I own a 2019 Honda HR-V that has been consistently maintained at Honda dealerships, including proactive transmission fluid changes every 30,000–40,000 miles. At approximately 104,700 miles, during a routine maintenance visit, the dealer diagnosed a failing CVT transmission. Technicians identified metal debris in the transmission, indicating internal deterioration. This condition is consistent with Honda Technical Service Bulletin 21-047, which acknowledges CVT-related issues in 2016–2019 HR-V models and provides extended coverage for affected vehicles. However, my vehicle was deemed ineligible for coverage because the failure was identified 27 days after the 7-year in-service deadline. Given that transmission deterioration is progressive, it is likely the issue began within the coverage period. Despite this, Honda declined to provide any goodwill assistance. I was quoted approximately $11,000 for the repair. This issue also raises safety concerns. A failing transmission can result in loss of power, hesitation, or inability to accelerate, particularly when merging into traffic or crossing intersections. These conditions increase the risk of an accident, especially if failure occurs unexpectedly while driving. This failure occurred despite proper and proactive maintenance and at a mileage where a transmission failure would not typically be expected.

My drivers seat creeks when I get in and out of the vehicle. Also the drivers seat doesn’t stay elevated over time. I pump the seat up before I enter the vehicle to my desired level that is comfortable for me. However going on long drives the seat slowly goes back down again. The next day would often feel like I am sitting out the floor on the count of the seat goes all the way down all by itself, and without manually adjusting it. I never had a vehicle that did this. It seems the seats are not very good quality and are prone to failure. The drivers and passengers seats are all manual, none are powered in this vehicle.

The tires on this car are 215-55-R17 94 V, they were purchased through priority tire in September 2024 they were mounted by Mavis Tire in Lockport Illinois on April 28, 2026 while driving on the Illinois Tollway system at 7:30 in the morning the right rear tire started making a loud noise and then a pop sound. Where I proceeded to get over to the shoulder to get over to the shoulder. There was rubber trail all the way along the shoulder, where I pulled over from the tire after changing the tire and putting on the donut, I noticed a split in between the treads and the whole inner sidewall of their tire had blown out these tires were purchased as a set and when I got home, I noticed that three of the four tires were manufactured in 2023 and this tire in 2022. What concerns me is a week before this Card did a trip to Minnesota with a [XXX] grandson in the backseat. My cars are maintained meticulously, and these tires had an approximately 16,000 miles on them. I’ve never been XXX years of driving. Had a tire blowout like this. I contacted priority tire, which told me all they could do is try to help with contacting GT Radial as they are a third-party seller. I have pictures of the tire or it looks like the tire was almost destroyed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NCDS/CDSP Statement of Claim Case Reference (Honda): XXX Vehicle: 2026 Honda HR-V | VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 1,227 Description of Dispute: I am seeking reimbursement of $1,200 for the repair of a manufacturing defect. On [Date], only six weeks after delivery, the rear spoiler with light assembly (Part# 74950-3W0-A11) detached and flew off the vehicle during normal driving. Evidence of Manufacturer Defect: Professional Inspection: I presented the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership. After a physical inspection and photographic documentation, the dealer determined the failure was a manufacturer defect. They verified the condition of the mounting points and proactively ordered the replacement part under warranty. Arbitrary Denial: A Honda District Manager denied the claim via email without ever physically inspecting the vehicle. The denial cited "probable outside influence" but provided no engineering report, inspection notes, or factual evidence to support this conclusion. Legal Presumption: Under the California Song-Beverly Act and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the burden is on the manufacturer to prove misuse or "outside influence" for a failure occurring at 1,227 miles. A factory-installed component detaching at this mileage under normal use is a "nonconformity" to the express warranty as a matter of law. Attempts to Resolve: I opened a case with American Honda (Case #XXX). Despite the dealer’s initial findings and my documentation of the failed mounting points, Honda has refused to honor the 3-Year/36,000-Mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. FULL CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE CVT BELT IN THE TRANSMISSION, A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HONDA HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR FOR UP TO 150K MILES AND OR 7 YEARS FROM PURCHASE (THAT LETTER WAS NEVER MAILED TO MY HOUSE, IT WAS FOUND AFTER THE FACT WHILE LOOKING FOR THE TITLE AT A FAMILY MEMEBER'S HOUSE. THE CVT BELT FAILED AT 189,837 MILES AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 80 MPH AS POSTED ON TEXAS HWY130 WHICH POSED A HUGE SAFETY RISK DUE TO THIS HWY'S SPEED, AND HEAVY TRACTOR TRAILER ROUTES WITH NO WARNING, THIS WAS NOT DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR, THE 2016 HONDA HRV IS KNOWN FOR THIS ISSUE. TOOK IT TO HONDA IN ROUND ROCK, TX, WHERE THEY CONFIRMED VIA DIAGNOSTIC TESTING IT WAS IN FACT THE DEFCET KNOWN, BUT HONDA CORP REFUSED ANY TYPE OF GOODWILL ASSISTANCE GIVEN ITS "TOO FAR OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY" (THE WHOLE POINT OF A GOODWILL EXCEPTION IS BEING OUTSIDE THE PARAMETERS) MY FAMILY HAS OWNED HONDAS FOR OVER 25 YEARS, AND THEY DISREGARDED THE BRAND LOYALTY COMPLETLY.

My husband and I were driving down the road on the way home from dinner in the rain when the car suddenly started braking very hard but very quickly. I thought at first that my husband had braked a little too hard all of a sudden, but he said he did not. Before he could tell me that though the dash started lighting up. Brake system failure, electronic parking brake failure, hill start assist problem, power-steering problem, and many others - pretty much every safety sensor that could come on. I then worried we would not be able to brake when needed, but luckily we made it home. As soon as we were able to this morning, my husband brought it to the Honda Service to be checked out. We have to heard from them yet other that $230 to diagnose the problem. We were very lucky there were not others close to us when it happened. This could have been a very serious wreck if we were in traffic or going an even higher speed on the interstate(which we had been doing earlier).

The forward camera mounted on the windshield failed which means all of the advanced safety features will not work that is a safety hazard when you rely on these systems. Looking on the internet, this seems to be a common problem and is very expensive to fix. There are multiple warning lamps that appear. They are Brake System, Auto High-Beam Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, & Adaptive Cruise Control Problem. I don't understand how there are recalls when the rear camera does not work but not the front camera. They are both safety features.

Since purchasing my 2022 Honda HR-V in 2024, I have experienced ongoing unintended or “phantom” braking while driving at highway speeds with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and the Collision Mitigation Braking System activated. When a vehicle is traveling in an adjacent lane—most frequently on the right side—the dashboard displays an orange brake warning, and the vehicle abruptly brakes without driver input despite no obstruction in my lane. This issue occurs approximately four times per week, and the vehicle currently has about 75,000 miles. During each incident, I disengage adaptive cruise control using the steering wheel controls to regain manual control. Although no accidents or injuries have occurred, these sudden braking events have resulted in multiple near-miss situations and present a significant safety concern.

Started vehicle this morning and part of led digital dash cluster display (odometer, fuel, temperature, trip, miles) goes blank and wouldn't recover. Shut down and restarted and lcd display then had glitches where it wouldn't display correctly, partially incomplete. According to forums and Google searches, this is a known problem due to honda bad solder joints (also dealer admit on a post). Bad as mileage would not be recorded/updated during glitch. Need manufacturer repair/replace under recall due to possible federal issue.

- #11730358April 10, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The instrument panel with the fuel and mileage on it would go black or keep going back and forth to the original car code while I am driving. Next, the screen for my radio would shut down on me and restart itself while I am on the highway. Lastly, when I turn on my exterior lights at night, my interior lights that come on for me to see all the buttons went out for some of the buttons. The safety of myself and others was put at risk because the car could have shut down whenever someone was driving it. I took it to a Honda dealership and they did a diagnostic and the immediate attention result was Internal Electric Failure. But Honda Corporate declined to help me with repair assistance.

Dear American Honda Motor Co., Inc. ,I am writing to formally document my experience with a premature failure of the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) in my Honda HR-V. The vehicle was covered under the extended warranty program Honda implemented specifically for the known CVT issues affecting 2016–2020 model years. In On 3/10/26 the CVT failed at approximately 96,000 miles. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Honda dealership, where technicians confirmed premature belt deterioration and breakage. Prior to the failure, I had the vehicle serviced at the dealership for the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software update outlined in Honda Service Bulletin 21-047. During that visit, I reported a noticeable burning smell, which I now believe originated from the failing transmission belt. The dealership assured me there were no issues and stated that the software update had adjusted the gear ratio to reduce strain on the transmission. The vehicle was returned to me with no further action recommended. Subsequent communication with American Honda revealed that the company had been aware of widespread CVT belt issues in these model years. Rather than issue a full recall, Honda extended the powertrain warranty to 7 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurs first). My repeated attempts to escalate the matter with Honda Customer Service, including multiple requests for contact information for a regional manager, were unsuccessful. After several weeks of delays—during which my vehicle remained at the dealership for over 20 +days—Honda Corporate initially offered to cover a remanufactured CVT replacement at a cost of $4,500 to me. The dealership ultimately assisted by reducing my out-of-pocket expense to $2,900.I find it unacceptable that a vehicle with only 96,000 miles required a major transmission replacement costing nearly $3,000, especially after Honda had already acknowledged the defect through a technical service bulletin and an extended warranty. The dealership’s
