Tahoe brake system failing, takes longer to stop. Brake pedal begins to feel solid on activation with little effect to slow or stop. Due to failure to stop, Almost in a few collisions and rolled down a hillside road. Tahoe is now parked. I read the 2014-2018 tahoes have a (brake) vacuum pump issue for recall. 19V645000 Recall number Called local dealership. Is not on recall list. Not submitted to dealership yet. No appointments until January 2023. I’m sure they can reproduce issue Tahoe not inspected by others No warning lights or other in vehicle advisals

POWER TRAIN, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while starting and driving the vehicle, there was an abnormal whining noise detected. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After retrieving the vehicle from the dealer, the contact stated she was driving, and the brake pedal was hard and failed to respond. The contact drove into the curb. The contact called and informed the dealer of the additional failure. The contact also stated that the whining noise persisted. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to her residence. The vehicle was then towed to the local dealer again where it was diagnosed and determined that the vacuum pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that while driving after retrieving the vehicle, the vehicle was jerking. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Dash was blank when vehicle was started waited a few minutes before driving did not know speed all was blank. Stopped after driving around 5 miles to decide, to drive home or call for help. After 20 minutes started vehicle this time dash working drove home with no issues. Will call Dealer Monday to report problem.

Remote started my Tahoe, got in and the dash said “brake system failure”. I put it in reverse and sure enough complete loss/failure of brakes. Let the car shut down and cycle, tried to move it again, same thing happened. Depressed my foot on the brake to the floor and no response from the brakes or braking system.

Brakes failed to work at low speed. Traveling in stop and go traffic on I-40 and the brake pedal became hard as a rock and was pulsing. Had to pull over and coast to a stop. Performed a test on the median of the highway and again the brakes failed to work. We were towed to the repair shop. Awaiting the repair diagnosis and cost.

ENGINE
My 6 yr old chevy Tahoe felt like it was hesitating when driving. I called my local garage and dropped it off. They informed me after inspection that the lifters have failed and now cylinders are in deactivation made. The fix is a new Engine. 10-14k dollars. They informed me this is a known issue in this model. I called chevy customer service. I Took Tahoe to a chevy dealer. They confirmed the diagnosis. I have no recall, no engine light on and am told driving it will cause more serious damage and eventually will not run. Chevy is unresponsive to my pleas for financial assistance and I am left without a driveable car.

The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: M Plus S, Tire Size: P265/65/R18, DOT Number: M3KA007X0820. The contact stated that the rear passenger’s side tire was continuously losing air. While the vehicle was in for routine service, the tire was examined by the mechanic who discovered the cause of the failure was due to multiple pin holes in the tire. The contact was informed that the tire was unrepairable and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle decelerated and abruptly slowed down and lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the SMR lifter and the engine failed. The contact called the local dealer who informed her that the parts were back ordered but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no additional assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 104,163.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, STEERING, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
On several occasions at various speeds, both driving straight and turning, my 2015 Chevy Tahoe has turned off. During higher speeds the SUV will turn back on, instantly, by itself but during lower speeds and turning the car has to be manual turned back on by switching into neutral, pressing the break, and pushing the start button. The most recent time this has happened, it was dark outside and I was turning. I lost everything including my head and tail lights so it was hard for oncoming traffic to see me. I also almost hit someone coming in the other lane because I was unable to fully turn due to the loss of power steering. After this happens, I get many warning/action required messages across the dashboard but no check engine light or code have come up. I will be taking it to the dealer but since it does not happen every time the care is driven, I can only hope they can experience what happens.

SERVICE BRAKES
I recently had my brakes and rotors replaced for this issue. Any time I’m backing my vehicle into and parking spot drive way garage etc it’s difficult to stop. I’m flooring the pedal to stop. I cracked my number because I couldn’t stop. I’ve seen an article for a recall on 2018 models that were made in 2017. My truck is a 2017 experiencing these same issues. No recalls are current for this isssue. Not sure if I’m the only one but it is happening.
