SummarySome 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles built on or after 08-Nov-2021 may exhibit inoperative connected vehicle features, such as the activate button missing in FordPass, unable to connect wirelessly to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, or in-vehicle wifi hotspot unavailable and TCU diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U2100. This may be due to various software parameters in the TCU. To correct the condition, download and run the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) Configuration app on the latest level of the Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming use causal part number 14C708 and applicable labor times from Section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standard (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2021 F-150/Mustang Mach-E vehicles may display OTA Update Not Successful messages on the vehicle's center touchscreen. Also, when a software update is being performed on the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) using the FDRS, the center touchscreen may not indicate the APIM software is downloading when plugging a USB drive into the vehicle. This may be due to an APIM software concern. Inform customers that Ford is currently working on a solution for this condition that is to be released via the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) in March 2022. Inform the customer that they can continue to drive the vehicle and only need to schedule a follow-up appointment if they are still experiencing the OTA Update Not Successful message in April 2022 or if the APIM is not able to be updated via the FDRS. Monitor OASIS for updates.

SummarySome 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may intermittently exhibit doors unable to lock/unlock and/or difficult to open in freezing temperatures. This may be due to moisture from rain/snow entering the interior door latch lock indicator cable assembly. An updated interior door handle cable and door latch lock indicator cable assembly (front right side-15221A00 / front left side-15221A01; rear right side-1640180 / rear left side-1640181 ) has been released to prevent moisture intrusion. If this condition is experienced in freezing temperatures, the interior door handle cable and door latch lock indicator cable assembly should only be replaced, not the latch assembly. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-14. For claiming, use causal part: 15221A00, 15221A01, 1640180, or 1640181 and applicable labor operations in Section 12 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles built on or before 17-Mar-2021 may experience a lack of steering assist upon start-up along with a Steering Assist Fault message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U3000:96 and U3001:68 in the power steering control module (PSCM). This may be due to battery voltage below 8 volts when attempting to start the vehicle. Power steering assist will be restored when battery voltage is at or above 12 volts and the DTCs are cleared. Replacement of the PSCM is not necessary. To clear the DTCs using the FDRS, select and run the PSCM - Reset the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) application. Once cleared, cycle the ignition to verify normal system operation. If the DTCs return, refer to Workshop Manual Section 211-02 for normal diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 3504.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a discharged battery and/or no crank condition. This may be due to key off battery drain when the zone lighting power button is left enabled in the SYNC 4 display or the FordPass app. A discharged battery or a no crank condition may also occur if a rear door is difficult to close causing the door to not fully latch, resulting in a door ajar being detected.

Summary2021-2022 various Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1A01:93 stored in the telematics control unit (TCU). This may be due to various software parameters within the TCU. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the TCU operation, clear this DTC and no further repairs are recommended. If the DTC returns after being cleared or if the vehicle exhibits connectivity concerns with the TCU, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If set erroneously, this DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) TCU update in July 2022 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles built on or before 01-Feb-2021, 2017-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine, 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost or 5.0L engine, 2019-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.0L diesel engine may exhibit a high pitched squeal or whistle type noise from the engine compartment after the engine is shut off. This condition may be due to the air conditioning (A/C) low side system pressure exceeding the high side pressure resulting in equalization of A/C system pressures through the A/C compressor. An updated A/C compressor has been released to resolve this concern. For claiming, use causal part 19703 and applicable labor operations in Section 11 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit engine misfire concerns with or without DTCs. If diagnostics lead to ignition coil replacement, swap the ignition coil(s) between the misfired cylinder and a known good cylinder. Only replace the ignition coil if the misfire concern follows that particular ignition coil. If the misfire condition does not follow the coil, apply dielectric grease to the boot, reinstall the ignition coil in the original cylinder and continue normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-07C.
