I have a 2023 Hyundai Palisade Issue: At low speeds under 20 MPH, on bumpy, rough surfaces, more noticeable when turning (left or right) and going on an incline (up or down), there is low level noise from the backend undercarriage of the Palisade such as clunking or thumping noise. The failure is persistent and gotten progressively worse. The failure was duplicated at the dealer. This is a known issue from Hyundai. See Technical Service Bulletin 26-SS-001H created on May 2026 Hyundai has formally acknowledged this rear-shock noise problem. Technical Service Bulletin 26-SS-001H, Warranty Extension Z12. Problem: Certain Palisades may have a clunking or thumping noise from the rear while driving over rough roads, caused by worn self-leveling rear shock absorbers. In the Technical Service Bulletin 26-SS-001H it says Please note that for the first repair, replacement of both rear shock absorbers will be covered by this warranty extension. For subsequent repairs, one or both rear shock absorbers will be covered depending upon the impacted side(s). I reviewed the Hyundai TSB 26-SS-001H closely. I think I have a solid basis for a firm escalation email, especially because Hyundai's own bulletin specifically contemplates "subsequent repairs" for the same rear shock problem. This raises a serious question for me as an owner: What is Hyundai's permanent corrective action for this problem? Replacing the same suspension components repeatedly after the condition returns is not an acceptable long-term solution. I should not have to repeatedly return a relatively new vehicle to the dealership for the same suspension problem, particularly after the prescribed repair has already been performed and the condition returned approximately one month later. I will write a professional but firm email to the Dealer (who has been very nice and Hyundai. If they cannot fix it, I will need to review my state's lemon law requirements.

Whatever you do, do not purchase a Hyundai vehicle. Their engines are defective. On XXX, I brought my car in for service at Castle Hyundai, [XXX]. I informed the service representative that I was having issues with my car stopping and automatically applying the braking system intermittently. They looked at the car and said they saw nothing was wrong. They charged me $940.30 for diagnostics and replacing a couple of belts and oil filter housing leak. I started having the same issue in XXX and I brought my car in again. This time they told me that my car was burning oil internally and that I would have to have a Combustion Chamber Cleaning. I was informed by the Service Manager that this was a common problem with my vehicles model year and that if was a requirement to for the Warranty people to initiate changing the engine. I paid $1,094.26 for this service. I was told to bring the car back after driving the car an additional 1,000 miles. I was also told by that service manager that his dealership changes about 200 engines a month due to this issue. I took the car back to the dealership after driving the 1,000 miles. I sent them photos of the 3 oil changes I could find documentation for, and I had one done at this dealership. I was informed by the dealership that the warranty company and Hyundai when asked, refused my claim. I called the warranty company myself and they would not uphold my claim. I then contacted the Regional Case Manager, and they tried to tell me something different. They told me my car was over warranty and that the engine was only covered up to 60,000 miles. I have the Warranty in my hand, and it says lifetime warranty. This is not fair. I am [XXX] old and I bought the car with 31,000 miles on the car. I have consistent and periodic oil changes but could not remember all the places. This is the first Hyundai I have purchased and I am asking that my claim be upheld and executed s INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My 2020 Hyundai Palisade (3.8L V6) has a persistent engine defect causing sudden stalling and severe oil consumption. Since mid-2019 the engine has stalled without warning when coming to a stop, idled roughly, and made loud puttering noises under light acceleration — a loss-of-power hazard in traffic. In 2026 the dealer began formal oil consumption testing. Although 1,000-mile checks were marked 'passed,' the engine was found completely dry (dipstick showed no oil) at 2,000 miles — 3.5 quarts low on a 6.1-quart system. On 09/02/2026 the vehicle FAILED an official oil consumption test at Hyundai of Kirkland and was held for service. The dealer performed a carbon-cleaning procedure, but the underlying oil consumption is unresolved and a re-test is now underway. Running an engine at less than half its oil capacity risks sudden seizure or stall at speed. I am concerned this is a systemic defect affecting other 2020 Palisades and request NHTSA investigate.

I have been dealing with the oil consumption issues for this vehicle for about 2 years now. There are documented complaints and a class action lawsuit in California about this issue. Bottom line, the engine burns too much oil to be safely driven between oil changes without the owner checking and adding oil. My particular vehicle is burning just under 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles. Hyundai’s owner manual suggests changing the oil every 7,500 miles, but the oil capacity is under 6 quarts. At the current rate, I would run out of oil before the suggested oil change interval. This is a severe safety issue as engines require oil to run correctly, not overheat, and lubricate all the moving parts. The previous generation Hyundai models also had similar oil consumption issues. Those vehicles had a NHTSA campaign which resulted in Hyundai being responsible to fix the engines. I believe a recall is proper given the safety concerns noted above. At a minimum, Hyundai should stand by their work and fix the issues as they arise.

Defect & Safety Hazard: Severe internal manufacturing defect causing catastrophic engine oil consumption and sudden, un-warned engine stalling. The vehicle completely shuts down at highway speeds, on inclines, and at stops. This sudden loss of motive power deactivates power steering and braking assists, creating an immediate multi-vehicle collision risk. No low-oil or dashboard indicators illuminate prior to stalling, stripping the driver of any ability to take proactive safety measures. Indisputable Failure Data: Between 99,xxx miles (under warranty) and 103,xxx miles, the engine consumed 5.5 quarts of oil over a 3,000-mile interval. This equals an extreme burn rate of 1.83 quarts per 1,000 miles. Hyundai’s maximum corporate failure limit (1.0 qt/1,000 miles). Secondary diagnostics indicate this massive volume of un-combusted oil is actively pushing into the exhaust system, creating restrictive backpressure that induces stalling. Timeline & Dealer Obstruction:Rusty Wallace Hyundai: Inspected vehicle under 100,000 miles and initiated the first 1,000-mile consumption test, but subsequently refused documentation and further warranty services. A corporate national claim and customer service complaint were filed against them.Grayson Hyundai: Completed a second 1,000-mile test documenting a definitive failure. They confirmed this is a common, known systemic issue and recommended full engine replacement.Federal Violations: Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, because the defect was reported to a dealer before warranty expiration, Hyundai is legally required to cover the defect. Forcing a vehicle that burns 5.5 quarts of oil onto public roads also violates strict EPA Clean Air Act emissions compliance standards. Hyundai's current demand for out-of-pocket payment must be rescinded for full corporate coverage.

INCIDENT: Pressed brakes but car accelerated. STORY: I reversed out of a parking spot, turning so I could go to the right in parking lot. Put the car in drive and proceeded driving veering right in the parking lot. I pressed brake within 5 seconds of that but the accelerated instead, so I released the brake, looked down to double check I wasn't losing my mind and confirmed, I was pushing the break when it accelerated, pressed it again but much lighter this time and it did accelerated again as I veered to the right where there were no cars parked. I parked, turned off the car and then restarted it. I was not able to recreate the incident but also, no idea why it happened and scary to think what would have happened if I was on the highway or busy road. There were no lights/alerts that showed up when it happened. I plant to take it to dealership to check. And I have read other reports of owners having the same issue with this car.

My "Vehicle Health" reports all systems good on the BlueLink App-- however, when I open "diagnostics history", it shows 8 repeated reports under DTC: C183987 (SAFETY - Anti-lock Braking System). There is also a reports for a DTC C186B87 (ELECTRICAL- Lane Departure Warning System), and a C188087 (null). So there are 10 total reports of this in my history between 11/7/2025 to 9/18/2026. The reports for the anti-lock breaks were reviewed by the dealership and advised by Hyundais tech line that they were just glitches in computer system. However, they have continued. And on top of that, I just filed a separate report about my car accelerating when I pressed the brake (thankfully it happened in a parking lot)-- no idea if its related but its all fishy. Thus I will be going back for another review by dealership "service" team. Initially the first few reports did have an ABS light that showed up on my screen which is what prompted me to look into the app for issue only to see it said everything was fine, until I looked deeper at the historical reports. But lately there has been no ABS light showing up on my dash but the reports are still coming in.

- #11765683September 20, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I was driving to work, at a rate of 75 mph (permitted speed limit). As I approached an intersection, I tapped the brakes to turn off the cruise control. It did not turn off. I then pressed the brake pedal and it went further down than normal. The vehicle did not appear to even try and slow down or brake. I tried again, standing on the brakes with both feet. At this point, I knew I would not be stopping, as the pedal continued to feel strange, and not catching for lack of better terms. I did my best to steer around two sign poles directly in my path. Unfortunately due to not being able to control speed, I did hit one. I then continued on for approximately and 1/8 of a mile before my car finally came to a stop in the middle of a dirt field. I do not know if this was a software or mechanical issue with the brakes. I only know they did not work when needed, under normal circumstances.

I am reporting severe and recurring oil consumption in my 2020 Hyundai Palisade that could cause engine damage, engine seizure, stalling, or a sudden loss of power while driving. On April 14, 2026, at approximately 89,950 miles, an authorized Hyundai dealership documented that the engine had consumed approximately 1.3 quarts of oil in only 1,275 miles, equivalent to approximately one quart every 982 miles. The vehicle failed Hyundai’s initial oil-consumption test. Hyundai then authorized a combustion-chamber cleaning. On May 12, 2026, at 91,087 miles, the dealership completed the follow-up test and stated that the vehicle passed at that time. On September 14, 2026, at 95,512 miles, I returned to the dealership because the engine again had no measurable oil remaining. Only 4,425 miles had elapsed since the May oil change. The dealership’s repair order states that the vehicle “has no oil again.” I also reported that the vehicle had begun stuttering and rattling when pressing the brake and coming to a stop, creating concern that the engine may already have sustained damage from insufficient lubrication. The dealership initiated another oil-consumption test and instructed me to return after 1,000 miles. However, the earlier combustion-chamber cleaning did not correct the underlying problem. I am concerned that the vehicle may again consume its oil without adequate warning and could stall, seize, or lose power while being driven, placing the occupants and other motorists at risk. Hyundai should investigate the cause of the recurring oil loss and determine whether 2020 Hyundai Palisade vehicles have defective piston rings, cylinders, valve components, PCV systems, or other engine components causing excessive oil consumption. I am requesting that NHTSA document and investigate this potentially dangerous engine defect.

While driving normally with the vehicle already in Drive, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion and displayed a message instructing me to shift to Park or Neutral. I attempted to select both Park and Neutral, but the vehicle would not respond to the shift controls. I ultimately turned the vehicle off and restarted it, after which it operated normally. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Hyundai dealer. No stored fault codes were found, and the dealer has been unable to reproduce the event during road testing and GDS flight recording. The underlying cause remains unidentified. I am concerned that recurrence in moving traffic or while crossing an intersection could create a crash risk.

My 2020 Hyundai Palisade is affected by NHTSA Safety Recall 25V607 / Hyundai Recall 283 involving the first- and second-row seat belt buckle assemblies. The recall was initiated in 2025, and my vehicle remains unrepaired approximately one year later. This defect has actually occurred in my vehicle. Seat belts have released/unlatched while the vehicle was being driven, creating a serious risk that an occupant could become unrestrained while the vehicle is moving or in the event of a collision. The Hyundai dealership documented Recall 283 as outstanding on my vehicle in March 2026. I returned to the dealership in September 2026, and the recall remained unrepaired because the required parts were unavailable. Hyundai Motor America has since confirmed in writing that the required parts are back-ordered. Hyundai states that a set has been assigned to my vehicle, but there is currently no estimated time of arrival. Approximately one year after this safety recall was initiated, my affected vehicle remains unrepaired despite the seat belt defect having actually occurred while driving. I am concerned about safely transporting my family while waiting indefinitely for the required repair.

The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the brakes independently activated. The vehicle failed to drive forward or reverse. The contact stated that after several attempts to release the brakes, the brakes released. The dealer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with ABS module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while the brake pedal was depressed, the brake pedal went to the floorboard and the vehicle stopped. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 8,100.

After slowing to make a right or left turn, pressing on the accelarrator causes no response for ten to fifteen seconds. This proble seems to be in numerous Palisades for 2023 to 2026. Numerous message boards have reports of this issue with the dealer not being able to repair the problem. I myself almost gor into an accident due to this issue.

I originally brought the vehicle to the dealership for an unrelated infotainment system issue. While driving to the dealership, I noticed that the driver’s seat was rocking/moving, particularly while going downhill. I informed the dealership about the movement and asked them to inspect the seat while the vehicle was there. Upon inspection, the dealership determined that the driver’s seat frame had a weld failure. The vehicle had approximately 42,500 miles at the time. There were no warning lights or dashboard messages indicating a problem with the seat before I noticed the movement. This was not simply a cosmetic or comfort issue. The structural failure allowed the driver’s seat to move during normal vehicle operation. I am concerned that a failed weld in the driver’s seat frame could compromise the stability of the seat during normal driving and potentially during hard braking, an evasive maneuver, or a collision. The defect was identified and documented by the dealership. The vehicle has not been involved in an accident or other event that would explain the seat-frame weld failure. I reported the matter to the manufacturer and a case was opened. I am submitting this complaint because a structural weld failure in a driver’s seat at approximately 42,500 miles raises a safety concern and I believe NHTSA should determine whether similar failures are occurring in other vehicles. The vehicle/failed component can be made available for inspection if requested.

While driving down the freeway my first row sunroof exploded. Insurance wouldn’t cover it because it is a manufacturer defect, but Hyundai wouldn’t cover it because it “isn’t a manufacturer defect.” The temperature outside when the sunroof exploded was 74 degrees and it was cloudy. Then less than 2 months later my engine got a rod knock even with oil changes every 5k miles. No warning signs for either and no lights on the dash. It just started when I started it to leave for work one morning.

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving a 2023 Hyundai Palisade with approximately 26,000 miles. While the vehicle is being driven, the ESC warning light illuminates and the vehicle can unexpectedly come to a stop, shift into Park, and shut down. The vehicle must then be restarted before it can be driven again. This condition has occurred while the vehicle is in operation and creates a significant safety concern because the vehicle can unexpectedly stop in the roadway. If this occurs in traffic or at highway speeds, there is a risk of a rear-end collision or other crash. The vehicle has been presented to/communicated about with an authorized Hyundai dealership, ALM Hyundai Florence in Florence, South Carolina, but the issue has not been resolved. I am also reporting the issue directly to Hyundai Motor America. I am requesting that NHTSA document and investigate this condition to determine whether other 2023 Hyundai Palisade vehicles have experienced similar ESC-related shutdown, stopping, or unintended shifting-to-Park events and whether a safety defect may exist.

- #11764836September 16, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Labor Day weekend I was two hours away from home. Before leaving town my automatic collision breaking system decided to go off and start breaking. There was absolutely no one in front of me. The entire weekend about seven or eight times my vehicle put me in extreme danger going at all speeds putting myself in my Assistan danger of dying and flying through the windshield. When I got back to town and made an appointment at North Freeway, Hyundai in Spring they lied and claimed there was front and damage and that the bracket was loose. I have absolutely no front end damage I have included pictures for some reason if they don’t work your system is having issues. Their pictures they took are completely blown out and white and look like it needs an exorcism. I have clear photos of my vehicle there was absolutely no incident or damaged to have any issues with my vehicle . I have been an extreme danger and had to turn it off in order to drive home. I have made several attempts to contact the service manager and he cannot be bothered to contact me it is apparently above him and his Pay grade. I have contacted Hyundai personally and they are working on it on their end but overall it’s up to the dealership
