when starting from a stopped position. It goes through a quart of oil at less than 1,000 miles. Add me to the list that says they need to recall the 2014 Terrains since they have the same problem as the 2011 to 2013 Terrains that were recalled.
