If there is an issue with the center molding (warped, damaged condition, loose, or if the molding is missing), the trim cover is now available separately. It is no longer necessary to replace the entire rear step assembly (402A48).

Summary
This article supersedes TSB 22-2150 and SSM 50970 to update the Service Procedure. For some 2021 Mustang Mach-E, F-150, Edge, Nautilus and Bronco vehicles technicians may experience the inability to update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM), telematics control unit (TCU) or gateway module (GWM) using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive. The PTS OTA Dashboard on vehicles with this condition may also display multiple APIM and/or TCU updates have failed, and/or a no OTA history message. In addition, on vehicles with this condition, the customer may have reported experiencing a Ford Power-Up software update failure message via the vehicle display and/or FordPass/LincolnWay. This may be due to an internal software error. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update and/or recover the APIM/TCU. Note: Only 10% of vehicles may require this procedure.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 (non-Lightning and non-3.5L PowerBoost), 2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit an illuminated anti-lock brake system (ABS) indicator and stability-traction control indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C1013:09 stored in the ABS module. This may be due to ABS module software parameters. To correct the condition, update the ABS module to the latest software level using the appropriate scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 2005 and applicable labor operations in Section 02 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with the branded B and O audio the rear speaker audio may appear to have reduced sound. Fading audio volume to the rear speakers/reduced audio volume from rear speakers is an operating characteristic of the B and O audio system. If the audio control module (ACM) and digital signal processing (DSP) module passes the Self-Test and Network Test without any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) setting as hard faults, no further diagnostics is recommended.

This may be due to various software parameters within the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM and reset the keep alive memory (KAM).

This condition may be caused by a broken anti-drain back oil plug in the oil filter adapter. The anti-drain back oil plug is now available to be serviced separately from the oil filter adapter. To correct this condition, follow this service procedure to replace the anti-drain back oil plug.

This may be due to a crack in the exhaust heat exchanger coolant spigots on the top of the exhaust heat exchanger. The exhaust heat exchanger coolant spigots are now released and should be serviced in pairs. It is no longer necessary to replace the muffler inlet pipe assembly for this type of concern. Workshop Manual, Section 309-00D has been updated to include a new service procedure. For claiming, use causal part 5A212 and applicable labor operations in Section 05 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. Heat exchanger coolant spigots - NL3Z-18663-A (2 req).

When diagnosing and repairing brake noise conditions, use the Workshop Manual (WSM) and the appropriate pinpoint test in section 206-00. The brake rotors should only be machined if directed by the WSM because one or more of the following conditions are present on the braking surface: scoring, excessive corrosion/rust or pitting, bluing/discoloration and/or heat spots. Some 2021-2022 F150 customers may have concerns including, but not limited to: no power to the distribution box, rear camera inoperative, rear park assist inoperative, box lights inoperative, power up/down tailgate inoperative, unable to open tailgate by tailgate switch, and no tailgate AJAR message when the tailgate is AJAR. These concerns may be caused by faulty connections between the pickup bed, tailgate, rear lamp assemblies, or bumper where connectors are disconnected, damaged, or coated with bedliner. Prior to performing any warranty diagnosis or repairs, verify if the vehicle had an aftermarket spray-in-bedliner. Any repairs resulting from aftermarket products/installation, including but not limited to a spray-in bedliner, are not covered under warranty.

This article supersedes TSB 22-2095 to update the vehicles affected. Some 2021-2022 F-150 and F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a B and O audio system may exhibit the rear window glass sliding panel rattling when in the open position and music is playing. This may be due to a low amount of seal extrusion pressure provided by the rear window glass sliding rail and/or the rear window glass sliding panel defroster wire harness vibrating between the two panels of glass. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to install the rear window glass sliding panel service kit.

Summary
Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a condition of intermittent headlamp operation while the vehicle is OFF and have diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1533 stored in the body control module (BCM). This may be due to the internal logic within the headlamp switch. Switch and/or module replacement will not resolve this condition. Headlamp operation is not affected while the vehicle is ON. A new headlamp switch is currently under development to correct this condition. Let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment in December 2022, when parts are expected to become available. Follow up with the customer to confirm the appointment once OASIS is updated with the repair information.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost engine may experience and illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P2ABA, P2ABC, P2AB7 and/or P2AB9 stored in the PCM. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. If no other DTCs or drivability symptoms are present, clear the DTCs and return the vehicle to the customer. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in October 2022. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available.
