Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Sonata vehicles. A damaged check valve can allow air to enter the fuel tank, causing it to expand and contact hot exhaust components, melting the tank.
Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Santa Fe, Sonata, Veloster N, 2022 Santa Cruz, Elantra N, and Kona N vehicles. The vehicle's "fail-safe" limited-mobility drive mode may be impaired, when prompted by a transmission oil pump malfunction, which can result in a complete loss of drive power.
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Santa Fe and Sonata vehicles equipped with 2.5L turbocharged engines. Fuel may leak at the pipe connection between the high-pressure fuel pump and fuel rail.
The fuel tank assembly became pressurized with compressed air due top worn purge control system check valve. This caused the tank to deform and the deformation of the tank led to the fuel pump being pushed out and the back seat of the car was completely unattached and no longer secured. There was a strong presence of gas smell in the car as well. The check engine light came on and the car began to drive poorly. It was taken directly to a Hyundai dealership where it remains as of today. This could have resulted in the car catching on fire and potentially killing everyone in the car. My [XXX] daughter and 2 friends was driving the car from Louisiana to Mississippi when this occurred. The dealership in MS told her she needed to call and find someone to come and get her because the car was not safe to drive. My daughter was stranded in another state and had a college friend come and get them since I did not have a car and I was in Louisiana. After several hours her friend was able to pick them up which she remained stranded in MS for an additional 4 days. I had to get a friend to meet them halfway and bring her home because the dealership said there was nothing they could do to assist with transportation. This occurred on [XXX]. My car remains at this dealership in MS with only the testing to say the gas tank test failed and the car could not be driven. I was told Hyundai would offer a buyback on my vehicle because the repair was costly and time consuming. I have not been reimbursed for my transportation expenses through Uber as of today. I was told I could rent a car and they would reimburse my expense after I submitted a receipt and waited several weeks to process and then at least 2 weeks for the payment to clear. Either way I have received nothing. There was not any warning and the dash lights and poor engine running all happened at once. She drove straight to the dealership on [XXX]. We have not been treated fairly with this situation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S

The passenger compartment climate control blower motor circuit suffered a severe thermal overload. The terminal overheated, shorted out, and physically melted the primary engine wiring harness (Part #91400-L0051) inside the main fuse block connector housing while the vehicle was operating. This caused an immediate smoke/fire hazard in the cabin and a total loss of window defogging and climate control functionality. This structural breakdown is directly tied to the electrical failures documented in Hyundai TSB #WTY037 / 25-EE-002H.

RECALL REMEDY FAILURE AND MANUFACTURER COERCION My Certified Pre-Owned 2022 Hyundai Sonata Limited has been held completely out of service at an authorized Hyundai facility since June 2, 2026, due to severe fuel tank expansion under active NHTSA Safety Recall 25V-796 (Hyundai Campaign 286).The dealership confirmed that the defective expanding plastic fuel tank ballooned with enough force to structurally warp and buckle the unibody center floor pan and frame rails. Rather than providing a safe, timely remedy under federal recall guidelines, Hyundai Corporate and the dealership are attempting to coerce me into an unfair, non-statutory "voluntary trade-in" that simply pays off my remaining loan balance ($22,000) while completely wiping out the $9,000 in cash equity ($3,000 down payment and $6,000 in monthly payments) I have invested into the car. Upon rejecting this predatory trade-in offer, the manufacturer immediately threatened an additional 6 to 8-week delay to attempt a massive structural frame and unibody pull, which would bring the total out-of-service time to over 90 to 110 cumulative days. Furthermore, the dealership is actively withholding the internal diagnostic write-ups and structural alignment prints from me. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this recall remedy failure. Hyundai is using extreme delays (90+ days) and structural frame threats to force consumers to abandon their financial equity rather than issuing lawful, purchase-price repurchases for vehicles deemed structurally unsafe due to a manufacturing defect. I can't provide any documents as they have refused being able to provide me with any. Was told I would be emailed a copy from the dealership several times and they never end up sending over any information.
