- #11621743October 24, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I purchased the car on 10/07\2024, the dealer said there was a recall and I assumed it was for this issue: When I fill the tank it shoots fuel all over the place. Ive tried different gas stations but it doesn't help, it still shoots or spills fuel all over the place. I checked online and this seems to be a known problem caused by the ethanol in the fuel reacting with a check valve. HAVING FUEL SHOOT OUT AT YOU EVERY TIME YOU FILL THE CAR IS DANGEROUS!!!

The vehicle gears slipped into neutral but back to drive without assistance on my part. Once at a stop sign when I resumed driving. Once turning a corner. Once getting ready to back up. / I took it to have the transmission fluid level checked and it checked out ok. There have been no transmission recalls reported on the 2012 Jeep Liberty. The pan and filter had had a leak and was replaced a couple of weeks before this slippage happened

Rear control arms rusted on both sides. One side cracked almost completely through. Mechanic confirmed close to failure which would cause loss of control of vehicle. In 2017 this model was recalled for this danger but only through model year 2007. Appears same defective part was used in this model year (2008). No warning lights of problem. Observed myself and mechanic confirmed problem.

At approximately 6:30 am 9/25/2024, I was transporting a friend to her home in a neighboring city. After ten minutes of travel, I exited a four lane bridge. As I slowed and set up for traffic negotiations, We heard a bang, like maybe tire blowout, I initiated a full stop to safety, disembarked vehicle to find that; THE RIGHT FRONT BALL JOINT HAD EXPERIENCED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE! Thus, the tire was sliced the tire mount rim was deeply grooved. Had vehicle towed to my home. It is in the condition left by the towing company. So, I called my neighborhood dodge boys and wàs assured that "they were not obligated not interested in repairing this near calamity, for the "RECALLED LOWER BALL JOINT COMPONENTS WERE DEALT WITH IN 2006.. TOO MANY YEARS HAVE PASSED FOR THIS EVENT TO BE REPAIRED BY RECALL OR WARRANTY". OK THEN, HOW ABOUT THE AIRBAG OPEN RECALL AT THE STEERING WHEEL.. REPLY, NO. NOTHING MISSED OR ELIGIBLE. Well, that's it.. Thanks for the venting space. And seriously, thank you for what you do.

The airbag light came on and the computer indicated it's the clock spring. I know that this is a safety issue as I've had the same issue with a previous car in which it was recalled.

[XXX] My son’s 2004 jeep liberty with 90k miles was towed to Andy Mohr Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram4505 W 96th St Indianapolis, IN 46268 by Cooks. I requested the vehicle be towed bc at approximately 530am i was driving the vehicle in the parking lot and turned right out of the parking lot in order to pull to a stop sign. Shortly after turning the wheel to the right I heard grinding that got progressively worse as I continued to coast to the stop sign. Then i heard a loud noise a and couldn’t move the vehicle. The tire fell off and I got out and fluid was leaking from vehicle. I researched recall for this vehicle and there were several regarding ball joints and knuckles rusting and breaking. I called the dealership days after it was towed and Spoke with Landon (sales) @935am he noted there was a Recall on ball joints 9/12/2006 and he said he would print the document he will review notes pass to Corey (service) and I should get a call back the following Monday. I never heard back. I called the dealership to follow up on status of recall and repairs. I never received an any confirmation that any research was done on the recall but I did approve the repairs. However I continue to find so much information on problems with this issue . I would like to be reimbursed for the repairs. The car was a gift from my son’s grandmother and was in immaculate condition despite being older vehicle she rarely drove it as the mileage reflected. - #11601807July 13, 2024EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS, EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL
I install an after market right side tail light assembly on my Jeep liberty, light is “plug and play” during check out I found the whole light assembly was improperly wired so I sent back to Amazon and ordered another from a different supplier when I received it, it was manufactured by the same company Eagle Eyes auto lamps. The safety issue that were experienced The tail light was on the bright element of the light bulb, the brake light was on the dim side of the same bulb The turn signal was the on the dim side of the bulb showing up not any brighter than a side marker light (very dim) Finally the reverse light was also wired on the dim side of the bulb and does not illuminate what’s behind the vehicle when backing up Both items have a Carparts.com inc label on them I called to talk to their technical department at 866-529-0412 to make them aware of the of the problem, however the customer service representative would not put my call through to the technical team. Both tail light I received acted the same and would have made my jeep dangerous to be on the road, my old tail light works properly just has a cosmetic crack and will be replaced with oem part already ordered

I PURCHASED THIS JEEP 2 YRS AGO. DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ISSUES WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. I USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE THE OTHER DAY AND THE JEEP KEPT ROLLING AND I WAS PARKED ON A LOW INCLINE HILL AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. I WENT ONLINE AND SAW THIS WAS A MAJOR ISSUE. CONTACTED CHRYLSER THEY SAID THEY ONLY WORK ON 2010 MODELS. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND I'M SURE THEY ARE OTHER OLDER MODELS WITH SAME ISSUE. HOW CAN A SO CALLED REPUTABLE COMPANY NOT TAKE CARE OF THEIR ISSUE NO MATTER HOW OLD MODEL IS. THEY CLAIM BRAKES ARE SELF-ADJUSTING NO SO.

- #11573134February 21, 2024TIRES:SIDEWALL
While driving at speed (~70 mph) on the Interstate, while on a straightaway, the vehicle began to sway as if being pushed by wind or like being passed by a semi truck. The swaying continued for 10 to 20 seconds before the rear passenger tire sidewall suffered a sudden catastrophic failure which made steering the vehicle very difficult. I had not struck any significant road debris prior to this incident or taken the vehicle off-road since purchasing the tires. The vehicle was able to stop in the breakdown lane without losing control. There were no injuries or other incidents as a result of the tire failure. The driver replaced the tire with a spare. The tire repair shop replaced the failed tire under the manufacturers warranty. Approximate miles on the failed tire - ~5000 miles Length of service - < 4 months Tire Size - P 235 / 70 R 16
