While driving, I swerved slightly to avoid a dog and went into a shallow ditch less than one foot deep. There was no collision, no structural damage, and no repairs needed to the vehicle. Despite the extremely minor impact, both airbags deployed unexpectedly. This deployment was violent and occurred without a qualifying crash. I believe this indicates a faulty airbag sensor, airbag control module malfunction, or other defect in the airbag system.

Component/System: The fire department determined the cause of the fire to be accidental due to an electrical malfunction within the vehicle. The most extensive damage was located in the engine compartment, though damage spread to the passenger compartment as well. The vehicle is available on request. The vehicle caught fire while parked on a street. No injuries or displacements occured. However, the vehicle became "well involved" with fire, creating an active emergency that required emergent fire department response and suppression. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Since the vehicle receive so much damage, it would only be the emergency response and origin determination by Lubbock Fire Rescue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected on-scene by Lubbock Fire Rescue (Unit E7). The fire department noted no signs of vandalism or tampering, concluding the cause was accidental. The police was also on the scene as well. Were there any warning messages? The owner stated they had driven the vehicle around 20:30 (8:30 PM) the previous evening and it had been parked since. The fire did not break out until approximately 05:13 AM the following morning. There wasn’t any warning lamps or unusual symptoms l present during or prior to that final drive. Summary: On May 28, 2026 the 2018 Nissan Rogue internally combusted. Subsequent inspection of the vehicle revealed fire damage in both the passenger compartment and the engine compartment, with the most severe and extensive damage concentrated in the engine bay. Fire officials found no evidence of tampering or vandalism. Based on the burn patterns and origin point, Lubbock Fire Rescue determined the cause of the fire to be accident al, resulting from an internal electrical malfunction within the vehicle.

- #11740620May 28, 2026ENGINE
Component Affected: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Description of the Defect & Incident: My 2024 Nissan Rogue equipped with the 1.5L VC-Turbo engine is exhibiting severe progressive mechanical failure, matching the symptoms described in NHTSA Campaign Numbers 26V080000 (Engine Bearing Seizure) and 26V081000 (Throttle Body Gear Failure). The vehicle is currently experiencing excessive engine shaking, a violently rough idle, abnormal mechanical noise from the engine bay, and a dangerous drop in motive power/acceleration. History of the Issue & Dealer Denial: I originally identified and proactively reported an abnormal engine noise to an authorized Nissan dealership in May 2024. The service department issued a "could not duplicate" finding and turned me away. In June 2024, I provided a digital audio/video recording of the symptom at that time. Following the closure of the initial Nissan dealership, I transferred the care and servicing of my 2024 Nissan Rogue to Future Nissan of Roseville. I explicitly reported the recurring, abnormal, loud engine noise and excessive engine shaking with no remedy offered. Following the official February 2026 recall announcements, the symptoms have severely worsened, progressing to violent engine shaking. I returned to the dealership for the recall remedy. The dealership service department is actively denying recall coverage, claiming the current failure is an unrelated "secondary issue" rather than a consequence of the recalled components. Because Nissan's own NHTSA filings explicitly state that these defects are progressive and give advanced warning through "unusual noises or vibration/rough running" before complete engine failure, the dealership's refusal to honor the recall is a violation of federal safety standards. The alleged secondary damage is direct consequential damage from a primary safety defect that I documented within the initial warranty period. Nissan must take responsibility for this failure.

- #11740511May 28, 2026POWER TRAIN, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ENGINE
While driving my 2023 Nissan Rogue on Interstate xxx from [XXX] to [XXX] with my xxx daughter in the vehicle, the vehicle suddenly displayed multiple warnings including collision assist/sensor malfunction warnings, start/stop system failure warnings, and “check owner’s manual” messages. Immediately afterward, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power and refusal to accelerate. At the time of failure, I was traveling approximately 78 mph in the fast lane of the interstate. The vehicle rapidly lost speed and dropped into what appeared to be limp mode, eventually slowing into the upper 50 mph range despite pressing the accelerator. I had to fight across multiple lanes of freeway traffic while unable to maintain highway speed. This created an extremely dangerous situation due to surrounding high-speed traffic and limited safe shoulder access in a remote desert area. The vehicle became unsafe to continue driving and required a tow of over 70 miles to the nearest Nissan dealership. The tow expense alone exceeded $600. Prior to this incident, the vehicle had already experienced a separate unexplained no-power/no-start event. At that time, the battery, starter, and alternator reportedly tested normal. The vehicle remains within the manufacturer’s 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty and currently has active recalls associated with the vehicle. A Nissan case has been opened and the vehicle is pending dealer diagnosis and inspection. After posting publicly about this incident in Nissan owner groups, I identified numerous other owners reporting nearly identical symptoms involving warning light cascades, sudden loss of acceleration, limp mode events, and highway safety concerns. This incident created a serious safety hazard involving sudden highway deceleration and loss of motive power during interstate travel. Around 100,000 miles, my vehicle began experiencing intermittent hesitation, sudden loss of power, and frequent stalling. Prior to the complete failure, the vehicle would occasionally hesitate during acceleration and feel like it was losing engine power while driving. Over time, the problem became more frequent. One day, while driving approximately 50 mph on a side road, the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning and completely lost power. I was luckily able to avoid an accident, and no one was injured, but the sudden shutdown created a serious safety hazard and significantly increased the risk of being rear-ended by other vehicles. The vehicle continues to stall frequently and hesitate during operation, making it unsafe to drive. The failed component was confirmed by Nissan. The dealership diagnosed the issue and recommended replacement of the defective part for over $900. However, a Nissan mechanic explained that the repair only involved removing and replacing the common problem, which is the Mass air flow sensor, secured by two screws. I replaced the component myself for approximately $90, and the vehicle temporarily improved. Unfortunately, the stalling, hesitation, and loss of power have returned and now occur constantly. The failed component should still be available for inspection upon request. The issue was confirmed by Nissan personnel, although I completed the repair independently rather than paying the dealership repair cost. Prior to the failure, the vehicle showed symptoms including hesitation, intermittent power loss, and stalling beginning around 100,000 miles. These symptoms worsened over time until the vehicle completely shut down while driving. This appears to be a common issue affecting Nissan vehicles and creates a serious safety concern due to the risk of sudden engine shutdown while driving.

- #11740348May 27, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The vehicle experienced failure of the HVAC heater flap/blend door mechanism on the driver’s side. Specifically, the plastic gear assembly broke at its mounting point, causing the gear to spin freely and preventing the airflow door from opening and functioning properly. As a result, the driver’s side heating and airflow system no longer operated correctly. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. Because the manufacturer does not sell the small gear component separately, I was forced to obtain a custom 3D-printed replacement part in order to restore operation. This defect created a safety concern because the inability to properly control heat and airflow can affect windshield defrosting and cabin visibility during cold or wet weather conditions. Reduced defrost performance can impair driver visibility and increase the risk of an accident. The problem was confirmed during inspection and repair. Accessing the failed gear required extensive disassembly of the vehicle’s front dashboard area and HVAC system components. The repair process was extremely labor-intensive for what is essentially a small plastic gear failure. Prior to complete failure, the HVAC system began making abnormal clicking/grinding noises and airflow operation became inconsistent. Eventually, the gear mounting point completely failed, causing the actuator gear to spin freely without moving the heater flap. This appears to be a common problem affecting Nissan Rogue vehicles, particularly involving the weak plastic HVAC gear and mounting design. The manufacturer does not offer the individual failed gear as a replacement part, which unnecessarily increases repair complexity and cost.

Vehicle experienced hesitation and intermittent delayed acceleration beginning around 2018, with symptoms progressively worsening over time. In the past week, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle began experiencing significant acceleration delay from stops, including engine revving without proper acceleration for approximately 5-10 seconds. In some cases, the vehicle would not accelerate until the engine was turned off and restarted. Vehicle also became unusually loud during acceleration. Independent repair shop retrieved DTC codes P0776 (Pressure Control Solenoid B Performance/Stuck Off) and P1715 (Input Speed Sensor Primary Speed). Research identified Nissan Technical Service Bulletin NTB15-086d describing these exact codes and symptoms, including hesitation and reduced power in 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue vehicles equipped with CVT transmissions. Condition creates a safety risk because vehicle may fail to accelerate properly when entering traffic, crossing intersections, or merging. Problem has been reproduced multiple times and confirmed by repair shop diagnostic codes. Vehicle has approximately 131,954 miles.

I purchased a 2023 Nissan Rogue from Bella Nissan in Union City in September 2025. The dealership failed to disclose to me that there was an open recall on my vehicle. Several weeks later, the car shut down on me while I was driving back to work from lunch, which was extremely dangerous as well as frightening. I missed half a day’s pay because I could not return to work. I had to return the car to the dealership where they blew off my concerns and initially did not want to give me a loaner car but I was adamant that they assess my car, fix it and give me a loaner car in the process. A pattern would emerge where they would tell me the engine damage had been fixed, and I would return the loaner only to have to bring the car right back the same day or several days later due to the car engine shutting down, every time while I was driving the car. The last time I had to return the car, I was able to look at the paperwork that was written regarding my car and it said the reason for me bringing back the car was a check engine check light that was on. When I spoke to my service technician to tell him that the writeup was inaccurate, he ignored me. I spoke with the general manager, Muhammad, and requested the dealership put me in another car and he told me he was unable to do that.He promised me that the dealership would fix the engine open recall and then I would not have any more issues. That was not the case because I have returned to the dealership multiple times to get the engine recall fixed; today 5-27-26 being the most recent time. Today my car was making loud noises and there was smoke – none of this has ever happened before and I don’t want the car to catch fire. I was not able to upload my videos of the car shutting down. I shouldn’t have had so many issues with a newly purchased car. I have video but was unable to upload it. I simply ask that Bella Nissan take back this damaged vehicle and put me in another comparable vehicle, which was my initial request.

While Driving on I-10 I drove threw a small dust devil doing 78 mph and the drivers side trim next to the window flew off. There were other vehicles behind me and beside me. I did notice the cars behind me slowed down. There was no waring before hand. no sound, no movement, nothing. The Vehicle was just under 6,000 miles. I took it to Las Cruces Nissan. Ordered the part. The parts guy informed me this has happened to other drivers in the past and the part is on back order.

Was driving up the interstate to work this morning. Before i got to my exit my rear window exploded. This was a huge safety risk as the noise alone caused me to jump and almost veer into a car in the lane beside me which created risk for myself, my dog and others in the vehicles beside and around me. I called Nissan today and was told i had to file it on my insurance. I did call Highway Patrol and have a report issued and there was no sign of damage on what was actually left remaining in the rear hatch. There were no warning lights or errors prior to the incident, and the vehicle just had a State Inspection less that 6 months ago.

While driving on a parkway, the back rear window just suddenly exploded. I had a minor child sitting in the back seat and wife in the front passenger seat. When the sound of the explosion happen we thought we got hit with a rock or someone shot at the vehicle. I had to take the next exit to get off the road since it is raining and it was too dangerous to pull over on the side. I called to make a police report was told no report can be made. No warnings or signs just a sudden explosion.
