The tailgate unlatched while driving. This caused the paint on the tailgate to rub off on the jack of the trailer that I was hauling. This could have caused items in the back of the pickup to fall out onto the road. There is a current recall for 2021-2023 GMC Sierra's with the same issue, but my 2024 GMC Sierra is not included in the recall. The vehicle is going to be inspected tomorrow by the a body shop. There were no lights or messages prior to the failure.

GM refuses to fix a known design flaw in the back sliding glass frame on 2020_24 gmc sierra trucks. This issue will generate toxic mold as large quantities of water enter the cabin and can be extremely harmful for certain individuals allergic to mold. GM knows about this issue and tried to secretly advise techs via TSB 18-na-383 to apply sealant on the frame and if customer returns to replace frame. However they do not want to do this outside the 3 year warranty. The back glass on a truck is not a serviceable item.

When snowing the headlights freeze over. Have to stop on the side. Of the road and clean them off. They do not get hot enough to melt snow to be able to drive safe at night.

Vehicle caught fire minutes after remote starting. Fire appears to have started on firewall on the left side. We were about to take our kids to school vehicle could have easily caught our house and other property on fire. We did have the check engine light come on occasionally but it would always turn back off, vehicle only had about 12000 miles. Also none of the outlets inside the vehicle never worked.

I was at a stop light and heard a loud noise like a shotgun blast. I felt a concussion hit me in the chest. I thought I had been shot at, then thought I was possibly rear ended but nobody was behind me. I noticed the airbag light was on, the hazards were on and I couldn't shut them off, and the seatbelts were, and still are all locked. But no airbag deployed. There was a smell in the cab that vaguely smelled like a cross between gunpowder and ozone. It's fortunate that I was not at freeway speed.

- #11580026March 29, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
My vehicle inadvertently locks the rear tires at highway speeds and then releases and drives. In some instances it may brake several times causing the tires to burn rubber for a short distance causing rear traffic to either swerve to avoid rear ending me and in a couple instances causes the rear following traffic to abruptly change lanes to avoid rear ending me

The radio volume went up to max an it's own twice, both times it almost caused a crash. Nothing would make to volume turn down, not the radio volume dial or the buttons on the steering wheel. I had to pull over, stop and turn off the truck.

My tailgate unexpectedly open as I was driving down the road. (2021 GMC 2500 Denali Sierra) This was the second time this has happened and lost things driving down the road. (3 propane tanks and a small grill the first and then an air compressor the second time) Both times it happened I opened and closed the tailgate with the vehicle running. Both times I was unaware of tailgate opening and did not notice until I got home. The first time it happened I thought it was operator error but after this weekend, I looked into this and see there was a recall on it this month. I still felt it was necessary to report incidents.

I have a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 with a power 6-point tailgate. The inner tailgate has been spontaneously opening for some reason. It seems the electric lock mechanism trips. This could case the contents of my truck bed to fall out. This issue is a known issue for GMC Sierras and a recall has been issued for the 2500's and 3500's but for some reason not the 1500's even though the tailgate is the exact same. I have an appointment to have the issue serviced at dealership, but since there is no current recall they will not cover the expense.

I purchased a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali trading in the same 2022 version [XXX]. I would find the tailgate down after stopping. It became habit to make sure the tailgate was latched. Unfortunately, while pulling a trailer, the tailgate opened again while driving causing me to have to replace the top portion of the multipro tailgate. The new tailgate would be damaged a second time despite my efforts, but traded it in for the 2023 as it was. This continued but more often with the 2023. Two weeks ago I was pulling my trailer driving from San Diego to Las Vegas and we were flagged down by another car on [XXX], and we realized the tailgate had opened. We were thankful he did because had anything fallen out, we were super concerned it could cause havoc with the traffic that followed. We put a bungy cord on it. The next morning driving the trailer 4 blocks but knowing we would make a u-turn, and a sharp right turn, I opened the tonneau cover so I could clearly see the tailgate, I was pulling the trailer, and I had my eye in the rear view mirror. Lo and behold, the light turned green, I paid attention to traffic, and I made the uturn. I felt the tailgate being crushed. This time, it took out the entire tailgate, and caused moderate damage to what was also crushed on my trailer. The notion that these tailgates are not opening while driving is simply not true. I have experienced this not once, but twice. As if this cannot get worse, GM tells me my truck is not part of this recall. They so far have refused to give me the "fix" for it so I can fix on my own dime. And on top of that, my body shop told me the tailgate replacement is on back order for months with no idea when production for these will catch up. This one will cost $3300, my trailer $800, and the 2022 truck about $2800.00. Besides the obvious cost and aggravation, the bottom line is that it is a safety issue for other drivers. I am concerned.
