- #11583240April 16, 2024ENGINE, POWER TRAIN
On [XXX], my 2019 Ford EcoSport came up with an alert that indicated to "see manual"; the manual indicated that this alert is due to the Powertrain. Hours later, I receive an alert with the engine oil symbol about the engine oil pressure low followed by the engine light appearing. I was able to get it into my dealership (Venus Ewald Ford in Cudahy, WI) the next day; it was informed to me later that day that these symptoms were due to the recall associated with the vehicle. It was a hassle obtaining a rental vehicle as the warranty states it "can only be a Ford Vehicle" I was told. On [XXX], I received a call from the dealership indicating that my rental vehicle was extended as they were waiting on a specific part from Ford. It is now [XXX] and I have not heard anything since 4/05/2024 about the vehicle's status. Moreover, I was informed I would have to pay a deductible which I should not have to as indicated it was all due to the recall and the letter I received regarding the recall states the "repair will be free of charge (parts and labor)." on 3/30/2024 I received a message on my dashboard that "oil pressure failure" was detected. Soon after I lost power from 30mgh to 10mph. When I parked, my engine was sounding like it was knocking and then metal against metal sound. I had my car towed to the Ford dealership that I bought it from and have had it maintained there as well. I was told that the oil pump failed causing catastrophic injury to my engine requiring a new engine. My extended warranty says that there is an advanced recall on the part that failed on my 2020 Ford Ecosport, with 65,000 miles, so they will not pay for my engine to be replaced. Ford Motor has not agreed that it is there fault my engine suffered due to the failed oil pump. So, I have no car, no loaner and no fix other than paying out of pocket nearly 10,000 to replace my engine that Ford Motor may or may not reimburse for.

I haven't had any problems yet. Ford has known about this for awhile. If and when we have problems my wife and I don't have the funds to thousands to fix it plus still paying a payment on it. We are [XXX] and [XXX]. I want it fixed or they can buy it back. There is no sense in this. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
