The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while at a stoplight and attempting to depress the accelerator pedal while making a left turn, the vehicle lost power. The Police showed up on the scene and were able to jumpstart the vehicle and called AAA to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine control module needed to be updated. The engine control module was updated; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the dealer test drove the vehicle and informed the contact that the vehicle was operating as intended. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.

On my previous vehicle same thing had happen and the dealership replace even though I was a secondary owner. This vehicle in question I have been primary care owner. Before someone cuts them self with sharp metal or coating that is off on a door handle where you open the door is concerning.

- #11768393October 1, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
Vehicle purchased new in August 2026. Within 80 miles, it began experiencing a recurring electrical fault causing simultaneous warnings across the steering, braking, and driver-assistance systems (DTCs C28C586, C164286, C181486, C181483, logged via Hyundai's Bluelink diagnostic system). The fault has recurred at least 9 times between 80 and 1,121 miles despite three repair attempts (8/28/26, 9/8/26, 9/14/26), including one escalation to Hyundai's national TechLine (Case #2026091700002) referencing TSB 25-GI-016H. Each repair was declared successful, and the identical fault returned within days each time. During active occurrences, dashboard alerts have included "Check Driver Assistance System," "Check Rear Cross-Traffic Safety System," and simultaneous warnings for lane departure, forward collision, blind spot, and anti-lock braking systems. This represents a loss of reliable communication between safety-critical systems (steering assist, ABS, and driver-assistance) while driving, creating a risk of degraded steering or braking response without warning. Manufacturer has declined to repurchase or replace the vehicle.

- #11768421October 1, 2026ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN
Component Affected: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: HIGH PRESSURE PUMP Description of the Safety Hazard: My 2022 Hyundai Palisade has developed a catastrophic failure of the engine-mounted High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP). The insulating foam cover is completely saturated and leaking raw, liquid gasoline directly on top of the engine block. The fuel system is unable to maintain rail pressure, causing severe pre-detonation engine knock ("pinging") and mechanical stumbling during acceleration. Furthermore, there are visible electrical flashes/short-circuit arcs occurring in the engine bay directly adjacent to the high-pressure liquid fuel leak, presenting an imminent vehicle fire hazard. Active dark fluid puddles contaminated with fuel are dripping past the splash shields onto the ground. Dealer/Manufacturer Actions: Despite clear photographic evidence of a pressurized fuel leak on a powertrain-covered component, multiple authorized Hyundai dealerships (Fred Beans, Harrisburg, and Chambersburg) have refused service or grossly misdiagnosed the life-threatening safety issue as a 'gas cap' or 'water hose.' Hyundai Motor America Corporate Consumer Assistance has failed to intervene or provide emergency towing remediation for this severe fire risk.

The instrument cluster automatically turns on (and stays on) when a car door or the trunk is opened without the car being started. This lead to the battery draining twice while packing and unpacking the car while on a recent camping trip. If I was not with another family that was able to jump my car, my family would have been stranded in the woods. The automatic wake up is considered a feature, but it can put people's safety in serious jeopardy by causing them to be stranded in remote areas. The trim level of this vehicle is marketed as the off-road package, but this feature makes using the vehicle in the manner it is marketed dangerous.

Check hybrid System warning comes on during initial start of the day. First service visit for problem had a bad water pump replaced on 1 of the electric motors at ~400 miles. Dealership said this resolved the problem, but the same problem is now recurring at 780 miles. Don't know how safe it is to drive vehicle.

The seatback in my third row was reclined and failed to return to an upright position when attempted to be folded. Additionally, I observed that the belt buckle was damaged, which resulted in a cut wire within the buckle mechanism. Safety concern: It is strictly prohibited to permit any individual to occupy the third row. The vehicle remains under the custody of the dealership and its service department. Despite having possession of the vehicle for two months, no replacement or acquisition of the required part has been completed. No warnings or messages about the buckle.

Was driving down our road and when we came to turn onto the main road the vehicle would not turn. Backed up to avoid traffic then tried proceeding forward again and would not turn or was only turning very little that it did not make a difference. After a few attempts, powered the vehicle off then back on and all of a sudden could turn the wheel again l.

Dealership is stating that they don’t have a firm date to repair or recall on seatbelt buckles. Original notice was sent in September 2025. The day before we were scheduled to have service in March/April of this year they called and canceled today they put us on the schedule for December but I have not sent anything as to us for sure having those buckles available we were told when they canceled our first appointment that new vehicle vehicles were being prioritized over used vehicles that were already on the road.

Vehicle developed a check engine light and underwent warranty repair, during which all six fuel injectors were replaced (Repair Order #1HWS5031079, dated 7/8/2026, 33,768 miles). Despite this repair, the check engine light returned, and the vehicle subsequently developed an intermittent hard-start and no-start condition — in some instances the engine would not start on the first attempt and required a second attempt. The vehicle was returned to the dealership for a second repair visit (Repair Order #1HCS55031999, dated 7/28/2026, 34,090 miles), during which the dealership considered multiple possible causes, including a sensor issue and fuel-related concerns, before completing the repair. The vehicle was out of service for a cumulative total of approximately 22 days across both repair visits. An intermittent no-start condition raises reliability and safety concerns, particularly in situations requiring predictable vehicle operation.

On XXX, I was loading items in the rear cargo area of an Avis rental vehicle, a 2025 Hyundai Palisade when the power liftgate was fully open above me, without warning and without me commanding it to close, the liftgate unexpectedly came down/fell. It struck me in the head and I lost consciousness, I don’t know how long I was unconscious. When I regained consciousness, I was in the rear cargo area of the vehicle with the liftgate on my back. I sought emergency medical treatment the same day at Chippenham Hospital in [XXX]. My records show evaluation for neck pain and headache. CT imaging of my head/brain and cervical spine , and discharge info for concussion and a pinched nerve in the neck. I subsequently received orthopedic and spine treatment and physical therapy for continuing neck, back, shoulder and knee complaints. My concern is, a fully open powered liftgate should not unexpectedly descend onto a person beneath it. I am asking NHTSA to record and evaluate this incident as a power liftgate safety defect. The vehicle was a rental from Avis on [XXX] and does not list the VIN number on my contract. I am requesting the VIN number and maintenance repair history from Avis to supplement this complaint. - #11767328September 28, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On August 10, 2026, at approximately 12,302 miles, I took the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealer after it stalled multiple times, including once while accelerating. I also reported sluggishness/loss of power. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle subsequently stalled two additional times. In September 2026, while driving at highway speed with cruise control engaged, the vehicle suddenly and aggressively decelerated/braked as though it detected an obstacle ahead, although no vehicle or obstacle was present. A similar event occurred the following day. Unexpected braking, loss of power, or stalling at highway speed creates a serious collision risk. I have also experienced a forward-collision warning when no vehicle was in front of me and intermittent jerking/hesitation. I returned the vehicle to the Hyundai dealer on September 22, 2026, at approximately 14,548 miles. The dealer performed diagnostic scans and approximately 42 miles of road testing. No relevant DTCs were found, the problems could not be reproduced, and no repair was performed. The dealer documented the result as No Trouble Found. There were no consistent warning lamps or messages before the stalling or unexpected deceleration. The cause remains unresolved despite multiple dealer visits.

The sunroof malfunctioned in a way that the manufacturer has already admitted is an issue in TSB 23-BD-003H - without warning, with a mechanism that is rarely used by us. According to many reports, despite this being a known defect, the manufacturer requires payment if the vehicle is out of warranty. A finding on behalf of NHTSA would greatly help owners who have this happen through no fault of their own.

There is pre-mature failure of the rear shocks/struts. Vehicle is a 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited with 70,000 miles on it. Normal wear and tear with no excessive use and never towed anything. Hyundai dealerships are backed up for service appointments. I was finally able to get in for an appointment, and they confirmed pre-mature shocks/struts failure but parts are on back order. The dealership states the vehicle is "safe to drive" but I am concerned. We are a family of [XXX] and are worried about a bad outcome with all the extra bounce in the car on [XXX]. - #11767619September 28, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SEATS
On September 15, 2026, my 2026 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy would not start and could not be driven. AAA responded, tested the 12-volt battery, and advised me that it had a bad battery cell. The vehicle was towed to Larry H. Miller Southwest Hyundai Albuquerque for diagnosis and repair. A service representative later told me that a parasitic electrical drain or malfunctioning component may have depleted the battery, but I have not received a written diagnosis confirming the cause. As of September 28, the vehicle remains at the dealership and has not been repaired or returned to me. I have also experienced two seat-related safety concerns. The driver’s seat moves backward automatically and presses into the second-row captain’s seat area where my child’s rear-facing car seat is installed. This movement pushes the child’s head forward. In addition, the second-row seat controls sometimes do not respond when pressed, or the seat moves in the opposite direction from the one selected. I am concerned about my child’s safety from the seat movement and about being stranded with my three children if the vehicle fails to start again. I am reporting the conditions I observed. Hyundai has not provided me with a diagnosis explaining the no-start failure or the seat behavior.
