Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 10R80 MHT transmission and built on or before 13-Oct-2022 may exhibit a rattle noise from the transmission area after a cold start in freezing temperatures. The noise typically goes away as the powertrain warms up. To improve the cold start noise condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM.

Summary
Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a condition of intermittent headlamp operation while the vehicle is OFF and have diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1533 stored in the body control module (BCM). This may be due to the internal logic within the headlamp switch. Switch and/or module replacement will not resolve this condition. Headlamp operation is not affected while the vehicle is ON. A new headlamp switch is currently under development to correct this condition. Let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment in January 2023, when parts are expected to become available. Follow up with the customer to confirm the appointment once OASIS is updated with the repair information.

This article supersedes TSB 21-2205 to update the vehicles and vehicle model years affected. 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles with 2.7L, 3.5L EcoBoost or 5.0L engines, 2020-2022 Transit vehicles with 3.5L EcoBoost engine having charging system diagnostics performed in the Workshop Manual (WSM) may experience the generator voltage desired (GENVDSD) parameter identification (PID) missing from the powertrain control module (PCM) PID list in the FDRS. This may be due to a software parameter in the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM.

Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may experience a lack of steering assist upon start-up along with a Steering Assist Fault message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U3001:89 and U3000:96 in the power steering control module (PSCM). This may be due to low voltage at the PSCM. Power steering assist will be restored when sufficient voltage is supplied. To clear the DTCs using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS), select and run the PSCM - Reset the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) application. Once cleared, cycle the ignition to verify normal system operation. If the DTCs return, refer to Workshop Manual Section 211-02 for normal diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 3504.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with the branded B and O audio the rear speaker audio may appear to have reduced sound. Fading audio volume to the rear speakers/reduced audio volume from rear speakers is an operating characteristic of the B and O audio system. If the audio control module (ACM) and digital signal processing (DSP) module passes the Self-Test and Network Test without any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) setting as hard faults, no further diagnostics is recommended.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost engine and built on or before 18-Apr-2022 may experience a loss of engine coolant with possible engine overheat and/or illuminated malfunction indicator (MIL). This may be due to a crack in the exhaust heat exchanger coolant spigots on the top of the exhaust heat exchanger. The exhaust heat exchanger coolant spigots are now released and should be serviced in pairs. It is no longer necessary to replace the muffler inlet pipe assembly for this type of concern. Workshop Manual, Section 309-00D has been updated to include a new service procedure. For claiming, use causal part 5A212 and applicable labor operations in Section 05 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. Heat exchanger coolant spigots - NL3Z-18663-A (2 req).

When diagnosing and repairing brake noise conditions, use the Workshop Manual (WSM) and the appropriate pinpoint test in section 206-00. The brake rotors should only be machined if directed by the WSM because one or more of the following conditions are present on the braking surface: scoring, excessive corrosion/rust or pitting, bluing/discoloration and/or heat spots.
