VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while in the drive position and attempting to park, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated and lunged forward. The driver immediately removed the ignition key to turn off the vehicle. During the failure, the brake pedal was being pressed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,597. The consumer stated she no longer owns this vehicle. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED WITHOUT ANY FURTHER EFFORT TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. Consumer no longer owns the vehicle.*JB

ENGINE
I was driving my 2016 Chevy Cruze and a light appears om my dashboard saying the my engine was overheating. My mechanic was booked, and recommended a shop down the road. I brought my car in on 4/8/21. The Coolant housing and hose. Then on May 27th I was driving to the store and I received the same message that my car was overheating. I brought it to my mechanic after the long holiday weekend. He says it needs another coolant hose. My research shows that this is not uncommon in these cars. Isn't there something that can be done? I bought the car used in 2018. I have 97k miles on it, and I am still making payments.

STEERING
The contact's daughter owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that his daughter called him while at a stoplight to inform him that the vehicle lost power steering without warning. The contact informed his daughter to restart the vehicle while at the stoplight and to park the vehicle so that he could meet her. The contact arrived at the scene to inspect the vehicle and found no fault with the vehicle. The contact followed his daughter to her destination without further incident. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The contact was also informed that a representative would call him for further assistance. The contact received a call back from a representative who left a message asking how he would like to resolve the matter. The contact had yet to respond to the manufacturer. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V442000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.

POWER TRAIN
I was driving the car and the clutch was not engaging, went to the dealer and was advised to change the cylinder kit (GM part 24295457) and the pressure plate (GM part 55574768) and get charge almost 5k for the repair. The car has 50500 miles and has almost 3 years, the warranty is 5 years or 60000 miles, which I was in it. After I paid for the check up the dealer told me that is not part of the warranty. I did my research with my mechanic and said the cylinder kit was a manufacturer defect, and also was a recall on Europe with this type of car due to the type of the transmission (stick shift). Contact to GM headquarters and make a complaint, the answers from them as they contact the dealer and due to the car has an accident that was not reported they can not do anything with the repair. The accident was 2 years ago and the damage is only the body and does not involve the engine, powertrain, or even the frame of the car. In the resolution, they blame the accident for do not take a look or responsibility of their product.

ENGINE
The car overheated out of nowhere. Oil busted out of the compartment it’s supposed to be held in and got all over my mechanical parts inside the vehicle. My car caught on fire from the bottom where the engine and transmission are. The car started rattling and giving me warnings to get out of the vehicle because the vehicle was unsafe. It gave me the warning that the engine is idle, Engine locked up, and also an coolant issue. The car didn’t have issues before this. I literally had to jump out of the car with my family. The warning light for the engine and coolant came on. There hasn’t been In problems prior to this other than changing a sensor. The insurance was notified and don’t have a solution. We’re trying to figure out what to do because it’s not driveable. Going to contact Chevy dealer or GM as well.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle lost motive power without warning. The contact attempted to steer the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway but was unsuccessful. A fellow motorist assisted the contact in successfully moving the vehicle off the highway and onto the shoulder. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic and the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

This morning, I was making a right turn into a neighborhood when I hit a small hole in the road and the car turned off. It alerted me that it was power steering and airbags. Now when I drive into my driveway it may turn off because of the curb, when I turn into work it may turn off because there is a small area where the road has small holes.

Real bad oil leak my oil been leaking for months and a intake manifold code P2076 I really need this problem fix. I done spend a lot of money getting this car repaired everytime I get this Chevy Cruze out the shop something else wrongs I can’t out no more money into this car too many car problems I haven’t drove this car in 3 weeks because I was driving somewhere and white smoke started coming out the tailpipe bad somebody called the fire department and police on me that’s how bad the smoke was coming out the tailpipe mind you I had just got the car out the shop i had got code P0303 fix this car cost me alot of money I got alot of repairs done on this car

When in reverse on brakes do not engage properly-no braking action.. This same issue was addressed by a recall of 2012 models but GM has not issued a recall for 2013 models even though online research shows this is a common problem.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND I PAID $940.00 TO TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED AND THE QUOTE TO FIX THE PROBLEM WAS ESTIMATED TO BE APPROXIMATELY $2,000.00. I CAN DRIVE THE CAR, BUT I WILL NOT PASS THE OH EMISSIONS TEST UNTIL IT IS FIXED.

BRAKE PEDAL SINKS SLOWLY TO FLOOR AND BRAKES REQUIRE A STRONGER SHOVE TO ACTIVATE. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES ON FIRST DRIVE AFTER CAR WAS STATIONARY. SEEMS NORMAL AFTER THAT AT THIS TIME. CAR HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHICH SHARES A CLUTCH & BRAKE FLUID SYSTEM. CAR HAS ALREADY HAD CLUTCH SYSTEM REPAIRED DUE TO FLUID LEAK AND DEBRIS FROM CLUTCH RELEASE COMPONENT. EUROPEAN RECALL OF SIMILAR MODEL INCLUDES REPLACING BRAKE COMPONENTS AS WELL AS CLUTCH COMPONENTS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT UNDISCLOSED SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY LOOSE. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL POPPING AND METALLIC SOUND DETECTED. THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER WHILE ACCELERATING, WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND TPMS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MAP SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GENESIS CHEVROLET (21800 GRATIOT AVE, EASTPOINTE, MI 48021, (586) 804-7977) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRICAL CLUSTER, BRAKES, WATER PUMP, NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE, BODY CONTROL MODULE, AND COOLANT LEAK NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO HAMILTON CHEVROLET (5800 E. 14 MILE RD, WARREN, MI 48092, (586) 838-1537) AND DIAGNOSED WITH A LEAKING ASSEMBLY CAMSHAFT COVER, BELT TENSIONER, AND DRIVE BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,517.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE NOTICED A FRACTURE ON ONE OF THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT ON THE SIDE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT RECENTLY A PASSENGER IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE POINTED OUT THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT WAS FRACTURED ALLOWING WATER TO LEAK INSIDE THE VEHICLE INTO THE HEAD VISOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY NOTICED THE SEAL AROUND THE BRAKE LIGHT AND SURROUNDING AREA WAS NOT PROPERLY SEALED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
THE DRIVERS SIDE WIPER WOULD NOT WORK WHEN STARTED TODAY WHILE IT WAS RAINING WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I TOOK THE COVER OFF OF THE ESCUTCHEON ABOVE THE WIPERS TO SEE WHY THE ARM WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN BY THE MOTOR. THE ARM MOVED FREELY BACK AND FORTH ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE SHORT ARM FROM THE WIPER MOTOR TO THE DRIVE PLATE FOR THE WIPER WAS OFF. THE ARM WOULD NOT SNAP BACK IN PLACE. IT APPEARS THAT THE PLASTIC KNUCKLE HAS FAILED. WHEN SEARCHING FOR WIPER FAILURES IN THE CRUZE MOST OF THE COMPLAINTS WERE FOR THIS IDENTICAL FAILURE. MANY OWNERS WERE DRIVING ON THE ROAD WHEN IT FAILED AND I WAS FORTUNATE THAT IT FAILED BEFORE I LEFT FOR WORK AS IT WOULD HAVE FAILED WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THERE ARE NO RECALLS LISTED FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PART. SINCE IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE I DETERMINED IT IS BEST TO MAKE THIS FORMAL COMPLAINT. THE PART NUMBER FOR THE WIPER LINKAGE IS 95971326 AND THIS IS WHAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE ATTACHED PHOTOS SHOW THE ARM OFF IN #1 AND #3 WHILE #2 SHOWS THE POSITION WHERE IT IS NORMALLY.
