I was driving at highway speeds and my steering wheel started to "stick". It also started "sticking" when turning slightly. In order to stop the steering from sticking I had to make drastic steering adjustments. This puts not only myself but others at risk because it lessens the control I have of the vehicle. As this issue started happening more and more I took the vehicle to the dealership multiple times in order to find out and fix what the problem was. The dealership would never drive the car long enough to replicate the issue as it usually begins after driving for about 30 - 45 minutes.

The steering sticks when driving, particularly at highway speeds. Steering corrections are slow and difficult and cause over correction with potential loss of vehicle control.

Steering is stiff and sticky at high speeds when trying to make small adjustments while driving. I have read on car forums this is a common issue which requires complete replacement of the steering system. My safety is at risk driving this vehicle due to over correction and being unable to properly steer. It has not been inspected by a dealer. This issue appeared about a year ago. I noticed a very similar recall on 2022-2025 models and I think this is a systemic issue with Honda civics.

The steering wheel occasionally sticks and requires me to keep tugging at it to unstick it, then readjust the wheel again to straighten my car up on the road. On highway road trips I've taken (6 or so hours one way), it is an almost constant tug of the wheel for the whole drive. It happens both while driving straight and when going around curves.

Steering wheel feels like it locks up and is very difficult to move intermittently. Safety risk due to inability to steer correctly results in inability to effectively control vehicle. Problem has not been reported to dealer however has been noted by others with same year model vehicles. No warning lamps, messages, or symptoms appear.

Hello, I received a recall notification for my 2019 Honda Civic in May 2024. The recall notice states the fuel pump module may have been an improperly molded impeller. The recall is dated May 2024, I called the Markley Honda dealership in Fort Collins Colorado where I purchased the car and was told they did not have the parts yet. It is now mid October and I have called numerous times including yesterday to be told they still do not have parts. I am very concerned that this has not been fixed in a timely fashion. In the recall it states the car could stall during driving increasing risk of crash or injury. Thank you, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2023 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Steering is 'sticky,' making it difficult to make minor adjustments while driving. Each time any move is made with the steering wheel, it is like it has to 'break free' from being stuck. This happens almost all the time over 40-45 mph, regardless of the driving mode. The issue is getting worse the more I drive. Honda sites show no open recalls for my specific car. This 'Sticky Steering' issue is purportedly attributed to possible defects in STEERING GEAR BOX, WORM GEAR, WORM WHEEL, WORM WHEEL TEETH components. I will be addressing this safety issue with a local Honda dealer.

I got this car (2022 honda civic touring) as preowned a little over 2 months ago. It had 39k miles. I inspected the car and thought it looked perfect and so I got it. In getting it, i opted out on getting extended warranty for personal reason. However the car had 60 days dealer warranty. After several times driving it, i noticed that my arms get sore. I thought it was just the way it drives. I drove one of my friends car which is the same car same year and it just drives way smoother. Mine is really sticky. I have to really put effort into keeping the wheel straight. When i make slight turns, the wheel doesnt go back to going straight, it gets stuck, so i have to pull it again to go straight. I heard about the recall on this car about the steering. I brought it in to honda but they said that my car isnt affected by it and that my part was okay. Due to my schedule i was only able to bring it in until almost the dealer warranty expires. However, they said that the car was fine, that they didnt notice the issue ive been experiencing. They told me that it drove good and advised me to get an allignment done. By the time the allignment place was able to get me in, the warranty had already expired and so i was really hoping that the allignment would fix it. Unfortunately, it didnt not. My steering is still so stiff/sticky. I dont know what to do.

My Honda Civic's software for Apple CarPlay does not have an available update by Honda Corporation to allow functionality to use CarPlay Focus Driving settings to prevent receiving audio phone calls and ringing via the infotainment system speakers while driving and using apps such as Waze for navigation and/or iHeart radio for music. My safety while driving and the safety of others while I am driving is put at risk because while I am driving and using an app for music and/or navigation, my Honda Civic's infotainment system speakers may ring when my Apple iPhone receives a phone call from anyone, and this distracts my driving and may be unsafe. My Apple iPhone 14 has CarPlay Focus Driving software to allow me to prevent incoming phone calls while driving and connected to car Bluetooth or CarPlay. However, I cannot use this Focus Driving feature with my Honda Civic because Honda Corporation has not updated my Civic's infotainment system software to interface with my Apple iPhone 14 Focus Driving feature. I met my Honda dealership's service department staff, and they confirmed that there is no recall for my Honda Civic. They confirmed and showed me on my Civic's backup camera screen settings for Driving Focus that "Incoming calls will not be silenced while using CarPlay." I will upload this image/picture from my backup camera screen as a file for this discussion. The need for Honda Corporation to update their car infotainment system software to allow safety while driving is not unique to my 2024 Honda Civic.

When going above 20 mph the vehicle has an issue where the steering wheel will become stuck. Going around a turn you can let go of the wheel with it turned and the wheel will not go back to center. You have to physically turn the wheel the opposite direction to make the steering unstuck. The problem becomes worse the faster you are driving. On the interstate it becomes difficult to maintain the vehicle in the center of the lane because you have to fight the wheel to unstick it so your vehicle makes sudden moves. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. It only has 89,000 miles and I've never owned a vehicle develop an issue like this with relatively low miles.
