on [XXX], i remote started my vehicle about 10 minutes prior to leaving work. when i left and walked out to my truck i opened the driver side door and noticed smoke in the vehicle and an odd smell. upon looking around the truck i heard a loud pop and the passenger side of the rear sliding back glass shattered. upon further investigation this has been an ongoing issue with gm trucks and even 159,000 have been recalled in Canada and there has been no recall issued in the United States. the major safety concern is that in the back seat of my vehicle i have two car seats for each of my toddler aged sons. i am just thankful that neither one of them were in the vehicle when this happened. i brought the vehicle to the dealership and they told me that there was indeed a short in the wiring going to the back sliding window and defroster but there was nothing they could do other than replace the glass. On Feb. 27, 2024 approx. 04:15 left for gym and work. When arrived at gym and began to park, I put truck in reverse to check back line and noticed I was looking at my license plate. I then put into park and got out of truck and shut tailgate. Thinking not much about it, I must've touched the button the night before and hit a bump on way into work. Since I have a toneau cover, it fits pretty tight and I typically have to pull it down by hand. I heard about recall that day after I got to work from co workers. Checked my VIN, but did not come up as one of the tailgate recalls. March 7, 2024- Left again for gym and work approximately same time in AM. As I was driving into gym and work, another car coming up close behind me wanted to pass. The car then suddenly backed off to a considerable distance. As I got to gym and put in reverse to check my back line, I noticed I was looking at my license plate again. I know that I did not touch a button either on FAB or tailgate. because I park in garage and leave FAB in a secure place where it can not be pressed. If tailgate was down in my garage, it would have stopped garage door from opening and/or damaged my garage door. In either instances, I did not get a sensor alarm going off on my dash for "tailgate down", If its even equipped with that alarm.

While driving I heard “sizzle” sound coming from the rear tailgate sliding window. I had my rear defroster on which I immediately turned off and the sound stopped. I got home 2 minutes later, parked the truck then an hour later when I was about to go back out to pickup my son I noticed the drivers side glass panel had shattered. I’m now aware of this issue under Customer Satisfaction Program [XXX] “Rear Window Defroster Thermal Event” and apparently this was a GM recall in Canada but not the US. I will take it to the dealership tomorrow and know they are going to say it’s my problem but that’s such [XXX]. Hoping they can cover this cost. I’m listing this here as a form of documentation…unsure if this institution can help. Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The harness that hooks to bumper plug for trailer lighting is not completely water tight. Allows water in and creates buildup that weakens the connection as well as allows the plug wire connection to snap out and push out from the pin. Further inspection it was causing a short in the system. I attempted to clean and put some-electric grease on the plug to help clean it but then relaized 3 pins were broken and pushed back.

Alignment Cam Guide Pins sheared off while driving on highway. Alignment went all over the place and car was drifting side to side. Also, steering wheel spun a quarter turn while car was not turning but still driving on highway. Almost caused me to crash. GMC does not want to acknowledge the issue or allow me to file a warranty claim. Car could not be driven to GM dealership safely and had to be repaired at closest shop

Multi-Function Tailgate keeps opening due to malfunction in tailgate switches. Going down the highway and suddenly the tailgate opens and materials in bed of truck are at risk of flying out the back. It is my understanding that they have recalled GMC Sierra 2500 models and above. Why not the 1500 GMC Denali model which is the same exact tailgate?

While unlocked, passenger doors go through unlocking phase, door locks click, parking lights flash and tail gate comes open. Along with this, an electric motor sound comes from underneath the vehicle (pre start fuel pressurization sequence?) that goes on and on, doors locked, or unlocked, that, left unchecked, drains the battery. Must be hooked to battery recharger round the clock.

Back up lights and Tail light problems My Back up lights turn on when the headlights are turned on and do not shut off unless the headlights are off. Also, recently, the rear tail lights were burning out early and would last only two weeks. The source of the problem seems to be in the fuse box. There is no short in the system. It appears to be in the fuse box of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. Bulbs were replaced and burned out quickly. Replacement parts are expensive and this problem exists on other Chevrolet and GMC trucks.

While driving down a road in the moring hours, lost complete power and Truck shutdown. Thank God, I was able to pull off the road, since it was a Sunday Moring. Truck was not able to restart. If this had happened on a busy interstate. My wife and I could have been hurt or killed. Had the truck towed to dealer. Replaced the Transfer Case Module. Still don't know if what they put in truck was correct since mine was different than what was shown on computer specifications.

Hello, I purchased my 2024 GMC 3500 AT4 Seirra late October 2023. Since the purchase date, I have been informed by motorist while at intersections my tailgate was down. I thought I was doing something wrong. On 3/3/2024 I was preparing to wash my truck and noticed my front amber lights were on surrounding my headlights. the vehicle was off, and my keys were in the house. Then my tailgate opener activated on at least 10 - 12 times. The tonneau cover is tight so the tailgate can need assistance opening. Nevertheless, the tailgate has opened on a number of occasions and my two front amber lights came on at least once. I reported this to my dealership on [XXX]. they said my truck has not been recalled yet but to watch this and if it progresses to call them. I noticed a small dent in the top rail of the tailgate on [XXX]. I have yet to put anything in the bed of the truck or even install a hitch in the receiver. I believe the tailgate had to be bumped when it was down by another vehicle, and this is absolutely related to the tailgate malfunction. since I haven't used the bed of the truck. Moreover, I feel GMC should be held responsible for the repair or replacement of my tailgate. Regards, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Back window frame crack led to water intrusion which flooded electric module controlling speedometer and adaptive settings. Extremely unsafe driving with faulty electrical components unknown to me. Insurance and Dealership told me this is a common GMC occurrence. Cost is near $10,000 to make truck drivable.

I purchased my truck (15 GMC Sierra z71 4x4) with around 122,000 miles on it. I would be owner #2. Truck ran great. Around 150,000 miles I noticed my truck's transmission start to jerk while accelerating from gear to gear. No engine light ever appeared. Problem stopped. A few days later while dropping my daughter off at school, my truck wouldn't go passed 35 mph. I had to put the shifter in manual and shift to third gear. Other gears would just rev the rpm's to 4 or 5. Since I didn't want to put my family, me and others on the road at risk. I parked my truck and started driving my other vehicle. A few months went by, and my other vehicle had a flat tire, I had to drive my truck to work. On the way home from work, my truck started acting up again, jerking while accelerating. speedometer would go up however truck didn't move. I had to pull over quickly so I wouldn't be broken down in the traffic lane. I turned the ignition off and waited five minutes and started the truck up. I was able to make it home. At this time the engine soon light came on. I ran my scanner on my truck and code P0700 TCM was the only code showing. I had a Gmc dealer look at my truck and stated I would need a new transmission. I have done many months if not almost close to a year of research with results showing that transmission problems just what I was experiencing are a common problem with 2014-2019 chevy and Gmc / Silverado pickups with transmission 6L80. I dropped my truck off at another transmission shop just yesterday 3/3/24 and the results today were I need a new transmission. Torque converter issues. The shop stated that they repair / rebuild almost three chevy / gmc trucks like my truck a week with the same transmission problem. I still owe on my truck and shouldn't have to pay almost 6K for a transmission that is known to be an issue from the start of factory build. I own many older model gm / chevy vehicles and only had one other issue with one which also had a known recall issue.

I walked from my garage to the back of my truck to the driver door a drove away. At my destination the tailgate was open and my chainsaw was sitting there. Absolutely no way I could walk past my tailgate and not see the Stihl chainsaw looking at me and drive off without closing it first. I’ve owned the truck 1 week at this point.
