POWER TRAIN
In December 2023 I noticed a bad discoloration of the coolant in my 2007 Nissan Frontier. I took the truck to the local Nissan dealership and had them flush the coolant system. There were no warning lamps or messages. There were no other symptoms or problems prior to that. Receipt available for this service. Then in May 2023 the transmission began shifting extremely hard. Upon checking the coolant it was the consistency of strawberry milkshake. The truck was taken to a local transmission shop and they rebuilt the transmission assembly along with replacing the radiator and flushing the system. This work was completed June 3, 2024. Receipt is available for this service. With continuing to see the coolant have a consistency of strawberry milkshake, I reached out to the local Nissan dealership for them to tell me there had been a recall for this. Upon doing further research, I have learned there actually wasn't a recall but an extended warranty offered that Nissan did not willingly let owners know about. $4,500.00 later I still have the same problem I started with and am fearful this truck will fail as I'm driving on the highway and am concerned about my safety. Nissan knew when they flushed the coolant in December 2023 of this problem and said nothing. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

STEERING
Theres a metallic click like something loose in the power steering and rack & Pinion. Im not the only one with this issue and nissan is not doing anything. Theres Reddit threads and facebook groups about. Some people have gotten their entire Steering Rack replace and others like myself, not. Head gasket blew and it warped the heads at 98,000 miles Replace motor with a 51,000 mile motor and less than 2 months later, motor is knocking inside with broken peices of the motor. I have to replace it again.

Some mechanism in the door is bad. I get locked out of the vehicle when the truck is unlocked. On multiple occasions this door and truck will try to lock itself with the keys still inside (the warning alarm will go off). To get back into the truck I have to lock the door and unlock it even though the door was unlocked to begin with. If the situation were to arise where this door is stuck closed with the keys inside the vehicle, it can cause many issues for the owner/operator (This happened to me once, but the other side was not jammed fortunately). I have brought this vehicle back to the dealership many times and they have not fixed the problem.

WHEELS
The issues iw with the lug nuts expanding locking on the tire so it cannot be takeoff for rotation or replacement or if you have a flat tire tout on the spare. Went to BJ's tire in Pasadena, MD (1-410-647-6600) to have a rotation and they said they could not do it the lug nuts expanded to larger size and it could cross thread if they got them off and tried tout them back on. AS WELL THEY MIGHT NOT BE SECURED TIGHT ENOUGH THAT THEY WOULD NOT FALLOFF WHILE DRIVING. A SAFTY ISSUES WITH BJ'S. BOTH MECHANICS VERIFIED IT AND THE TWO MANAGERS OF THE STORE AS WE.. I did not believe them so I took it to Sheehy Nissan in glen Burnie where the two top managers verified that the lug nut expanded so large they had to be replaces OR IT WOULD BE A SAFTY ISSUE with me driving with he old one on as they cannot be safely tightened down and may come off during driving. So I need all 24 lug nuts replaced. I think he said they expanded from 21 mm (or cm) to 22.5 mm (or cm).the manager has been doing this for over 30 years and his assistant said the same who has been doing it for over 25 years. Mr Brian Jordan at 1-410-760-3500 ext #81052) So I need all 24 replaced as the rest could expand. The real cost is over $800 but willing to do it for like $550 plus tire rotation. As both BJ's managers and tire people and Nissan managers are saying thesis a serious safety issue I believe them. They say unless proper tools used other issues can occur. And ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE BY THE OWNER OF THE VECHILE. Especially if the person icon the road replacing the tier with the spare. They showed me on the internet the issues with ford and other manufactures from before 2000 having this issue. As I am [XXX] it would be really hard to deal with if an emergency came up o the road. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The cruise control on the vehicle is dangerous. When driving through rolling hills the vehicle does not keep a consistent speed. When it loses speed it puts the vehicle in overdrive accelerates to 4500 RPM to speed the vehicle up to the cruise setting. The danger is while on back roads while cresting a hill or rounding a curve the vehicle feels totally out of control. The problem is not limited to back roads, it also occurs while driving the interstate highway. The only way to stop the vehicle during this process is to cancel the cruise control. The acceleration is so violent that it pushing you back in your seat and your head is pushed into the headrest. Ive been on Frontier forums and many people have experienced the same condition. Seems to lie in the newer 9 speed transmission trucks. Seems Nissan does not acknowledge the problem. Needs a Firmware update.

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the steering was difficult to turn. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and stopped the vehicle. The contact shifted into park(P); however, several attempts were needed to restart the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the cam shaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred and had the cam shaft sensor replaced again. Additionally, the contact stated that the ignition key was no longer working and turning the ignition switch. The contact then drove the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the cam shaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle failure had reoccurred, and the vehicle was not taken back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 179,000.

I am the original owner of the vehicle which has just 66,000 original miles. I have smelled fuel and had a service engine soon light on for years. I have taken the vehicle into various shops and dealerships who failed to find a fuel tank leak that now turns out to have been from corrosion of the tank flange as early as 5 years after manufacturing. A check of various online owners forums suggests this is a known defect on Nissan Frontier and XTerra trucks. Once gas began physically leaking out of my tank, I contacted the dealer who said my VIN was not part of any fuel tank recall and I would have to pay for any repairs myself. This is a dangerous and irresponsible situation for Nissan Frontier and XTerra drivers which Nissan needs to fix. Other examples of rusted fuel tank flanges. On January 25, 2024 my son was driving this truck and hit a dog on the highway. His driver side airbag deployed, the driver side seatbelt would not retract, and there was some minor body damage. The engine of the vehicle is fine and completely operational. Since then, we have been waiting for repairs to be made. Per USAA, repairs will be approx $5000 or less. The vehicle is worth over $12,000 so they decided to repair it. The problem is that part number 98820-ZP78A (air bag control module) is no longer being manufactured by Nissan. All other parts, including the *actual* air bag can still be purchased from Nissan, but they are not making the sensor we need to fix this vehicle. We are not the only ones who cannot obtain this part.
