- #11676370July 26, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
On steep hills the car automatically holds the brake for a predetermined amount of time, I believe 2.5 to 3 sec. I have a manual transmission car and when its time to move the brake assist won't release no matter what until the time interval is satisfied. The problem this creates is a stall issue. Its hard to coordinate when to depress the clutch and give gas. Too early and you lead to premature clutch wear or clutch overheating. Too late and the car stalls and you have to restart it. This is very because now you have to restart the car and can cause an accident.

Drove for 1.5 hours in 70 degree weather at 55-70 mph average highway driving. There was no impact, crash, or other form of collisions. No bolts, rocks, or debris were visualized coming from the car in front of me >300 ft. The sunroof spontaneously exploded with a very loud noise then showering of glass. Passenger was cut from falling glass. Glass shards/dust/chunks were present in all seats. No warning lights, messages, or symptoms before failure. Sunroof in working mechanical condition in drive prior to event. No known external cause of failure, likely intrinsic to glass. Car not inspected by police or insurance. VW dealership refusing to inspect window.

After only 312 miles new and only driven vehicle for 5 days. I received a warning about my forward collision warning system was a problem. Weather has been good. Not wet, temp was 72 degrees. I just started my car and had not driven yet. Chicago area. I set up a maintenance service to see the cause of it. Never saw this before on any of my previous vehicles especially brand new 2025 model

- Rear brake pads. They were replaced at 22,464 miles under warranty due to premature wear, and at just 34,170 miles (less than 12,000 miles later), they are already down to 4mm. Yes, the component is available for inspection upon request. - The rapid and premature wear of the rear brake pads reduces braking efficiency and increases stopping distance, particularly in emergency situations or adverse weather. If this wear continues unnoticed, it could lead to brake failure or reduced rear braking function, creating a serious safety hazard for myself, passengers, and others on the road. - Yes. The original issue was diagnosed and confirmed by Safford Brown VW in Richmond, VA in January 2024. The dealership replaced the rear pads under warranty at that time and stated the wear was premature. Those same pads are now down to 4mm after less than 12,000 miles. - Yes. Volkswagen authorized the original replacement under warranty due to premature wear. The issue has now recurred, and I contacted Volkswagen Customer Care directly, who declined to offer a solution and redirected me back to the dealership. - No warning lamps or messages appeared. The only symptom is the abnormal wear itself, confirmed by a technician upon routine inspection. The pads were previously found to be under 2mm in 2024, and now, less than 12k miles later, are already down to 4mm—far faster than what is typical for rear pads.

- #11661622May 17, 2025TIRES, TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS
The tire went flat as I was driving and when I had to change the tire I noticed that the tire had blown out on the sidewall on the inside of the rim of the car. The car only has 12,000 miles and I had a tire rotation done on my first oil change. I called the dealership to see if the tire was covered under warranty since I brought the car new for Steve White VW of Greenville, SC. They told me since I didn’t buy a warranty with the purchase of the car then it was nothing they could do about it. I brought a car thinking that the tires should be good until they wear out not blow out. Also I have TPMS light on as well as the check engine light is on in the vehicle. 205/55R17

While driving home from work (I travel with the railroad weekly) on Thursday, [XXX], I had my vehicle set on cruise control going west on [XXX] in TN. Out of nowhere, my engine overheated and I lost my coolant. Upon pulling over, I observed no trail of coolant and nothing leaking under my vehicle. I refilled the coolant and made it home. The next morning, my coolant tank was empty again. I took it to my local VW dealership and was informed that the head gasket needed to be replaced. Upon research, I found that on August 17th, 2023, VW put out a Technical Service Bulletin stating that the "Original engine production head gasket design can lead to coolant leaks." This Bulletin did list the engine for my vehicle purchased that year. I was told that "Our manager name is Tim. He informed me that TSB is sent out when they are seeing these issues occur. It is a tech tip to help the technician diagnosis the vehicle. Your vehicle is out of warranty therefore it wouldn't be cover." The engine issue is well known with VW, with a statement that the issue is known. The Bulletin also advised "Improve head gasket design and coating as of Engine Number DNKA 234 458 July 27th 2023." So there is a fix to this issue and BW refuses to fix the issue at hand and is attempting to charge just under $3,500 for the repair. Starting in 2022 at 16,000 miles this vehicle has been to dealership 8 times for check engine light related to the EVAP. Multiple repairs have been done and still same issue. VW does not seem interested in properly addressing this problem.

my Volkswagen Jetta GLI 40th anniversary 6MT, has had multiple misfire check engine lights appear on dash since owning the car, multiple times has the car been to the dealership and multiple times they blamed me as the operator for the issue, i was told it was bad gas, then a software update was made available to fix the misfire issue and within 150 miles of getting the update the misfires happened again. the vehicle can be made ready for an inspection if needed. the misfire check engine light occurs during start up of the vehicle and i am stationary at this time. to my knowledge the components have been inspected by the dealership. the first misfire happened at around 4000 miles and the dealership claimed it was bad gas, then again at 6400 miles at which point the dealership performed the software update. since then i have had 2 additional misfire messages that I had not documented at the dealership.

The rear brake calipers are not fully opening, causing the pads to drag on the rotors. The dealership has replaced the pads per instructions from VW Engineering; however, per the dealership, they state that it's a software problem causing the calipers to drag against the rotors and VW hasn't issued any software updates to fix the known problem. They did "extend" the brake warranty for consumables to 2 years/24000 miles at no cost the customer however, the software problem has not been fixed and VW is ignoring the problem. The front breaks are also gripping and causing a varnish build up and there is no fix for that problem, either. I have a 2023 VW Jetta SE with only 14,362miles and I've had to have the breaks serviced 3 times due to the breaking problem.

Climate controls are NOT voice activated. Driver has to take eyes off of road for long duration to change/modify interior heat/cooling functions. There are no knobs only stupid touch screen junk. Vehicles must be recalled to install user safe functionality to these climate control functions. Stop the stupid touch screen stupidity.

I bought this 2022 Jetta new on August 2022. The dealership replaced brakes on their own on July 1, 2023. This was 11 months after I purchased the vehicle. Vehicle had 10, 900 miles on 7/1/2023. On August 26, 2024 I brought the vehicle to the dealership and reported issues with the breaking system. The service technician discovered worn-out pads and break rotors needed replacement. The service department refused to complete the work because the vehicle was out of warranty. A claim was filed with Volkswagen Corporation(case #06407327). Claim was declined. Break pads and rotors are being worn-out within 11-15 months. This is a safety issue. Volkswagen Corporation refuses to recognize the mechanical issue.

A few weeks after purchasing my car, my brakes started to squeak. I went to the dealership to get them fixed and they told me that they didn’t see anything wrong with the brakes. All they did was clean the brakes because they said they weren’t ready to be replaced. This did not fix the issue and my brakes started to squeak again that same day. I went to the dealership again a couple months ago for the same issue. I showed the lady a video of what my brakes sound like while I’m driving to showcase how irregular the squeaking sounds. I was told that the squeaking is normal and that there is no fix for them. She told me that Volkswagen hasn’t been able to find a pad that fits properly which causes the squeaking to occur. My breaks were replaced that same day and the squeaking occurred again as I was driving out of the dealership. Paying thousands of dollars for my car just for it to squeak disturbingly loud and for there to be no fix for it just a few weeks after purchasing it and still two years later, is absolutely frustrating and unacceptable. I expect a vehicle of this quality and price to perform without persistent, unresolved issues—especially concerning safety-related components like brakes. At this point, I would like to escalate the matter. I believe Volkswagen should take responsibility for this defect, whether through a permanent fix, a recall, or another solution. What are my options for further action? Should I contact Volkswagen corporate, file a complaint with a consumer protection agency, or explore legal options under the Lemon Law?
