Upon investigation, the contact discovered that other GMC vehicles had similar failure; however, there were no recalls on his vehicle. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and neither offered any assistance. The contact was later referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

SERVICE BRAKES
Brakes go to floor an brake peddle starts to vibrate, (lost of brakes ) Brake assist light comes on. Vehicle has 27000 miles . Problem started at 6000 miles an was brought to GMC service centers 3 times for same issue. They replaced 3 different parts at a total cost of1600 dollars. Brake system is being replaced one part at a time at my expense, GMC has no clue what problem is. Will not admit there is an issue? Just got vehicle back for 3rd time an 3rd new part .

ENGINE
Excessive oil consumption, on average this vehicle is burning off 2 or more quarts of oil over approximately 1,000 miles. The vehicle is also hard idling, jerky and lunging forward at a stop. The entire engine shakes until it sounds like it stalls out. The Check engine light turns on and off when it has been over 2500 miles after an oil change and when the gas gauge reads 1/4 of a tank or less. The diagnostic tool plug does not register anything; does not even turn the diagnostic tool on when plugged in. This vehicle has stalled while driving with no warning lights or indicators. I called GMC on 10/11/22 to inquiry about these issues the called me back on 10/12/22 and was told that they could not find a recall. I then mentioned the class action lawsuit and they said they found something. They then tried to tell me that recalls are ONLY VIN specific, which is a lie. I already got the recall notice but when I went to get it done they tried to tell me that I had to get services done with them for 6months before they would do the recall fix. And Now I have a car sitting in the shop that I can’t use because it needs a new engine.

The contact owns a 2012 GMC Terrain. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly stall. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact discovered that there was no presence of engine oil inside the engine. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption, and he had been refilling the engine oil reservoir weekly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine piston rings were faulty, causing the rapid oil consumption. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 97,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
When I’m reverse screen shows blue and message says “service rear camera system” I purchased this car NEW in 2019 and warranty just expired. I have read so many forums with this being a common problem with gmc. Why this isn’t covered and over $600 coming out of my pocket to fix it is ridiculous. This is a safety issue and gmc flaw and should be corrected/covered by them.

I went in yesterday, 10/6/22, for a fix to recall #N222363740. All they did was put an applique on the outside of both my headlights which came off at the car wash today. I waited 4 years for a remedy and an hour at the dealer for cheap looking bandaid. NOT ACCEPTABLE!! See attached photo of GM's fix.

I was driving through a four way intersection with my children and the breaks locked up and I couldn’t get to a stop. This was the middle of September: There are MULTIPLE complaints on this happening with my model and someone is going to die if it’s not recalled. This is a serious safety concern. There was NO warning, or light to prepare me for the problem. Please do something to help us.

ENGINE, POWER TRAIN, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
When driving the car at low speeds, or right after having been stopped for a few moments. Upon, acceleration, the car will sometimes go into a limp mode. On the DIC, will be displayed a warning about how the car will have the speed reduced after 175 miles and to check the emissions system. The speed has already been reduced at that point. Also displayed maybe a warning about how the power has been reduced. USUALLY, if I turn off the car and wait about a minute, I can restart the car and drive at a normal highway speed again. But not always. The warning on the DIC, will usually turn off if the car does return to normal speeds after about 5 - 10 miles. However, the check engine light may still stay on for several days. This problem can be a daily occurrence. I've had the car in the shop several times, and they have been unable to fix the problem. The car can be unpredictably unsafe, when speed is instantly reduced to 30 mph!

Turbo failed. Car ran fine with no warning lights. Stopped at red light entering interstate and then could not accelerate which left us stuck in traffic. When it did move it would not shift and took over a mile to get above 20mph in a 65mph zone.

my vacuum booster pump for my brakes keeps needing to be replaced. i had to get it replaced twice now & every single time that it stopped working i was driving on the highway at 65 mph and my brakes just suddenly wouldn’t work and we’re very hard to push down. this has happened twice now
