Sounds like a machine gun when trying to start. Have to turn key completely off to get the sound to stop. Not starting sometimes and cutting off when driving. Lost all power on a main highway including my brakes and power steering. Completely shut off. Also the back air AC doesn't work at times. Seems to not have enough power to roll down windows at times and you can only use one window at a time. Battery, alternator, and starter test fine. Replaced relays and still same problem. Throwing code for not reaching coolant temp. Replaced thermostat gasket still throwing code. No other codes or lights showing up. Heard of an ignition switch and power train recall but when I put my vin in it says there are none.

In August 2022, my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan began having a hard time starting; the engine would not turn over. It took 2-4 times of inserting the key fob and trying to start the van. I took it to O'Rielly's where they checked the battery. It was bad, so I had it replaced. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, my van began having the same issue. At lunch today, I tried to start the van. It turned over, but immediately died. I took out the key fob and attempted to start the van again. It turned over. Leaving work this afternoon, I had to try 2 times to get the engine to turn over, but it immediately died. The third time it would not turn over. The fourth time, it turned over, so I pressed the gas pedal to keep it from dieing. This evening after the van had cooled down I went out to see if it would start. I tried 6 times and the engine never would turn over. There have also been multiple occasions where the van will idle low while waiting at a stoplight or for a train. I researched recalls and found that there is a P54 recall for the fuel pump relay for 2013 Dodge Grand Caravans, however my VIN is not part of the recall.

The lock actuator on the driver's side sliding door has seized in the lock position in our Grand Caravan. Using the fob, the switches in the vehicle, and the mechanical levers on the door, we are unable to unlock or open the door. Researching this problem, I see that it is common in 5th generation Grand Caravans and Town and Countries and plagues both sliding doors, creating a safety hazard: in the event of an emergency, if both actuators were to have seized since passengers entered the car, it would make exiting the car slow to impossible, and therefore hazardous. I have heard from a mechanic that Dodge/Chrysler is aware of the issue. There is, to this point, no recall or safety bulletin, and apparently nothing is being done about it, and that needs to change. To this point, our vehicle has not been officially inspected, though all of the symptoms are exactly as can be found in the various reports on the internet. There were no warnings that the part was going to fail/seize.

The front seat passenger headrest broke open (the back of the headrest separated from the front which should only happen in a rear end collision) without cause. It appears to be a known problem with this seat headrest as noted on other Dodge vehicles which have recalls. If somebody was sitting in the sit when this happened, it would have resulted in a head and neck injury. The 2018 Dodge Caravan should also be on the list of having AHR (Active Headrest Restraint) system that is malfunctioning. This happened on September 5, 2022.

As of March 2022, the van has shut down while driving on the interstate. The steering wheel, brakes and vehicle become hard to use. The van will slow quickly and has come close to causing an accident on multiple occasions. When along the side of the road, its then a challenge to get the van to start. It will crank with no fire. This has occured over 10x and is occurring more frequently with time. Along with the shut down I have had issues with the vehicle not starting. It will crank with no fire. Several mechanics have replaced and wormed on the vehicle with no luck to the conclusion. Things changed: TIPM, engine computer, fuel pump, starter. I purchased this vehicle jan 2 2022.

My transmission turbo converter is going out and it’s not even at 80,000 miles. Along with my doors don’t fully shut on automatic shut. No crash or danger yet but being told it could put me and my family in a potential dangerous situation especially on the highway

The transmission pump malfunctioned. It was causing the car to lunge forward while the foot was taken off the break slowly. Had to veer off the road to keep from hitting another car from behind as the car stalled. Waited for about 5 minutes and was able to drive for the same thing to happen again. I ended up having to leave the car and have it towed the next day. The car was inspected by Wayne and Daves who found there was a transmission pump failure. The car was driven to verify and was not able to drive as it continued with the same problem. Dodge Grand Caravans were recalled for that exact reason in 2016 but mine was not, although it was built in December of 2015. 2017 I purchased my car. I had several problems with the key lock and car starting. Immediately tried to return the car but dealer wouldn’t allow it. I have now found out there were 2 recalls in 2017 I was not aware of this until now. Even though dodge has stated to me they were fixed as a consumer if my car was presenting issues so early on after these recalls I should have had a grace period to give the vehicle back if other issues were presented. Currently car is smoking on the drivers side with a heavy burning smell. Car is over heating as well as the car would not stop while I was driving it on8/23/22 in a mall. Car was shutting off a lot. I was under warantiy and took it to AAmco and found out there were transmission issues. My warranty company at the time let my car sitting at AAmco despite the major issue and refused to fix it as well as let my warranty expire. Now I am scared to drive this car concerned the vehicle won’t stop.

Passenger rear door would not lock and I have been unable to secure my car from theft. I put gorilla tape on the handle to discourage anyone from opening it. Then it started buzzing. My mechanic has "fixed" it twice, and he has it locking for now, but it buzzes EVERY TIME the door locks or unlocks. I am unable to keep spending money on fixing it and now understand that it is a known problem with this vehicle. It needs to be recalled and dealer needs to pay to fix it.
