The steering has become hard. There are no lights showing on my dashboard. The steering is hitching, catching, and hard to return to the center during slow and fast speeds. I feel it is very unsafe to drive. I have called the toyota service and they said there is an active warranty/recall for this specific issue (customer service program 22TE02) with other cars, but not my vin number.

Sheehy Toyota of Laurel sold me a vehicle that was on a stop sale for a serious defect recall. The dealership sold the car to me the same day the stop sale was lifted WITHOUT addressing the recall, and lied about them fixing it before it was purchased.

- #11746841June 26, 2026SERVICE BRAKES
A thumping noise on the driver's side can be heard at times when I encountered low spots. In addition, the rear brakes has grinding noise. Hendricks Toyota of [XXX] were made of the issues there times. On XXX during the schedule maintenance I asked that the hubs be removed again to check the noise. A ride along test drive was conducted by a technician. Due to rainy conditions it was noted that I would have to reschedule the test. The offical service records indicate the exact facts. I received a later email from the dealership stating they would not honor the return trip. A complaint was filed with the NC Attorney's General Office Consumer Protection. The dealership used deceptive practice and stated they had service the vehicle and never mentioned about the denied return for the inspection. They have been asked several times to remove the hubs but refused. As a 100% disabled veteran I relie on the vehicle for medical transportation and daily necessities to and from places. The Transmission has developed a leak around the torque converter. The front pump seal has failed, a worn pump bushing and or the torque converter hub is damaged. The risk of the transmission failing and leaving me stranded on the highway puts me at risk and also the oil leaking causing a slip hazard and ruining my driveway! 2018 XSE Camry 4Cyl, 114k Miles, 2026. Transmission is failing, and I bought the car used in Oct of 2025, 86k Miles. As of 2026 the car has started to make a noise that sounds like a jet engine when accelerating, and the transmission fluid is black. Went to a local transmission shop, and they told me the transmission is on its way out. I'm disappointed in Toyota's engineering this time around. I have a 2008 Tacoma with 320k miles, and I know a family member with an 2006 Matrix 310k miles with 0 Reported drive train issues. I will not be buying newer Toyotas moving forward until this issue is resolved. I also would like to note that Desert Toyota in Arizona told me the transmission was okay. I'm for sure they blew me off, because they didn't want to deal with my extended warranty at the time. They told me black transmission fluid was normal, and the metallic flakes were normal. I've been told by two independent shops this is not normal, and the transmission fluid should be pink or red and not metallic/sparkly. I wish I had pictures of the fluid, but we tossed it after the dealer said it was ok initially. I had a transmission fluid drain and refill from Desert Toyota and I'm positive that made my issues worse and now the jet engine noise is present. Right now I'm not driving the car because I'm nervous the tranny is going to completely fail before figuring out what to do with the car. I also would like to note, there are many online forums with other consumers stating the same issues and concerns. There are YouTube videos of "jet engine" like noises coming for the 8th gen Camry and Reddit Forums sharing similar experiences. I really wish Toyota would put out a recall to fix the issue! I see there is a class action law suit for the concern but with older vehicles like mine reaching higher mileage it looks like we will be the ones with no luck or answers from the manufacture.

Camry was sitting at the dealership since the Dec 2025 recall for a loose inverter bolt. Talked to Toyota and dealership multiple times, throughout the process, and kept being told there was no remedy and that there would not be one for a long time. Got the run around from Toyota Brand Engagement repeatedly, with no assistance except to be told I could submit a Lemon Law claim, which they then said would take at least 60 days to review. Desperate to have a vehicle back without the limitations of a loaner, I tried to buy the loaner as a resolution since I was at least used to driving it after having it for multiple months. They said they would look into this, but then said it would actually be a very lengthy process to decommission it as a loaner first, so this was not helpful solution. Since there was still no remedy on the recall, the dealership found a used vehicle similar to the loaner, but when I talked to them about how it would work financially for them to buy the recalled car back, they said my recalled vehicle had depreciation value, so trading it in would mean a loss of several thousand dollars, even though it was a brand new 2026 vehicle that was only sitting on their lot for 6 months unused because of the recall. So a used vehicle a couple yrs older would cost MORE than the original price on the 2026 new vehicle because of the RECALL which STILL has no available remedy. The latest remedy info says it would be approx Sept 2026. Toyota took an excessive amount of time and then had the audicity to charge thousands more to rebuy the camry and put me in something else because they could not fix it properly. And to top it off they had the nerve to then list the camry at a thousand dollars less then the original price despite telling me that it went down in value from the recall and time

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety hazard involving my 2011 Toyota Camry. The vehicle's dashboard has deteriorated and is melting, creating a sticky surface that reflects sunlight onto the windshield and significantly impairs visibility while driving. The dashboard continuously emits a residue that transfers to the windshield, making it difficult to keep the glass clear and further reducing visibility. The resulting glare can be severe, especially during daylight hours, creating dangerous driving conditions and increasing the risk of an accident. I understand that Toyota previously acknowledged this defect and offered a customer support program for affected vehicles. However, Toyota has denied assistance because it claims I missed a deadline for repairs. I never received any notification regarding the program or any deadline. As a result, the safety hazard remains uncorrected. This issue is not cosmetic. The melting dashboard directly affects the driver's ability to see the roadway clearly and safely operate the vehicle. The condition continues to worsen over time and presents an ongoing risk to vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and other motorists. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this matter and determine whether additional action is warranted to address this known safety-related defect. I believe affected vehicle owners who did not receive notice of the repair program should not be left with an unresolved safety hazard that compromises safe vehicle operation.

- #11745356June 20, 2026VISIBILITY/WIPER
I am reporting a safety issue with my 2011 Toyota Camry. The dashboard (instrument panel) has significantly melted and degraded due to heat exposure, creating a sticky and highly reflective surface. This condition causes sunlight to reflect off the dashboard and into the windshield, creating glare that interferes with driver visibility. This directly affects my ability to see the road safely, especially during daytime driving. This appears to be a known defect affecting similar Toyota vehicles. I was never notified of any extended coverage or repair program before it expired. When I contacted Toyota, I was told no goodwill assistance would be provided and no help is available, leaving me with a potentially unsafe vehicle and no reasonable repair option. I am concerned this is a widespread material defect that creates a driving hazard by reducing visibility due to glare and distracting reflections. I am requesting that this issue be reviewed for potential investigation or manufacturer action.

The vehicle’s front bumper under the passenger side keeps becoming loose with a large noticeable gap even after fixed by the dealership. Appears to be weak clips used by Toyota during the manufacturing process. Vehicle is new, purchased 1/2026 and this recurrent issue showed up at 1567 miles, vehicle has never been in an accident. Safety is at risk as in a matter of time I believe the bumper will fall off while the vehicle is in motion, presenting a danger to driver and other occupants, and a danger to other motorists. This issue seems to exist since previous 2025 models, Toyota appears not to care enough to provide a permanent fix.

- #11745221June 19, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
At approximately 93,000 miles, my vehicle experienced a sudden transmission malfunction. About one week before the failure, intermittent warning messages appeared for Emergency Braking Malfunction and Forward Collision Warning Malfunction. These warnings appeared and disappeared several times over multiple days. About three days before the major transmission issues began, the vehicle was taken to an authorized Toyota dealership in North Brunswick, New Jersey, for a routine oil change. At that time, the vehicle was operating normally, and no transmission-related issues were reported. 3 days later, the warning messages returned, and the check engine light came on. Around the same time, the vehicle began experiencing serious transmission problems, including delayed shifting, harsh gear changes, and RPM flare-ups without corresponding acceleration. These issues created a serious safety risk because the vehicle could hesitate or fail to accelerate properly when merging into traffic, turning at intersections, or attempting to avoid hazards. The unpredictable shifting and loss of power increased the risk of a collision. After the check engine light appeared, the vehicle was returned to the same Toyota dealership. The dealership performed diagnostic testing and identified internal transmission and transmission control system faults, including solenoid-related failures and torque converter clutch issues. The dealership determined that the transmission requires full replacement and provided a repair estimate of approximately $12,000. The vehicle has no known prior accident damage related to this issue. there are numerous consumer complaints involving similar transmission problems in 2018–2019 Toyota Camry vehicles equipped with the 8-speed automatic transmission. I am filing this complaint because this failure occurred at relatively low mileage for a Toyota vehicle and presents a significant safety concern due to unpredictable power delivery and loss of acceleration.

- #11745277June 19, 2026BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA, STRUCTURE:BODY:BUMPERS
Issue #1: When driving the vehicle, the center display will stop working, audio and other functions remain working, however there is no display, including when the vehicle is in reverse, resulting in a loss of visibility when backing due to the camera not being displayed, this presents a safety issue as a safety feature (the reverse camera) is not working. When the vehicle was taken in to the dealer under warranty, the dealer stated if the unit was replaced that the issue would “just happen again” and the only solution offered was to wait for a software update. A case has been opened with Toyota on this matter and they are unable to provide an ETA on when an update will be available, and are refusing to replace the display under warranty. Issue #2: The front bumper is pulling away from the headlight assembly on the driver side, this issue was addressed with 2 Toyota dealers, hey stated the clips under the headlight have broken causing the bumper to separate, claiming it was due to an “outside element” as the hood has been repainted and doesn’t match the bumper paint due to a scratch on the hood, when this was explained, they then changed their story stating there was a repair to the bumper, which is also incorrect as I have owned the vehicle since it was new, they then changed their explanation again stating there was damage under the front of the vehicle which is also incorrect, the vehicle has never been in an accident and has no damage other than rock chips that have been corrected with touch up paint to prevent rust. This causes a safety issue as the bumper is no longer secure in all areas, which they are also refusing to cover under warranty.

The front bumper under the drivers side headlight is detaching from the car. I brought the car to the dealership, they looked at it, said they pushed the bumper back in but i needed to make an appt. When i came back for the second appt, I was immediately turned away. They stated it was body work and they didn't do that type of work. I was sent to Bob Maloney Collision. There they took the bumper off, found no damage, put the bumper back on, calibrated the car. Before even leaving their parking lot, the bumper had detached again. I brought the car back a second time a little over a week later. They again took the bumper off, put it back on again. The first trip on the interstate and the bumper detached again. The car has not been in any accidents and there's no signs of curb damage or anything like that. This poses a safety risk due to the bumper being lose. At interstate speeds, the bumper clearly detaches. It could detach completely with the perfect gust of wind causing me to lose control and/or hitting other vehicles. A quick google search will show that there are multiple other incidents of this occurring. It is a known issue, though most report the actual fix as replacing the headlight assembly/bumper since the headlight is not in the correct position allowing the bumper to fully hook onto. The car is still under warranty but Toyota is giving me the run around. I opened a corporate case for reimbursement after no damage was found. When i went back to the dealership with this information and to attempt to get them to repair under warranty again, they were still trying to deflect and acting like they didn't want to fix it. I have an appt for tomorrow when the manager is there again. This will be the 5th time I've had it at either the dealership or the body shop for repairs in barely over a month and it still isn't fixed.
