This is a nine speed transmission which basically shifts up each gear every 5 to 6 MPH until you hit 9th gear about 52 MPH. The transmission will not shift to next gear fast enough causing the vehicle to be very slow. The transmission has to go through 5 gears to get to 30 MPH. Each gear shifts at 1650 to over 2000 RPM before it will shift to next gear. If the air conditioning is running the least amount of RPM's is over 2000 or higher to shift up to next gear. At 2000 RPM's the engine has very little torque needed from the transmission due to the 3.692 axle ratio and sounds like the engine is revving higher than it should be. If you don't relax on the gas pedal it will stay in that gear and just rev the RPM's in the gear it is in, until you let off the gas pedal for it to shift up. If you need high acceleration at low speeds it just won't shift up to next gear. I have almost been rear ended many times trying to get onto an expressway or accelerating from a red light to get up to posted speed limit. If you have 5 gears to get to 30 MPH then they have to shift at low RPM's (1250 to 1500 RPM"s) and as fast as possible to get the speed of the vehicle up quickly. The transmission has engine braking and will decelerate through each gear. If you are slowing the truck with foot off the brake and then accelerate the driveshaft and rear end will clunk so you have to be gentle with the pedal to prevent loud clunking noises. It will clunk back into first gear at times when braking to stop the vehicle. It is unsafe to drive when getting up to posted speed is crucial.

- #11752850July 25, 2026TIRES:TREAD/BELT
I went into the Nissan dealer with my Nissan Pro4x with 900 miles on with a lowspeed "thunking" sound coming from the rear end. On the highway the truck vibrates really bad at about 60-65 mph. The dealer (NUCAR Nissan of Allentown, Pa (484)223-0564, service writer Simone) inspected the vehicle and "road force balanced" the rear tires. Both rear tires were found to be bad.....900 miles on the vehicle! The dealer (Simone) claims they do not warranty tires, "Call Hankook", they told me. I called Hankook they provided me a reference number #[XXX] and told me they only deal with the dealer service department. I went back to NUCAR Nissan of Allentown, Pa. They (Simone) again told me they can't help me with warranty tires?!! This is an unsafe condition. I have not been driving the vehicle, except for short trips around town, because I'm afraid this condition will result in a tire failure just like the Firestone tire failures of the late 90's early 2000's. I have a copy of the dealers service report if you need it. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The power door lock system intermittently malfunctions. During the initial failure, the passenger rear door lock seized in the unlocked position and could not be manually operated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Nissan dealership, where all three passenger door lock actuators were replaced. Following the repair, the seized lock condition was resolved; however, the underlying malfunction continues. The passenger front and passenger rear doors will unlock electronically but will not lock using the key fob, interior lock switch, or intelligent key functions. The driver rear side door does not respond to electronic lock or unlock commands. The only way to secure or access the affected doors is by manually operating each individual door lock. The malfunction affects three of the four doors simultaneously and occurs intermittently without warning. No warning lights or messages are displayed when the failure occurs. This defect creates a safety concern because the vehicle cannot be secured as designed, and passengers may not be able to quickly access or enter through an affected door without manual intervention. In an emergency, delays caused by manually locking or unlocking doors could impede access to passengers or evacuation from the vehicle. The issue has been reproduced multiple times and confirmed by an authorized Nissan dealership. Although the passenger door lock actuators were replaced, the malfunction persists, indicating the repair did not correct the underlying defect. The vehicle remains available for inspection.

- #11746916June 27, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving the Automatic Braking System (ABS), Traction Control, forward collision, rear collision and system fault triangle alerts displayed resulting in systems being disabled. Pulled code, C1116, while waiting for dealer service availability. Dealer confirmed the issue is known, and Nissan issued a technical bulletin, NTB22-084, on Sept 29 2022 for issue impacting the ABS Control Module. According to Nissan this module issue impacts the ABS, TCS, collision detection, and cruise control systems.

While underway at speeds under 20 mph. Vehicle hesitates and lurches creating a danger when taking off from a stop light. Vehicle may delay acceleration from a stop, which can feel unsafe in traffic and in merging situations. This activity is uncontrollable as the driver has no control and could lead to an accident or injury to pedestrians or other wise. Another problem is rough shifting, hard downshifts and a jerking. There is both an audible clunk and felt responce or "shift shock". Potential safety risk of hesitation or unexpected gear changes may compromise vehicle control. I have reported and visited the Bradenton Nissan dealership. (2 times) to no avail.

Aftermarket vehicle equipment (Rough Country Hard Tri-Fold Flip Up Bed Cover, SKU: 49520551A) suffered a catastrophic structural hardware failure while traveling at highway speeds (approx. 70 MPH) on the interstate. Both the primary latching clamps and the factory-installed secondary safety retention straps failed simultaneously under standard operating conditions. The entire cover detached from the vehicle and launched into the roadway, creating an immediate, severe collision hazard for trailing motorists. Physical inspection of the truck bed afterwards revealed the mounting rails remained securely attached to the truck, but the integrated screw-handle anchoring hardware on the cover itself had completely failed and sheared off.

Bought my 2023 Nissan Frontier PRO 4X last year and immediately noticed a clicking sound coming from the steering wheel. This noise only occurs while driving and making slight adjustments to the wheel. The noise ranges in loudness and intensity and at times can be felt while holding the steering wheel. Reported issue at 2 separate dealerships so far with no resolution offered. Concerned that the constant clicking/rubbing in the steering column may lead to a catastrophic failure while driving.

- #11742873June 9, 2026INTERIOR LIGHTING
While driving North on I79 in dayligh I attempted to engage adaptive cruse control. The indicator lights on the dashboard were too dim to be visible and I was unable to tell if cruise control was on or determine what the speed setting was. After successfully engaging the control using buttons on the steering wheel the truck began accellerating strongly. I was unable to tell what the speed setting was but it must have been in excess of 80 mph as I had to turn the control off at that point. I returned truck to dealer and was told that lack of brightness for this indicator (and several others, such as turn signal indicators) was a design issue and could not be repaired by the dealer. I have tried every remidy I could find, even had the dealer's sales person take pictures of the dash while driving to verify the issue.

On the evening of April 22, 2026, my 2024 Nissan frontier with approximately 7600 miles on it had an electrical fire in the front driver side fog lamp housing. My vehicle has a manufacturer warranty of 36,000 miles or 36 months. I received a denial letter for honoring the warranty by Nissan consumer affairs on May 18, 2026. I believe this is a known issue dating back to at least 2022 to current models. There are individuals posting their experiences on social media. Nissan has not provided a written report for the inspection by their investigative inspection team. I don’t understand their refusal to honor my warranty.

We are having trouble with the passenger door being inoperative. It will not unlock with the fob or manually, trapping the occupant in the passengers seat. Using AI we determined this is not an isolated problem. A person of my age cannot get out of the car which could present a very serious problem for the occupant.

- #11741179May 31, 2026VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD
I have a 2024 Nissan Frontier PRO 4X. Front windshield leaks on the passenger side. Took it to the dealer roughly 7 times. After the purchase I notice water coming down the windshield. Took it to the dealer supposedly they thought it got fixed. After got home and the next time it rained and leaked again. Now 2 years later still having water trouble after being at the dealer several times still not fixed. Cleaning my truck inside notice my floor is soaking wet. Water running down A pillar running down to the floorboard. While some of the electrical devices are right where the water is lying. I feel this is a big safety concern with all the electrical connections. Also now my flooring carpet has mold on it and breathing this is unhealthy and unsafe. I just want it fixed!!

Vehicle door locks causing driver and passengers to exit the vehicle. Have already had front passenger door and driver side back passenger door fixed. Now driver door will lock and once driver inside, is unable to exit vehicle. In the event of emergency, anyone in vehicle could parish because they would not be able to exit the vehicle.

- #11733802April 25, 2026POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE
My 2024 Nissan Frontier has experienced repeated intermittent shut off and no-start failures. The problem began in late 2024 and continued through January 2025, throughout 2025, 2026, and is still occurring. The truck has randomly shut off while driving and has failed to restart at different times. This creates a serious safety risk in traffic and on the freeway because loss of power can cause an accident or leave me stranded in unsafe areas. I brought the vehicle to Nissan dealership service in January 2025 for diagnosis, but they stated no issue was found. The same problem continued afterward. Auto parts stores also checked battery/charging systems and did not identify the cause. Most recently, the vehicle would not start at CarMax and required roadside assistance / jump start / towing. The issue is intermittent and difficult to predict, which makes it more dangerous. I am requesting investigation of this recurring defect.

- #11732266April 19, 2026SEATS
The 2023 Nissan Frontier was purchased new and is under manufacturer's warranty. Beginning in the summer of 2025, the driver's seatback has unexpectedly moved rearward, including more than one instance where it fell completely back toward the rear seat. Each time, the vehicle has been turned off, the seat is unoccupied, and no one was in contact with the seat controls. The seat does not feel lose when manually pushed and appears normal between incidents. The issue is intermittent and cannot be easily reproduced on demand. This is a serious safety issue. If the seatback recliner mechanism fails while driving, it could suddenly alter the driver's position, reduce control of the vehicle and increase the risk of injury in a crash. I have reported the issue multiple times to an authorized Nissan dealership. The vehicle has been inspected and kept overnight, but the issue was not reproduced and no repair was made. I also contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs who attributed the issue to the seat adjustment switch being accidentally activated. This explanation does not match the conditions under which the problem occurs (vehicle off, seat unoccupied). I am requesting this issue be investigated as a potential defect in the seatback recliner mechanism or power seat system. This condition appears to involve un-commanded seat movement and possible failure of the seatback locking mechanism. I have photos but am waiting for the internet to forward them from my phone to my computer to upload.
