SummarySubaru has determined that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists on 5,379 2013MY Subaru Legacy and Outback vehicles. The steering column may not have been manufactured to specification. During the manufacturing process, the steering column shafts may not have been ?press-fitted? sufficiently. This could allow the shafts to disengage from one another. If this were to happen, the driver would lose the ability to steer the vehicle and a crash could occur. This recall will involve replacing the steering column on all affected vehicles

SummaryIf you encounter a customer complaint of a white residue build up on the rear door partition glass or interior molding, it may be crystallized salt. Normally, the condition will occur during the winter months in states that use salt or similar mineral based anti-icing agents on their streets and highways. Under certain conditions, exterior water that enters the molding, and would normally drain away, may be drawn up into the interior of the partition glass molding where it will evaporate and leave trace mineral deposits behind. An additional seal rib was added to the inside lip of the molding to prevent any exterior water from moving to the inside of the molding.

SummaryThis Bulletin provides production change, repair procedure and parts information to address a customer concern of a high-pitched sound coming from the transmission extension housing area. In cold temperatures, thermal contraction causes shrinking of the transmission case. In high temperatures, expansion of the case occurs. These temperature changes affect the amount of preload on the transfer driven shaft bearings. In some rare cases, when preload is very near the limit of specification combined with unusual driving conditions, this thermally-induced pre-load change may cause damage to the bearings and result in the sound heard by the customer. A change has been made to the extension case and a new ?Dish Plate? added. The machining depth of the extension case has been increased to accommodate the new dish plate. When used along with a selective thrust washer, the spring tension of the dish plate helps to maintain a consistent amount of pre-load on these bearings throughout varying temperature conditions.
