Some 2021-2022 F-150 (non-Lightning) vehicles may experience the gear selector lever being stuck in the Park position with no diagnostic trouble codes and/or messages displayed in the instrument panel cluster or touchscreen. This may be due to a power cord being plugged into the pickup bed alternating current (AC) power outlet socket or the pickup bed AC power outlet socket cover being stuck open. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram various modules.

Summary
2020-2022 Explorer/Aviator and 2021-2022 F-150 hybrid vehicles equipped with a 10R80 MHT require the Transmission Strategy Download application in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) to be run after certain transmission or module repairs. The Transmission Strategy Download routine is failing in FDRS levels 32.5.3 and 32.5.4. The FDRS development team is working to resolve this in a future release of FDRS. In the meantime, uninstall FDRS from the computer using the select all function to remove all data and recordings. Reinstall the older FDRS version 31.6.5 using this url - http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/IDS/FDRS/FDRS_31.6.5.exe Once 31.6.5 is installed, download and run the Transmission Strategy Download application.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles built on or before 22-Mar-2022 at Dearborn Truck Plant or built on or before 11-May-2022 at Kansas City Assembly Plant and equipped with power tailgate release may exhibit a perceived inoperative power tailgate latch release function. This may be due to a change to the power tailgate release strategy after the body control module (BCM) has received a software update or the BCM has been replaced. When using the power tailgate release switch in the instrument panel, release switch on the tailgate, or the remote keyless entry (RKE) fob, the power tailgate release switch must be pressed 2 times (2x) within 3 seconds with the transmission in Park for the tailgate to release. If the power tailgate release is still inoperative, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-14 for normal diagnostics.

Some 2017-2022 Ford and Lincoln vehicle owners may experience a condition of missing authorization, command and control, battery charging details or phone-as-a-key setup buttons/selections in their FordPass or LincolnWay App. This condition is due to an error within the FordPass or LincolnWay App and not due to a concern on the vehicle. Verify that the customers FordPass or LincolnWay App is at the latest version. Replacement or reprogramming of the telematics control unit (TCU)/gateway module (GWM)/remote function actuator (RFA) will not resolve this condition. If the condition persists, utilize the FordPass Guides or Lincoln Way Concierge teams.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a condition where a front and/or crew cab rear door will not open from the exterior handle when the doors are unlocked or where the exterior handle seems blocked from reaching full travel (full stroke). This may be due to the engagement of the resettable inertia lock feature within the handle reinforcement mechanism. If this is the case, the mechanism can be reset to allow full handle function. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reset the inertia lock.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with DTC P2C44:00 and/or U061E:00 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to an issue with ground circuit GD132 or the auxiliary battery isolator. Perform Pinpoint Test I in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-06D and make sure the integrity of GD132 is carefully inspected and tested with the inclusion of G102, C146 and C1989C. Then perform the Auxiliary Battery Conditions(s) Test in WSM, Section 414-01, Pinpoint Test B. If no issues are found in Pinpoint Test I, GD132 and the auxiliary battery condition test passes, replace the auxiliary battery isolator per WSM, Section 414-01. For claiming, use causal part 14526 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Some 2018-2022 F-150, Expedition, Navigator, Transit, Aviator and Explorer vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0627, P025A, P025B, P00C6, P008A and/or U0109 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to an intermittent or partial disconnect of the harness to the fuel pump control module (FPCM) connector, connector pin push-outs, damaged pins/terminals, or loose/corroded grounds. Inspect FPCM connector, applicable grounds (F-150 - G401, Expedition/Navigator - G403, Transit - G401, 2018-2019 Explorer G302, 2020-2022 Explorer/Aviator - G407) and confirm FPCM connector (F-150 - C4336, Expedition/Navigator - C433, Transit - C433, 2018-2019 Explorer - C3239, 2020-2022 Explorer/Aviator - C4033) is fully seated prior to performing PC/ED diagnostics or replacing any components.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles built on or before 08-Mar-2022 and some 2021-2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or before 14-Mar-2022 equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may experience a coolant leak at the thermostat housing. This may be due to an incomplete weld on the thermostat housing which can leak during normal vehicle operation. To correct the condition, replace the thermostat housing using service part number ML3Z-8A586-C. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03. For claiming, use causal part 8A586 and applicable labor operations in Section 08 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Summary
Some 2022 F-150 Lightning vehicles not equipped with the remote park assist may experience an inoperative power frunk when using the exterior frunk button. Vehicles not equipped with the remote park assist feature will not have the front antennas for a passive key fob search. To open and/or close the frunk from only the exterior button on vehicles without remote park assist, the vehicle must be 2-stage unlocked. The frunk can also be opened by first pressing the instrument panel or SYNC screen button then using the exterior frunk button when the vehicle is single-stage or 2-stage unlocked. The key fob frunk button can be used to open and/or close the frunk regardless of lock status. Engineering is currently investigating a software update to enhance power frunk operation. A software update is anticipated late Q4 2022. Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.

Summary
2021-2022 various Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1A01:93 stored in the telematics control unit (TCU). This may be due to various software parameters within the TCU. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the TCU operation, clear this DTC and no further repairs are recommended. If the DTC returns after being cleared or if the vehicle exhibits connectivity concerns with the TCU, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If set erroneously, this DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) TCU update in July 2022 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.

Certain 2022 Model Year 3.5L GTDI Equipped Expedition, F-150 and Navigator Vehicles Heavy Grey/Blue Smoke and/or Oil from Exhaust Tailpipe(s). In some of the affected vehicles, itÃ¢ÂÂs possible the left-hand turbo oil drain hole was incompletely drilled during the engine block machining process. A vehicle built with an engine block that has an incomplete turbo oil drain hole may experience heavy gray/blue smoke with oil from the exhaust tailpipe(s), which could lead to a malfunction indicator light on the instrument panel cluster.

Some 2013-2023 Ford or Lincoln vehicles with modems activated through FordPass or LincolnWay may experience 12 volt battery drain symptoms when the customer uses non-Ford/Lincoln phone applications as an alternate channel to access vehicle commands such as door lock/unlock, remote start, vehicle location, etc. The battery drain may be caused by excessive calls for data through the vehicle network keeping it in an activated state. Recommend that the customer uninstall the app to ensure this is not contributing to battery symptoms experienced. Advise the customer that unaffiliated third-party app developers do not work directly with Ford to adhere to security, vehicle communication, and privacy requirements.

This may be due to metal contamination found on the axle wheel speed sensors or axle shaft tone ring. To correct the condition, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 205-02C to remove and clean rear axle housing tubes, axle shaft-tone ring and speed sensor.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may experience a Stow Work Surface Before Driving message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) even when the work surface is already in the stowed position. This can be corrected by replacing the work surface switch (ML3Z-16B572-A) that is now available separately. This switch allows the concern to be corrected without the replacement of the entire center seat back assembly. For claiming use causal part 16B572 and M-time.

2022 F-150 Lightning vehicles equipped with the Phone-as-a-Key feature will require a software update to enable this feature, which is expected to deploy to vehicles via an over-the-air (OTA) software update late summer of 2022. This feature is currently not enabled, and customers will not have the option to set up Phone-as-a-Key upon vehicle delivery. No repairs should be attempted at this time. To ensure vehicles can receive OTA software updates, customers should make sure their Vehicle Connectivity Settings are set to ON. Additionally, a software update for the remote function actuator (RFA) module is expected to be available in Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.

The 2022 F-150 Lightning Digital Ownes Manual states the power tailgate can be released by pressing and holding the 5 and 6 buttons simultaneously on the keyless entry keypad within 5 seconds of entering the factory or personal code. This keypad functionality is not available on the F-150 Lightning. No repairs should be attempted. The Digital Owners Manual will be revised via an over-the-air (OTA) software update which is expected to deploy in the 4th quarter of 2022. Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.
