SummaryTECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: SERVICE ACTION: AVN 5.0 WIDE NON-RESPONSIVE RADIO ICON (AM, FM, SXM) (SA582) - This bulletin provides information to update the software on 5th Generation AVN wide on certain 2023-2024MY Kia vehicles (refer to model list on page 3) to remedy a ‘non-responsive’ or ‘inoperative’ radio (FM, AM, SXM, etc.) concern. The affected AVN unit on the vehicles may not respond when pressing the ‘RADIO’ hard key/button on the AVN unit or when selecting the ‘RADIO’ icon on the AVN menu screen. Also, a warning sound accompanied by a ‘Slippery road ahead. Drive carefully’ or ‘Uneven road ahead. Drive carefully’ warning can be displayed on the instrument cluster. The current AVN software causes the warning sound and message to repeat approximately every ten (10) seconds, if the vehicle is not in motion, in ‘PARK’ or driving on even surfaces.

This bulletin provides information to inspect and, if necessary, replace the brake tube(s)/line(s) for leakage and also apply additional anti-corrosion material to the underbody components on certain 2014-2017MY Forte and Forte Koup (YD) vehicles produced from November 7, 2012 through April 19, 2017 and originally sold or currently registered in one of the 28 states where heavy amounts of road salt are used.The 28 states where heavy amounts of road salt are used are: AK, CT, DC, DE, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SD, UT, VT, WI and WV. Brake line corrosion can occur due to a combination of environment conditions and lack of proper underbody maintenance. Brake line corrosion can occur on vehicles in states where heavy amounts of road salt are used if the materials used for ice/snow removal are not regularly flushed from the underbody of the vehicle. If this condition occurs, customers may experience low brake fluid level that can result in gradually increasing soft brake pedal feel and/or Brake Fluid Warning Light illumination.

This bulletin provides information to install a Theft Deterrent Ignition Cylinder Protector on certain 2010-2022MY Kia vehicles outlined on page 15, which may not have been equipped with an immobilizer and whose Integrated Body Control Unit (IBU) / Body Control Module (BCM) are not able to receive the Anti-Theft Software Logic upgrade under CS2301/02/03/04/05/06/07/08/09 TSBs. In an effort to help prevent thefts of Kia vehicles that are not equipped with an immobilizer, a protective cover will be permanently affixed to the ignition cylinder. This Theft Deterrent Ignition Cylinder Protector prevents the removal of the key lock cylinder thereby preventing access to the ignition tumbler.
