SERVICE BRAKES
When backing up, the brakes squeal, sometimes a little bit, sometimes extremely loudly. Initially only happened off of a cold start at the beginning of the day, but now happens about half the time when backing up. This started occurring within a couple of weeks of purchasing the brand new vehicle. It has been to the dealership twice and they have made no repairs because they reportedly cannot replicate the issue.

POWER TRAIN
The vehicle hesitates on flat roads at steady speed. The hesitation is noticable especially at around 25mph. The hesitation seems to be strong with the air conditioning on, and while in drive. When the gear is manually selected and the air conditioning is off, the hesitation is less noticeable. Hesitation is particularly strong and erratic when the engine and transmission are cold and the vehicle is going up a a steady incline with a gradual acceleration.

POWER TRAIN
Transmission failure at 2,600 mi under low speed. The vehicle lost momentum and revved before catching gear causing an intense jerk feeling like it had been rear-ended. Immediately following the jolt multiple errors were displayed across the dash including Drive-Start Control Malfunction, PKSB System Malfunction, Hybrid System Malfunction, DRCC & PCS system malfunction screens along with orange indicators for the brake system warning, driving assist, DRCC & PCS. I was able to drive the vehicle in limp mode, as the transmission wouldn't shift up or down, to my local dealer who was able to verify multiple Pressure Control Solenoid error codes. After conferring with Toyota Engineering, they recommended a full transmission and torque converter replacement. Parts aren't readily available and the repair is expected to take between 4-8 weeks as they wait for new parts to come off the assembly line. The dealership has provided me with a loaner vehicle and all work is covered under warranty.

SERVICE BRAKES
HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY failed. Lost all braking ability while driving. Had to use emergency brake for stopping. Dealer found the following codes: C1223, C1251, C1252 AND C1256. ABS CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, PUMP MOTOR IS LOCKED/OPEN CIRCUIT IN PUMP MOTOR GROUND. Hydraulic brake booster assembly was replaced with a new OEM unit and brakes now work as they should.

I have purchased this vehicle from the dealer at prestige toyota in ramsey NJ 2002- it was a certified dealer car. I have maintained my car and it still rides well, until about 2 weeks ago i felt the back of the car while driving 65mile hr highway that was curvy,felt like i was going to go out of control and it's never done that before. I took it to Toyota june 8th 2023 to get an oil change, and mechanic said my rear stable bar is missing due to excessive rot and the entire frame is rotted out and is not safe to drive, I am spending $1800.00 to get the AC recharged and rear brakes done. Come to find out that Toyota had recalls on the tundra and sequoia but if they used the same frame, why did they not recommend a fix before this happened, thousands of dollars later. I am not ready to give up my car, I have taken it there many times now my car is unsafe to drive. UNKNOWN OR OTHER, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
This vehicle has a blind spot but was marked as providing a monitor and many other safety features, none of which function as the navigation screen it dark. TOYATA believes this is nit a safety issue. TOYATA HAS NOT RELEASED ANY INFORMATION ON HOW TO REMEDY THE ISSUE WITH THIS SERIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUE. VEHICLE HAS 82,000 miles. The ENTUNE SYSTEM is a wide spread safety problem for many millions of TOYOTA VEHICLES. TOYATA offers no information to address fix nor acknowledgement of danger to owners driving vehicles with the BLIND SPOT FEATURE.

POWER TRAIN, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Throttle accelerates on its own when cold. This especially happens when vehicle has not fully warmed up in weather below freezing. I will let off the throttle and vehicle will continue to accelerate for several seconds before seemingly getting unstuck. There is no issue with throttle cable, and throttle body has been cleaned since the onset, which changed nothing.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Fuel tank develops crack and leaks when filled more than 10 gallons approx 1/2 full. There is a specific point on the tank where it cracks on top. The metal is very thin at this point and possibly with newer Ethanol fuels the tank expands and contracts far more in hot weather? This problem is well documented on Toyota Land Cruiser websites, specifically IH8MUD.com. The website is telling owners to log complaints with NHTSA. I would think leaking gas is a major safety issue along with being an emissions violation. Yes the vehicle is available for inspection. Manufacturer gives no response. The FJ 60/62 Land Cruiser (model before, did have a recall on the fuel tank) No warning lamps or messages OBD2.

Driving on trail ridge road in Estes park. Fuel boiled and gas flowed out of the vehicle around the gas cap. It presents a real fire and environmental risk in addition to causing property damage to the vehicle by potentially damaging the paint with the boiling fuel. The government has not done anything to address this design flaw with Toyota despite it being known for decades. This has been present with the 80, 100, 200 series vehicles plus the Toyota Tundra, Lexus GX and Lexus LX. There are a frightening number complaints about this. Just google Landcruiser, Tundra, Lexus GX, Lexus LX and fuel boil. The contact owns a 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 89V155000 (Seat Belts) and 91V110000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and it was confirmed that parts were not yet available and was no longer being produced. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Braking system failed. Unable to stop operating vehicle traveling 30 MPH without downshifting and allowing vehicle’s momentum to dissipate. Vehicle towed to repair facility. Repair has been completed. Repair facility, Love Field Auto, in Dallas, TX diagnosed concern (master cylinder +’ABS system failure) and replaced components. Vehicle had approximately 155K miles.

SERVICE BRAKES
I live in Utah, The incident occurred in San Francisco with children in car. going down one of the steeper roads towards fisherman wharf. the ABS alarm went off and I lost all breaking power. I immediately downshifted(automatic trans), used the emergency break almost killed some pedestrians.. pulled over. I checked all fuses, breaks. etc. I did not have any money, so as nightfall came upon us, with ABS glaring in our ears. I drove through the night back to Utah when the traffic was the lowest and used the emergency break all the way home, it was a horrific experience. The repair on this was not cheep where I had the ABS/brakes fixed so the breaks would work at our local dealer where I live, This was about 8-10 years ago, I am still pretty upset someone cold have been killed, why would the breaks fail if the ABS fails.. this could have killed my family and/or someone else. I would have to check with Menlove Bountiful Toyota for an exact date of repair.

I took my 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser for service at Victory Toyota of Canton Michigan on the 24th. While driving the vehicle i started to hear noise from the rear wheel and it continued to get worse. I had someone look into it and every tire on the vehicle had lug nuts loss to the point that you can move them with your hand. This really demonstrate lack concern to human safety and life. My family and I could been killed or seriously harmed from the carelessness of the dealer. This is not the first time this happened and one time we had 4 lug nuts not even put on vehicle. I need someone to address this ASAP.

POWER TRAIN
WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 2 CHILDREN ON A CITY STREET, THE ENTIRE CAR SHUT DOWN INCLUDING ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THERE WERE NO ADVANCE WARNING SIGNS OR NOISES UNTIL A MINUTE BEFORE IT HAPPENED. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. HAD I BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE AND UNABLE TO PULL OVER, IT WOULD HAVE CREATED A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CLOSEST DEALER WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE SPRING VALVE IN CYLINDER 5 HAD BROKEN IN HALF AND DROPPED INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON 2013-2014 TOYOTA TACOMA AND SIMILAR LEXUS VEHICLES IT APPEARS THERE WERE RECALLS DUE TO THE EXACT SAME ISSUE OCCURRING WHERE THE SPRING WAS DEFECTIVE DUE TO AN ISSUE BY A SPRING SUPPLIER/MANUFACTURING. ADDITIONALLY, THE 2013-2014 LANDCRUISER (SAME YEAR) ALSO HAD A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM OUTSIDE OF THE U.S. SINCE ONLY 3,000 LANDCRUISERS WERE SOLD IN THE U.S. IN 2014, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE NHTSA EXAMINES THIS INCIDENT CLOSELY (AS COMPARED TO 155,000 TACOMA'S SOLD THE SAME YEAR WHICH DID HAVE THE RECALL) . I STRONGLY BELIEVE THE 2014 LANDCRUISERS HAVE THE SAME DEFECTIVE SPRING VALVE ISSUE AS THE TACOMA BUT THE RATIO IS OFF SKEW AND NOT REPORTED YET. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR LANDCRUISERS ON THE ROAD!!! PLEASE RESEARCH.

TODAY I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE TIRE SHOP FOR A TIRE ROTATION. I WAS ADVISED THAT AT LEAST THREE OF MY COOPER DISCOVERER HT PLUS (285/60/18 MANUFACTURE DATE 3/18) HAVE BEEN PARTIALLY BEEN SEPARATED FROM THE CORE WIRE. ALL THREE WHEELS APPEAR TO BE ALMOST WAVY. I HAVE NOT FELT ANY SHAKING BUT I WAS TOLD BY THE TIRE TECHNICIAN THAT THE PROCESS IS AT THE BEGINNING STAGES OF SEPARATION AND THAT IT WILL GET WORSE.

MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS COOPER DISCOVERER HT PLUS IN 285/60/18 WITH MANUFACTURER DATE OF 3/18. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR A ROTATION OF TIRES AND I WAS ADVISED BY THE STAFF THAT MY TIRES HAVE SEPARATED PARTIALLY AND ARE IN THE PROCESS OF SEPARATING FROM THE BELT SYSTEM ON AT LEAST TWO WHEELS. ALL OF MY TIRES ARE FROM THE SAME BATCH AND INSTALLED ON ALL FOUR CORNERS. I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER BUT I HAVE BEEN ON THE HOLD FOR THE PAST TWO HOURS.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
THE DRIVER DOOR WINDOW / LOCK CONTROL MODULE WILL NOT LEARN OR RETAIN THE CONNECTIONS TO THE OTHER DOORS. WHILE THE CAR IS SHUT DOWN THE CONTROL MODULE WORKS AS IF IT IS IN NORMAL MODE AND CAN CONTROL ALL THE WINDOWS. THE 4 DOOR LOCKING DOES NOT WORK WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING BUT WORKS WHILE IT IS SHUT DOWN. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND EVEN WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DOOR MODULE DOESN'T WORK. THIS ISSUE STARTED WITH A GROUND IN THE PASSENGER SEAT HEATER SYSTEM WHICH DREW DOWN THE BATTERY SIGNIFICANTLY.
