Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The second row outboard seats have a lever to fold the seatback and slide the seat forward to access the third row seats. Due to a manufacturing error, if the walk-in release lever is used to fold a fully reclined left outboard seatback forward, the seatback may stay in the unlocked position (free-folding) or unexpectedly unlock without engaging the walk-in or recliner lever.
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2011-2017 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The second row outboard seats can slide sideways to one of two positions. If a seat is placed between either of the two positions when attaching the seat to the vehicle floor, the seat will not latch properly to the seat striker, allowing the seat to tip forward unexpectedly during braking.

The driver’s-side power sliding door cable failed suddenly while the vehicle was parked on a hill. The failure caused the sliding door to close on me with significant force and caused the vehicle to continuously alarm. The vehicle was taken to a local Honda dealership, where the issue was diagnosed and repaired. Because the repair was necessary to make the vehicle operable, the failed component may no longer be available for inspection. The dealership’s repair order, diagnosis, invoices, and other documentation are available upon request. The failed power sliding door cable caused the driver’s-side sliding door to close suddenly and forcefully while the vehicle was parked on a hill. This presented a significant injury risk. The potential consequences would have been particularly serious if my child had been standing in the doorway when the failure occurred. In addition, the vehicle continuously alarmed after the failure and could not be operated normally until the repair was completed. The vehicle was taken to a local Honda dealership, which assessed and repaired the failed power sliding door cable. The dealership’s repair order and related documentation can be provided to confirm the diagnosis and repair. The vehicle was inspected by the local Honda dealership. I requested that American Honda review the diagnosis and repair documentation. They deny any faults on their end and refuse further assistance regarding this matter. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other indications that I was aware of before the power sliding door cable failed. There was no indication to me as the vehicle owner that the cable required replacement or was approaching failure. The first indication of a problem occurred when the cable failed suddenly, causing the sliding door to close with significant force, since I was parked at an incline. After the failure, the vehicle continuously alarmed and could not be operated normally until the repair was completed.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while the wife was driving into a park lot the vehicle suddenly stalled and would not restart. The vehicle was later towed back to the home. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 155,000.

Rear sliding doors will not shut automatic or otherwise!!!!! Having to pull the door shut to get it to shut could result in someone arms or fingers being crushed! The cord could snap and hurt someone! Kids riding in backseat could fall out of car while the door won’t shut! The door could open while driving down the road! These doors have costs us hundreds in trying to fix them and they just keep breaking!
