While my vehicle was in transit, it experienced a sudden and severe loss of engine power. Simultaneously, multiple malfunction indicator lights (MILs) illuminated on the dashboard, and my vehicle abruptly engaged "limp mode." This drastic restriction of speed and maneuverability while in active traffic created an immediate and severe safety hazard, which nearly resulted in a catastrophic collision. Following the incident, a formal complaint was initiated with Honda customer relations. My own independent research clearly indicates that premature head gasket failure is a well-documented, systemic defect within these specific vehicle models; therefore, a constructive resolution was anticipated. While the initial intake communication appeared promising, the subsequent follow-up was highly unprofessional. The Honda representative who returned my call was dismissive of the safety risks involved, lacked basic professional courtesy, and explicitly stated that the manufacturer would offer no financial assistance or mechanical remediation for this known defect due to a lack of service records. The failure of this component represents both a significant mechanical defect and a severe threat to driver and public safety. This report is being filed to formally document the hazardous nature of this failure in transit, as well as the manufacturer's refusal to address or take accountability for an ongoing, documented issue.

I own a 2019 Honda Accord Sport 1.5T that has an ongoing, unresolved engine/powertrain problem causing severe loss of acceleration, jerking, and a flashing check-engine light. The exact component causing the failure is UNKNOWN. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I initially took the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership and paid over $300 for diagnosis. Honda diagnosed the fuel injectors. I then paid approximately $800 at an independent shop to replace the fuel injectors, but the same problem continued. The vehicle was later evaluated by other repair providers. I was advised that the problem could involve the turbocharger wastegate actuator and, separately, the spark plugs and ignition coil packs. I replaced the spark plugs and coil packs, but the problem continued. Another shop later tightened/adjusted the wastegate actuator, but the vehicle continues experiencing the same issue. During a failure while driving, the vehicle lost acceleration, jerked, and the check-engine light flashed. The engine would run/turn over, but the vehicle would not accelerate or move normally when the accelerator was pressed. This left me unable to reliably maintain speed with traffic. My [XXX] daughter was with me when the vehicle became disabled, leaving us stranded on the side of the road in the summer heat until someone could pick us up. The sudden loss of acceleration created a risk of collision and left us exposed to roadside traffic and high temperatures. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Honda dealer and multiple independent repair providers. Despite multiple diagnoses and repairs, the dangerous loss-of-power condition continues. I am reporting this because the unpredictable loss of acceleration while driving presents a safety risk to my family and other motorists. Very loud static across multiple speakers, often independent of radio volume with intermittent static through multiple speakers even when muted or off. I can't hear sirens or emergency vehicles. I can't hear anything except loud static. This is a safety hazard. I read comments about this being a common issue with 2016/2017 Honda Accords XL and higher. This is a factory/manufacturer's defect. There should be a recall so customers don't have a $1400 expense for replacement. Unable to upload video of very loud static noise.

The entire monitor is experiencing "ghost touch" issues. While driving, the monitor rapidly changes screens beeping each time. It will throw you out of bluetooth into a random radio station. It switches from screen to screen beeping each time. It is extremely distracting while driving. In my opinion, the distraction is hazardous. It has been to dealer, I have also filed a case with Honda Case # 16523872). Dealer had it for 3 days, did nothing, said there are no parts available to fix it. They said sometimes this means Honda is working on a recall but they have no way of knowing for sure. Honda has NOT issued a recall. Honda Case Manager confirms they are "still working on it". This all started 6 weeks ago and car monitor continues to experience the "ghost touch" issue

The infotainment screen experiences “ghost touches” where random controls are pushed without a person actually touching it. It will switch views (maps to radio to settings), turn itself off and on, and becomes a major driver distraction and at times a safety hazard. Distraction? Quickly changing audio sources one after another. One second you hear map directions, then AM radio, Sirius XM, FM radio, etc…all changing rapidly. Safety hazard? Beyond the distraction, if one is using maps to navigate in the city, the system will leave maps to bounce to other views and sources leaving you with no directions or possibly delayed instructions. Honda has no fix. Dealer says if they can’t duplicate it they can’t do anything. This happens at very random times. A system reset can fix it temporarily, but it always comes back. A system reset requires you to stop, turn the vehicle off and know the exact convoluted procedure.

- #11756560August 12, 2026POWER TRAIN, ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I am reporting a safety concern involving my 2018 Honda Accord. I purchased my vehicle used in January 2024 at approximately 90,000 miles and have kept up with the recommended maintenance during my ownership. At approximately 120,000 miles, a Honda dealership diagnosed head-gasket failure with coolant intrusion involving cylinders 3 and 4. Before diagnosis, the vehicle experienced rising engine temperature while idling, coolant loss, jerking during acceleration, numerous warning lights, and severely reduced acceleration. The problem progressed to loss of power and stalling while driving and slowing/stopping, requiring me to place the vehicle in Park and restart the engine to continue driving. The vehicle also developed unstable RPMs and engine surging while in Park. Honda performed a cooling-system pressure test and borescope inspection and confirmed coolant intrusion. Head-gasket replacement cost approximately $5,000. I contacted American Honda (Case #16533411), but goodwill assistance was denied because the vehicle is outside warranty and Honda stated it had no Honda-dealership service history. I am reporting this because the head-gasket failure resulted in loss of propulsion and stalling while operating the vehicle, creating a serious safety concern.

- #11756572August 12, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Automatic braking has engaged at least 3 times in the last year when there was no car nearby or obstacle in the road. This has happened on city streets at speeds of approx 30-45mph. If this sudden braking happened at freeway speeds it's highly likely I would be rear ended. I have not taken it to dealer as I expect that they will say what they typically do ...nothing is wrong. Granted it is difficult to reproduce the phantom braking for them to observe the issue. The alarm sounded and the large red "Brake" light came on on the dash. 8.12.26 incident was in a lane adjacent to traffic cones but I was nowhere near hitting them.

In July 2026, our 2018 Honda Accord required a head gasket replacement. Prior to the diagnosis, the vehicle began experiencing rough starts and engine misfires. While driving, the car suddenly lost power and would not accelerate beyond approximately 10 mph. After returning home and restarting the vehicle, its performance temporarily returned to normal; however, the engine continued to idle roughly. We had the vehicle scanned, and the diagnostic result indicated a misfire in Cylinder 3. The vehicle was taken to our local Honda dealership, where we were informed the head gasket failed and needed to be replaced. Given that the vehicle has fewer than 140,000 miles, we do not believe such a major engine repair should be necessary. Over the past 25 years we have owned multiple Honda vehicles, including Accords, Civics and CR-Vs well over 200,000 miles with our current 2008 Honda CR-V having more than 344,000 miles. None of these vehicles have ever experienced a head gasket failure or similar engine issue. We have never had such a significant costly repair, over $6,000. We are extremely disappointed that our 2018 Accord required such a significant repair at relatively low mileage. We have also learned of allegations in ongoing litigation Bissell v American Honda Motor Co, involving similar head gasket issues affecting Honda vehicles. Based on our experience and the number of reported complaints, we believe Honda should issue a recall, provide warranty coverage or reimburse affected owners for repair costs whichever benefits the customer. We respectfully request that Honda review our case and consider reimbursement or goodwill assistance for this unexpected and expensive repair.

Vehicle caused a SEVERE drivability condition while at highway speeds by sputtering, losing power and auxiliary driver's systems becoming degraded. We were able to drive the vehicle in limp mode to a near service station. They ran diagnostics and determined that there were multiple secondary events affecting the ADAS system. They also checked the battery and determined it was marginally good. We managed to drive the vehicle in degraded mode to our home and we changed the battery the following day. Upon doing so, all affected systems became available again and the vehicle's driveability profile was restored. This behavior is incredibly unsettling and UNSAFE. A vehicle that is so sensitive to electrical fluctuations should have BETTER warning systems that would prevent, or at least advise the driver, that an unsafe condition will occur unless the battery is promptly replaced. This behavior could easily cause an accident if the driver is unprepared to react to the vehicle sudden and unpredictable shutdown of engine power and safety systems. This needs to be investigated and corrective measures need to be promptly proposed to affected vehicle.

- #11756266August 11, 2026STEERING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Subject of Complaint: Sudden, simultaneous failure of critical safety and driver assist systems originating from an electronic sensor/control module failure inside the electronic power steering (EPS) gearbox. Description of Safety Hazard and Dashboard Indicators: While operating the vehicle, the Driver Information Interface (DII) suddenly illuminated with multiple critical safety faults simultaneously. The primary indicator was the amber Electric Power Steering (EPS) System Problem warning light (steering wheel icon with an exclamation point). Due to the electronic architecture of the vehicle, the loss of reliable data from the steering gearbox caused a cascading failure across the Honda Sensing safety suite. The dashboard displayed a sequence of distinct system errors, explicitly disabling: Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Problem Road Departure Mitigation System Problem Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Problem Safety Risk to Occupants: The unexpected failure of the EPS system immediately compromised the vehicle's handling characteristics, significantly increasing the steering effort required to control the vehicle. Furthermore, the simultaneous and total disabling of the Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, and Adaptive Cruise Control systems unexpectedly stripped away active crash-avoidance features. This sudden degradation of vehicle control and driver-assist capabilities creates an immediate, severe collision hazard on public roadways.

- #11755873August 10, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, AIR BAGS
The contact owns a 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed into a parking space, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to stop. The vehicle unintendedly accelerated and drove over a parking space bump. The contact shifted the transmission into reverse(R) and depressed the accelerator pedal, and then the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to stop. The contact turned the steering wheel while driving approximately 30-40 MPH to avoid crashing in other vehicles and structures in the parking lot. The vehicle reversed in circles and crashed into the side of a fence before it came to a stop. The air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered back, hip, and leg pain but had not received medical attention immediately. The contact's granddaughter was a passenger inside the vehicle and had no injuries. The contact later sought medical attention from a massage therapist. No Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that there was 100% acceleration without the brakes activating, and the vehicle was not shifted into park(P). The vehicle was then towed to a Collision Center for rear damages; however, the vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed that a third-party company would evaluate the vehicle and the Event Data Recorder (EDR) to recalibrate the EDR. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 23,069.
