The 2024 Ram 1500 3.6L V6 E-Torque engine stalls at low speeds. Without warning the engine shuts off and the emergency brake automatically engages, when the truck comes to a stop it shifts into park, and I have to restart the truck. Fortunately this has only happened in parking lots at speeds of around 5mph. This has happened twice so far. The battery voltage dropped from 13.8 volts to 12.2 volts during both stall events. The truck is 1 year old with 15,324 miles on it.

Throttle stuck at 4500 RPM. Had to stand on brakes and turn key off. Was backing into my back yard and almost hit the house. From dead stop pushed gas petal to back up and it took off at a high rate of speed.

Complaint Summary My 2022 Ram 1500 has a recurring safety issue where the engine shuts off unexpectedly after coming to a complete stop and then attempting to accelerate. This typically occurs at stop signs. When it happens, the dashboard flashes warnings, the emergency brake sometimes engages, and the truck prompts me to “apply brake and push start button.” I’ve nearly been rear-ended due to the sudden loss of power. Safety Concerns This issue poses a serious safety risk. The truck stalls in traffic, leaving me vulnerable to collisions. The unpredictability of the failure makes it difficult to drive with confidence, especially when transporting my family. Request for Action I urge NHTSA to investigate this issue further and work with Stellantis (Ram’s parent company) to identify the root cause and issue a recall or software fix. Owners deserve a safe and reliable vehicle, and this defect undermines that trust.

The contact owns a 2023 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while either starting the vehicle, driving, or parking, the steering wheel was loose and then became tightened. Additionally, there was a burning odor near the front of the vehicle while driving 25 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the steering rack had failed, and the steering rack lubricant had leaked out, resulting in the burning odor. The dealer replaced the steering rack, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer, Nielsen Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of East Hanover (175 NJ-10, East Hanover, NJ 07936), who replaced the steering shaft and column, as well as the steering rack twice; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The vehicle is a 2022 RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab that experienced a complete failure of the 48-volt eTorque battery pack and Motor Generator Unit (MGU). On August 1, 2025, at approximately 11,374 miles, the truck became inoperable and had to be towed to the dealership. The dealership confirmed the failure of the eTorque hybrid system components. The vehicle has remained out of service since August 1, 2025, with multiple delays in sourcing the required replacement parts (battery pack and MGU). As of early October 2025, the truck remains at the dealership and has been non-operational for over 60 consecutive days. Safety Concerns: This failure presented a serious safety risk because the truck could not be driven or restarted after it stalled in the middle of a busy street. If the failure had occurred on a freeway or in traffic, the sudden loss of power could have led to a collision, placing the driver, passengers, and others on the road at risk. Inspection and Repairs: The failure was reproduced and confirmed by [XXX] Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM (La Mesa, CA). Chrysler/Stellantis engineering reviewed the case under Case #93835258 and authorized replacement parts. As of now, the vehicle is still not restored to operational condition despite multiple part shipments and attempted repairs. Warning/Failure Indicators: Prior to failure, the vehicle did NOT display warning lamps and messages associated with the hybrid system malfunction. Once the fault occurred, the vehicle could not run. Summary: Component(s) failed: 48V eTorque battery pack and Motor Generator Unit (MGU). Risk: Sudden loss of propulsion, high safety risk. Inspection: Confirmed by dealership and Stellantis engineers. Out of service: Vehicle has been non-operational since August 1, 2025 (over 60 days). Availability: The vehicle remains at the dealership and can be inspected upon request. The airbag system failed to deploy during a front-end collision. Despite significant damage to the front of the vehicle, none of the airbags activated. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The driver (my husband) hit his head on the steering wheel due to the airbags not deploying, which put his safety at serious risk. The lack of airbag deployment increased the chances of injury during the impact. The problem has not yet bee confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. We are in the process of having the vehicle inspected. The vehicle was seen by police and today insurance representatives will inspect it. However, the manufacturer has not yet inspected the airbag system No warning lights or messages were present before the accident. There were no signs that the airbag system was malfunctioning.

The alternator has went bad on my 5.7 V8 E-torque motor and the alternator is on back order from Dodge and no dealers are able to tell the owners when the part will be available. My truck has been down for a week with no end sight. I have reached out to Dodge on several occasions and then placed on hold only to have my phone calls redirected to an State of Indiana Dodge dealer.

While driving the vehice on 9/23/25, it randomly turned off while driving down my street. Took a while to get it started again, then once it was started, it would not turn off. I brought the vehicle to a local shop. There were NO warning lights. The next day they let me know that the issue was from a faulty sliding backlite, there were cracks on the frame by the back windows that caused water to leak down around the window into a control module that was filled with water that caused the vehicle to randomly turn off while driving down the street then later caused it to not be able to turn off. If this issue caused the vehicle to turn off while on a highway or a curvy road it would have almost definitely ended with a severe accident. I got in touch with stellantis and they know about the issue but aren't willing to help in any way.

I put the car in drive and heard a loud bang. When I went to move it sounded like metal scraping. It turns out the front differential cracked and came loose making the truck inoperable. The truck was not off road and has been well taken care of. The part is three weeks on back order for a new front axle because this is happening to many of the RAM trucks.

On Sept 22, 2025, the vehicle completely shut off while my son was driving the car to school. The car was in Drive and gave no warning at all. It just shut off in the middle of the road while he was driving appx 25-30mph. He was able to restart the car and get to school safely. When he left school a few hours later and started to drive home, the car shut off again, without warning and while it was in Drive, again appx 25-30 mph. He was able to restart it, and then pulled into the nearest parking lot, and had the car towed to the dealership. On Sept 25, the dealer said they updated the software for "PCM" and "TCM", and replaced the Ignition System Control Module. I picked the car up later that day and began to drive home. About 10 miles into my drive home, the vehicle shut off again, without warning. The car was towed again and now the dealership is telling me they can't find anything wrong with it. This car is going to cause a serious accident and/or a serious injury or death.

In August of this year while the truck was moving, it just shut off and the parking brake was engaged. I brought it to the dealer and they checked the truck through the computer. They could not find any issues. Just this past Saturday 9/27/2025 while i was backing up into a parking space, the vehicle shut down again in gear and the parking brake was again engaged. I call the Service dept at Gainesville Dodge in Florida and have another appt for a week from tomorrow. The first occurrence was 8/2026 I called another dealership in Starke Florida and spoke to their service dept. They informed me they have had the same issue with other Ram trucks but cannot find the cause. This unexpected shutting down is extremely dangerious! I searched the internet and found this issue is not uncommon. There were many reports of the same issue happening to other owners. Shutting down on a major highway can cause a major accident when this occurs. This needs to be looked into by your agency. Thank you.

I was driving on the highway going the speed limit and the car suddenly slowed to 35 and all sorts of lights (check engine light and others) came on and messages went across the screen about the throttle control and stability control. This is the 4th time this has happened to me. Each time I bring it to the dealer and am told "its a known computer glitch" or that there is a fix but it continues to happen again. Suddenly losing power and speed has caused other drivers to slam on breaks, swerve, etc. In order to reset the car I have to pull over on the highway to restart it. This is putting my safety and the safety of others at risk.

- #11690221September 28, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, STEERING
Upon starting my vehicle, numerous warning lamps/messages appeared to include: - "Service Electronic Stability Control" - "4WD System Temporarily Unavailable" - "Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) Off" - "Blind Spot Alert Unavailable Service Required" (the blind spot indicator lights on the side mirrors were also illuminated) In addition to the above warnings, I no longer had electronic power steering, making the vehicle nearly impossible to turn. Thankfully I was parked when all of this occurred. Had I been driving, the loss of power steering alone could have been catastrophic. I shut down the vehicle hoping that the issues would resolve upon restart. Unfortunately they did not. It took multiple more shutdowns/restarts and approximately 20 minutes before the problems disappeared and the vehicle seemed to be functioning properly. I immediately drove the vehicle to the dealership for service. As of this writing, they have not been able to replicate the problem nor find a cause.

While towing, my truck threw P00AF-00 Turbocharger Boost Control Module "A" Performance and ABS C121C-00 Torque Request Signal Denied codes and I lost power due to turbocharger not engaging. Alarms that were lit included CEL, Service Electronic Throttle Control, and the Stabilizer system. The safety aspect is the loss of power while towing on a highway. The original code was cleared by my hometown dealer and vehicle ran well. 130 miles later it happened again, cleared by dealer in Parkersburg WV On the way home it happened a 3rd time. After parking for half an hour the alarm lights went off and I had full power. A day later the CEL also went off leaving no evidence of a problem on my dash. The vehicle is scheduled at the local dealer tomorrow (9/29/25) The trailer and truck combination was well within the towing limits of the vehicle. There are various threads in RAM owner groups that allude to this problem in the Gen 3 Ecodiesel The truck is under an extended warranty from MOPAR...hope they resolve the problem

Every time my wife sits in her passenger seat the SOS warning goes off like it’s trying to call for help, but the call doesn’t go through. Thankfully because there is never a problem, and now the airbag warning is saying it’s not working. Our dealership said the part needed was on back order and they couldn’t get it any faster unless we called customer support. Which is what I thought they were! It was then expedited. On top of all this we are traveling from clear across the country.
