SSM 48537 - 2017-2019 F-Super Duty - 6.8L - Instrument Cluster Warning Indicators And/Or Radio Inoperative During Snow Plow Operation Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.8L gas engine may exhibit multiple warning indicators in the instrument panel cluster and/or inoperative radio during snow plow use. Battery state of charge is important to verify prior to any repairs. 12.72v to 12.8v is a fully charged battery. To assist with the investigation use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the OASIS report and include the following information: What brand of plow the vehicle is equipped with, If it's been equipped by the plow manufacturer's specifications, If other equipment is up-fitted on the vehicle, ambient temperature when the concern occurs, Engine RPM and MPH/KPH, and battery state of charge. Note the concern should be duplicated similar to customer use and ambient temperature.

Some 2015-2020 F-150 and 2017-2020 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a rear defroster may have factory installed or service replacement rear glass that uses rear defroster electrical terminals with a plastic overmolded cover. The rear glass defroster terminals are not serviceable and should not be removed or detached from the glass during diagnosis or repairs. If the rear glass defroster terminals are separated from the glass, the rear glass assembly must be replaced.

2020 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission at times may exhibit a normal skip shift upshifting and downshifting strategy. Typical examples are 1-3 or 3-5 upshift or a 6-4 coasting downshift. This is a normal characteristic and no repairs should be attempted for this condition. For more detailed information about the 10R140 skip gear shift strategy refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01 > Diagnosis and Testing.

Some 2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit a symptom of no ability to schedule a remote start event using the FordPass or Lincolnway app. If only the scheduling portion of the remote start system is not functioning, no repair attempts should be made to correct this condition. If the remote start system is not functioning using the key fob and/or the on-demand remote start function from FordPass or Lincolnway application, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-06 for further diagnosis. Do not attempt repairs at this time. Engineering is currently investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.

Some 2020 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 transmission may exhibit harsh upshifts between 1st and 5th gears. For vehicles with less than 200 miles (320 km) on the odometer, these harsh upshifts may be due to the transmission adaptive strategy not being fully adapted. The harsh upshifts are not detrimental to transmission operation or durability and upshift quality may improve as the vehicle is driven. If the vehicle does not have any illuminated warning indicators or diagnostic troubles codes (DTCs), do not perform any repairs at this time. Engineering is investigating. Monitor OASIS for updates.

This may be due to terminal fretting at the connector for the driver multi-contour seat module (SCMG) and passenger multi-contour seat module (SCMH). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the connectors and reroute the harness.

Summary
Some 2020 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with power release tailgate may continue to display a Check Tailgate Ajar in the IPC message center after the tailgate is closed. This may occur when the key is in the ON position and the tailgate is opened and closed while the vehicle is in a gear other than PARK. Cycling the key or pressing the OK button on the steering wheel will remove the Check Tailgate Ajar message. This is normal operation of the system and no repair attempts should be made to correct a condition. If a customer complaint is received that the Check Tailgate Ajar message does not go away after closing the tailgate, verify and advise the customer of normal operating characteristic.

This issue occurs when the SYNC 3 system has been previously modified using an aftermarket device to display the Ford GT welcome screen/HMI Theme. This may be due to condensation from the evaporator drain tube entering the vehicle through the drain tube seal. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to install an elbow on the evaporator drain tube to direct condensation away from the seal.
