My son was driving a 2026 Toyota Camry with approximately 2,000 miles when the wheel suddenly detached from the vehicle while traveling on the highway. The vehicle dropped onto the rotor and became difficult to control. Thankfully, he was able to safely get off the road and was not injured. No one outside of Toyota has serviced, repaired, or removed the wheel since the vehicle was purchased new. This was a serious safety incident that could have resulted in a catastrophic crash, severe injuries, or fatalities. We are requesting an investigation into the cause of this wheel separation and whether there may be a manufacturing or assembly defect.

June 9,2026 I was in gig harbor washington visiting my son. I pulled into the right side of the drive way as I have done a 1000 times over the years. I was slowly pulling up to the right side of the garage and the car surged forward at full speed 5 ft away. It smashed the front of the house. Filed a claim with USAA car insurance. Last year in August of 2025 I was in the Tag n Go car wash. I pulled up they stopped me and I put the car in neutral. This let the car wash pull my car throught the car wash on a one track driver side system. My windshield was covered with soap and the car surged forward and hit the SUV in front of me. When the soap rinsed off I wash under the car in front of me. I put the car in reverse from neutral. It caused no damage to the car in front but caused about $1700.00 damage to my car. The car wash had video that showed my car surge forward and hit the car in front of me. This is two incidents in 11 months of my camry surging forward.

While driving the vehicle on a street it shut off on it's own in the middle of the road. It was terrifying. Had it pulled to my house. Once I was able to get it towed it went to the Stockton CA Toyota Dealership and had it inspected with results of it needs a new transmission. I have not driven the vehicle since this happened, which is about 3 months now. It is financed through CAR MAX and I haven't had the vehicle a year. I have researched this and there are many having the same issues with this type of vehicle.

Once I was able to get it towed it went to Stockton CA Toyota Dealership and had it inspected with results of it needs a new transmission. They had no clue was was wrong with it just that it needed a new transmission. I have not driven the vehicle since this happened because it will not drive. It's going on 4 months now. The car at first was pulling and shaking and would not go into 3rd gear. It was stuck in acceleration. It was making a loud noise and it just got worse. I haven't had the vehicle for a year. I have researched this and there are many many having the same issue with this type of vehicle.

Disgusted & deeply disappointed in my first (& last) experience owning a Toyota is an understatement. I confidently purchased a brand new Camry in 2019, based on their reputation for reliability. But, as soon as the warranty expired, the problems began. First, the electronic water pump failed, costing me $1200. The thermostat failed while I was on vacation last year, costing $300ish. Multiple battery issues. Then, a few months pass, check engine light pops up. Says it needs an O2 sensor. Replace it, light goes off, only to come back a few days later. Take to dealership where they charge me $200 to diagnose. They inform me the car will not accept after market parts & I'll need to purchase one from them instead for around $600. Yes. $600 for an O2 sensor. At only 129k miles, the transmission failed. The car stopped in the middle of an intersection & would not move forward, nearly causing me & my child to be hit. Mechanic informs me that it can be upwards of $7k to replace with a used transmission, $11k for new, & that's only WHEN they can get the part, which is on back order for MONTHS. This is because the supply can't keep up with the demand, as this model has widespread transmission issues. It was explicitly stated it is a "manufacturer defect." Yet, no recall. My online research absolutely supports that this is a large & very common problem that should warrant some responsibility from Toyota. It was on a rollback 4 times in 1 year. So, I was put in a position where I was forced to buy another car, since obviously I can't go without one for months. My 6 year old car (at time of breakdown) is now basically junk. It sits in my driveway, worthless, just 7 months after payoff.

The 8-speed automatic transmission (Aisin UB80, the 4-cylinder variant of the UA80 family) failed at approximately 53,000 miles. Symptoms prior to failure: harsh shifting, RPM flare to 4,000 between gears before hard engagement ("thud"), loss of power in Reverse, and a metal-on-metal noise from inside the transmission when power was applied. No dashboard warning lights illuminated at any point. Safety risk: the vehicle would not shift normally and lost power in Reverse, with the engine revving to high RPM before abrupt gear engagement. This created a real risk of sudden loss of forward propulsion in traffic, abrupt unintended acceleration on engagement, and inability to safely reverse. The failure occurred without prior warning indicators. The problem was confirmed by both an independent service center and an authorized Toyota dealer. The Toyota dealer performed a road test and a transmission fluid sample analysis. The dealer documented, verbatim: "vehicle will rev up to 4k before shifting and will only shift if you let off the gas... took a transmission fluid sample and found fluid was burnt with clutch pack material suspended in fluid. Transmission will need to be replaced." Quoted repair: approximately $10,747. The failure mechanism — burnt fluid with suspended clutch pack material from heat-driven internal wear — matches the defect alleged in three active federal class-action lawsuits naming this transmission family (filed in U.S. District Courts in Texas, California, and New Jersey, late 2025 through early 2026). It also matches multiple Toyota Technical Service Bulletins (T-SB-0330-17, T-SB-0010-18, T-SB-0152-19) and the defect Toyota has acknowledged on the 2017-2018 Sienna and Highlander under Customer Support Program ZJC by extending warranty to 10 years/unlimited miles on the same transmission family. The failed transmission is no longer in my possession; the vehicle has been sold. Diagnostic documentation is available upon request.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Toyota Camry. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 160,000. The vehicle was a private sale. The contact stated that during a routine oil change, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The contact was made aware that the mileage was 235,000. Additionally, a Carfax report listed the mileage at 257,000.

I wanted to share my recent experience with Toyota regarding my brand-new Camry. The front bumper on my new vehicle is coming loose. After speaking with my dealership and Toyota corporate, I was informed that this is a known issue affecting some Camrys. I was also told similar concerns have been seen on other Toyota 4Runners (this came from a Toyota service advisor, "The 4Runners are even worse!"). What surprised me most was Toyota's position. Although the issue is known, Toyota currently has no authorized repair available for dealerships to perform under warranty. The recommendation was essentially to wait until Toyota develops an official remedy or issues a recall and they were closing my case for now; this is when the Toyota representative was getting defensive. As a customer, that's difficult to accept. I purchased a new vehicle expecting defects like a loose bumper to be corrected under warranty, not postponed indefinitely. I'm sharing this experience because other owners may be experiencing the same issue.

Transmission has been having intermitten issues with slow or sluggish acceleration. The RPM dial would oscoliate before it would shift or you would it feel the car jerk while driving like its attempting to shift. Ive had this vehicle in and out of multiple toyota dealerships and they always said they could not find any issues with it this was starting back when the car had like 30k miles on it maybe 2 years of ownership now that its out of warranty they find issues with it now and tried to give me a repair for a complete new transmission for 6,000 They did a software update however did not fix the issue now the transmission is noisy and making a loud whinning noise

We experienced rough shifting, engine revving and now it won't shift out of first gear. The car is not driveable. We've taken it to Town & Country Toyota in Charlotte, NC where they said it could not be repaired and it needed replacing for $12,000. The car has 121,000 miles and is not under warranty. Also took it to an independent transmission shop and they said to replace the transmission as well. We think Toyota should issue a recall or some kind of compensation for this major expense. I have lots of stories similar to this by owners with 2018-2022 Toyota Camrys. Thank you.

The METAL trunk torsion bar broke with no warning or symptoms while I was sitting in my vehicle with the trunk closed. While it sounds minimal, it caused such a deafening sound I initially thought there had been an explosion in the rear of my vehicle. This occurred a few minutes after I removed an item from the trunk and closed the trunk. I was sitting in the driver's seat with the car running about to back up when the explosive sound occurred. If the trunk had still been open, the risk of significant injury and death would have been quite high given the explosive sound made when it broke and slammed the interior of the trunk. If it had hit my head, chest or an artery with that level of force, it likely would have caused death in my opinion. There were ZERO warnings. My trunk worked fine, no symptoms of any kind that it was about to fail and that is what makes this so dangerous. This is a part that never should have failed. It should last the lifetime of the car. The largest part of the broken torsion bar IS available for inspection. The smaller piece that broke off and became a potentially lethal projectile must be somewhere behind the paneling, but I have not been able to find it. I can make my car available if an inspector would like to search for the missing piece. I have received a quote from the dealer for replacement, so it has been inspected. Components that failed in the trunk: 64531-06500 Hinge Torsion Bar Right Hand 64127-06110 Torsion Bar Bracket/Hardware Kit. Rear Spoiler/Hardware Kit Note- There is also a 64532-06500 Hinge Torsion Bar Left Hand that could possibly fail in the same way.

I am reporting an issue with the driver seat in my 2026 Toyota Camry SE model. The seat exhibits abnormal movement, shifting, instability, and popping sensations in the seatback (lumper support) area during normal driving conditions, specifically while accelerating or coming to a stop. It is also more noticeable during warming climates than cooler climates. The issue feels like looseness or movement of internal seat components and creates a distraction and potential safety concern while operating the vehicle. It has become very uncomfortable to sit and drive the vehicle. It feels like if someone is kicking the seat from behind. I brought the vehicle to three different Toyota dealership for inspection. The dealership acknowledged the issue and opened a TAS (Technical Assistance System) case with Toyota Motor Corporation. An attempted repair and inspection were performed; however, the issue still persists. After researching online owner forums and discussions, I found multiple reports from other Toyota Camry owners describing similar driver seat problems, suggesting this may not be an isolated incident. The ongoing seat movement negatively affects driver confidence and comfort and may create a safety risk by distracting the driver or altering seating position while driving.

- #11743093June 9, 2026TIRES:SIDEWALL, TIRES, TIRES:TREAD/BELT
Year: 2026 Make: Toyota Model: Camry LE Hybrid VIN: [XXX] Mileage at Time of Discovery: Approximately 750 miles Date Purchased: Approximately 20 days before discovery (22nd May 2026) Tire Brand/Model: Goodyear Assurance RangeMax Tire DOT Number: 1M63P LF1R 1626 I purchased this Toyota Camry new approximately 20 days ago. The vehicle currently has approximately 750 miles on it. During car washing, I discovered visible bulges on all four tires. The tires are Goodyear Assurance RangeMax with DOT number 1M63P LF1R 1626. The bulges appear on each tire sidewall and raise concerns about a possible manufacturing defect or structural failure within the tires. The vehicle has not been involved in any accident, impact, pothole strike, or other event that would reasonably explain identical bulging on all four tires. I visited dealership and they confirmed it's manufacturing defects. Also, Goodyear service centre also confirmed it's manufacturing defects. Because tire sidewall bulges can indicate internal tire damage and increase the risk of tire failure, blowout, loss of vehicle control, crash, injury, or death, I believe this condition presents a significant safety concern. The fact that all four original-equipment tires exhibit similar bulging at very low mileage suggests the possibility of a defect affecting the tires or their manufacture. I am submitting this complaint so that NHTSA can investigate whether other consumers may be experiencing similar issues with Goodyear Assurance RangeMax tires installed on new Toyota Camry vehicles. Safety Concern: Potential tire sidewall defect resulting in bulging on all four tires at approximately 750 miles, creating a risk of tire failure, blowout, and loss of vehicle control. I am writing to formally document a serious safety incident involving my 2019 Toyota Camry XSE (VIN: [XXX]) and to express my deep dissatisfaction with the reliability of this vehicle and my experience obtaining support and repairs. On XXX while driving northbound on [XXX] to attend a wedding approximately 90 minutes from my home, my vehicle experienced a sudden and dangerous malfunction while traveling at approximately 70 mph. While operating at highway speed, I pressed the accelerator pedal in an attempt to maintain and increase speed with traffic flow. Although the engine RPMs increased, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The engine appeared to respond to throttle input, but power was not being transferred to the wheels. This unexpected loss of propulsion occurred without warning. The failure created an immediate safety hazard. As my vehicle rapidly lost the ability to keep pace with surrounding traffic, I narrowly avoided being struck by a freight truck traveling behind me. I was forced to coast the vehicle to the shoulder of the interstate while surrounded by highway traffic. This was a frightening experience that placed my safety and the safety of others at risk. After the incident, the vehicle was inspected by a Toyota dealership in Kennesaw, Georgia. I was quickly advised that the transmission was the source of the problem. While I understand that a formal diagnosis may be required to determine the exact cause of the failure, I was surprised to learn that the transmission was believed to have failed. This vehicle has had only one owner and has never exhibited any warning signs, symptoms, or performance issues that would have led me to believe there was a transmission problem. The transmission had not been slipping, hesitating, making unusual noises, or displaying any other indications of impending failure. Given these facts, I find it difficult to understand how a transmission in a Toyota vehicle could suddenly fail.
