Vehicle: 2017 Honda Pilot VIN: [XXX] Mileage at incident: ~137,800 miles Description of the problem: My 2017 Honda Pilot has experienced repeated engine misfire issues involving cylinder 5 following a major engine repair performed by an authorized Honda dealership. On September 22, 2025, Honda of Kenosha, WI performed a camshaft and camshaft thrust cover repair on my vehicle at a cost of approximately $4,080. The dealership documented in the repair order that the camshaft thrust cover was not torqued to specification and that the engine misfired immediately after the repair. On December 5, 2025, approximately 44 days later, the vehicle was returned to the same dealership due to slow cold starts and warning lights. During the initial diagnostic at drop-off, the dealer documented a stored P0305 trouble code indicating a cylinder 5 misfire, which is the same cylinder involved after the prior camshaft/thrust cover repair. The dealership recommended and performed a battery replacement after a load test showed low reserve capacity. After replacement, the technician later confirmed that the battery was not the cause of the cylinder 5 misfire. The diagnostic codes were cleared, and the issue was described as intermittent. During the same visit, the dealer documented a tear in the lower portion of the engine air intake flex tube and evidence of a small rodent nest under the engine cover. However, the dealer also documented that no hoses, wiring, connectors, or sensors showed signs of damage. The dealer stated that the intake tear could cause random lean conditions and misfires, but this does not explain the cylinder-specific P0305 misfire that was present at drop-off. The misfire issue is intermittent and most noticeable on cold start. The condition has caused sluggish engine response and concern about potential stalling or loss of power, which could pose a safety risk during driving, especially in traffic or intersections. My car has always had slight issue getting consistent fuel pressure causing the engine to rev abnormally when giving gas during acceleration. On 11/25, my car failed to start due to the fuel pressure being too low. I brought my car into two mechanics including a Honda certified dealership to inspect an issue with my fuel pump. I was informed that other Honda Pilots of the same year as mine have a recall on their fuel pump, but my VIN was not included. Both mechanics indicated that this is the exact issue that the other Pilots under the recall have and they were not sure why mine was not included. It is pulling the same codes, too, when it went under diagnostic testing as issue with the lower fuel pump.

Transmission locked up and had to be replaced April 8 of 2025. I was blessed it did not lock up while I was driving, but did as soon as I pulled in my driveway. While driving that evening I had some issue with it not downshifting. When stopped in driveway could not restart the car. Had to have a special tow truck take it to the repair shop. I never got a warning light regarding the transmission needing to be checked. I had issues prior to the lock up, engine revving, gearshifting too late. Obvious transmissions issue. As I never got a warning light no code would show to have it repaired. I took it to the honda dealer for repair. After the replacement with another 9 cyclinder transmission the autoshut off is problematics causing me to stall out when stopping at lights and intersections. I had a previous experience with the 1999 honda odyessy and had 3 transmissions replaced. I am concerned about my safety as I could only replace it with another Honda 9 cylinder transmission.

All of the lights on the dash came on and the power steering stopped working while driving on the highway. I was in the number one lane and had to merge across four lanes to pull over with no power steering. I shut the car off and waited a few minutes. The lights were still on the dash but the power steering was working. This is the second time this has happened in the last two weeks.

We had road issues recently and the care stalled on Thanksgiving. We ended up having it towed to 2 mechanics, the final mechanic determined that this issue is a recall for other Hondas. Ours is not listed. I called the recall hotline and they will not fix the car under the recall because they did not add our VIN number to the recall. They informed us we could pay for the repair and keep our receipt for reimbursement if/when the VIN number is added. I was not happy with this outcome as if it's a problem with other vehicles why are we not being added. The recall is "a manufacturing defect in the connecting rod bearing that could cause the engine to seize and fail, leading to stalling while driving."

Fuel Injector issue - diagnosed at Mike's Automotive, a NAPA AutoCare Center by ASE certified technician. Codes were P0430 and P219B which indicates fuel injector issue. The Emmissions System Problem check engine light goes on and off at random times, reduced fuel economy by almost 5 mpg, hard shifting, stalling. All symptoms are in line with the recall for 2019 Honda Pilots however my VIN is not included in the recall, but I believe it should be. Honda wants me to bring my vehicle to a Honda Dealership to get diagnosed, diagnostic is my cost, though I've already paid for a diagnostic at a different repair shop.

Vehicle: 2025 Honda Pilot VIN: 5FNYG1H44SB075283 Mileage: ~6,328 miles Summary of Safety Defect: Serious acceleration failure combined with existing safety recalls (brake pedal pivot pin defect and improperly routed third-row seat belt). Vehicle hesitates, fails to accelerate when needed, and creates dangerous crossing and merging conditions. Detailed Description: I own a 2025 Honda Pilot that is currently subject to multiple safety recalls, including the brake pedal pivot pin recall and the third-row seat belt routing defect. In addition to these known defects, the vehicle has a severe and unpredictable acceleration failure that creates a significant safety hazard. On December 10, 2025, I attempted to turn left onto a main road from a complete stop. When I pressed the accelerator, the vehicle failed to accelerate quickly enough to clear oncoming traffic. The throttle response was delayed, sluggish, and unresponsive for several seconds. An oncoming driver had to brake hard to avoid hitting my vehicle. This was a near-collision and placed me and others in immediate danger. This hesitation and lack of power has occurred multiple times when: Turning left across traffic Merging onto highways Changing lanes at speed Attempting to accelerate from a stop The vehicle does not respond appropriately or consistently when pressing the accelerator. This is especially dangerous in situations requiring timely throttle response to avoid collisions. Combined with the existing factory safety recalls, this creates a serious and ongoing safety risk. A new vehicle should not fail to accelerate when entering or crossing traffic. I have already notified Honda in writing. I am requesting NHTSA to investigate this issue, as I believe this is a defect affecting the safe operation of the vehicle, particularly in situations requiring quick acceleration. This defect is significant enough that I no longer feel safe driving the vehicle.

Engine seized up and died. Towed to shop and needs to be replaced. There has been a recall on this model year due to an issue with rods in the engine, but I am being told my particular car does not qualify. Researching showed me that if any kind of claim was denied, to file a complaint with NHTSA.gov.

My check engine light come on and started flashing on 11/24/25 and came along with a knocking sound. Got it to the shop, and they confirmed that the vehicle has a rod bearing knocking in the engine. I see that this has been a frequent known issue with this specific car and believe my car should be apart of this recall

When driving and wanting to accelerate at 65mph car just because limp, won’t go when accelerating for a few seconds, speed drops, then you press back on the accelerator and after a few times the car goes back to normal. So, you loose control of the accelerator for a few seconds and you cant go faster, it just freezes and speed drops. This has been happen g for awhile. I even called Honda Corporate to advise them. It’s been happening for over 2 years. It comes and goes. We are starting to hear a clunk noise now.

My cruise control stopped working and all my lane assist stopped working. My front camera stopped working. I went to the Honda dealership, and it was going to be over $2000 to replace. The car is only 6 years old, it has had no accidents or problems. I’m incredibly upset that this already is a problem, and because i didn’t buy an extended warranty it’s on me to fix.
