Over the past year my Bronco Sport has thrown two different codes, powertrain malfunction and collision assist unavailable, and put me in limp mode, 25 times. And the last several times it has gone into limp mode it is accompanied by a weird smell. It has been on the hoist several times at the Ford dealership Service Center having parts replaced to “fix” this issue. But nothing they try has fixed it. They even had a Ford Corporate technician call and walk them through what to try/test/fix. It’s been on the hoist being “fixed” again a couple of times since then. They said they would fly a Ford Engineer out to “fix” it over a month ago but have not done so. It’s terrifying when it goes in to limp mode because I can’t GO. I just pray I don’t get slammed in to every time it throws these codes and puts me in limp mode. The most recent occurrence was just today!

Upon attempting to start vehicle every warning indicator flashed in series across the screen and the SUV would not start nor was the vehicle lockable. Also, the rear door and access glass (where tools, safety equipment, and spare tire is located) could not be opened. The vehicle would not start and could not be placed in neutral to push the vehicle to a safe location. The manufacturer informed me a "failure to communicate" was indicated in their system. Had this occurred in an unsafe location such as on a highway or in a physically dangerous location occupants would be placed in danger from other moving vehicles and/or criminal activity. Operators of this model MUST 1.) Be able to place the vehicle in neutral when needed. 2.) Be able to manually open the rear liftgate and/or rear glass to obtain safety and repair equipment. 3.) Be able to manually lock the vehicle as needed to secure both occupants and contents. I have scheduled a maintenance visit/repair with an authorized Ford dealer in Joplin, Missouri to address multiple instances of "Loss of Communication" as reported to Ford Motor Corp.

The dashboard and screen when black while I was driving down the highway. I was unable yo see my speed. I found a safe spot to pull the car over to see what was going on and the car would not start again. After jumping the car it still would not start then it had to be towed to ford where they still can’t figure out was wrong.

Continue to get "Rear Seatbelt Error." I can not safely transport children or adults as this is unsafe. Then, going to Ford to get it even looked at takes weeks, and during that time, they do not allow for a rental car.

My 2021 Bronco Sport suddenly died on [XXX]. The parking brake engaged unexpectedly, locking all four brakes and resulting in a significant skid mark. An error message flashed: “Park Not Available. Apply Park Brake Before Exiting,” and the park gear light blinked. I turned off the engine again, but the car was dead when I tried to restart it. After getting a jump start, the car turned on. However, the parking brake engaged again shortly after. I was able to drive it off the road. My wife, a research librarian, found that many others have reported issues related to “Sudden Death Syndrome." See below. [XXX] [XXX] ). The car was towed from PA, where we were visiting, to Stanford Ford, where we purchased it on [XXX]. On 11/13, the dealership told us there was a short circuit in the wiring connected to the solenoid and estimated $900.00 for labor. At noon on 11/15, the technician was test-driving the car. By 4:17 PM, I was told it was ready. 5 min. later, they told me it wasn't ready due to another issue. At 11:15am on 11/18, we were informed the issue was a short circuit in the transmission, costing $13,000. How is that possible? The car is only three years old! We've faced many recalls with this car, the last just this past August, but the most dangerous issue is the unexpected engagement of the parking brakes, causing chaotic behavior. Given the number of similar incidents, it's hard to believe there hasn't been a recall. We could have been injured or even killed if we had been driving over 40 mh and driving in heavy traffic, or worse, on the highway. I've experienced 3 of these Vehicle Network Communication Errors while driving, two of which were recent and after the problem was supposedly fixed at the dealership. Most recent event failure event occured 11/14/24 during rain. This is a frightening and serious problem. The car is back at the dealership now, awaiting inspection again since their first fix wasn't a fix. While driving there are sudden alerts as half a dozen errors flash/display sequentially on the dash, including warnings as Pre collision assist unavailable, Hill Assist, Service AdvanceTrac, the wrench symbol with See Manual, etc. Then the dash and controls go totally black and the screen displays the Vehicle Network Communication Error and everything (except the engine and wipers apparently) shuts down, No defroster, spedo, tach, heater, turn signals, exterior lights? Basically driving becomes very unsafe and scary, without safety. I have pictures and a video my wife took while riding with me the second time this happened. When I get home and shut off the car, wait awhile, it partially resets itself but still displays the wrench symbol and service Advance Trac idiot lights illuminated. Overnight it seems to reset totally, until the next episode. Its exhibited thie failure when sunny and dry and also when it rains, so seemingly not an environmental cause. This is extremely dangerous since no defroster or lights/signals, gauges, spedometer. So far the engine has kept running so I can at least head home and get off the road. I see there is an NHSTA investigation on Broncos for power loss. Please add my complaint for investigation of this serious defect. I would be glad to discuss further if helpful. Thanks!

In September my dad was driving my car in eco mode and the wrench light came on. I got an alert in my ford app that there was a transmission problem and lack of power issue. My dad and husband were in CO at the time with my car. They took it to a dealership and the light had gone off they said it was pulling turbo codes. They drove it back to AR and I took it in the shop and they said nothing was wrong and couldn’t find an issue. I did have the recall for loss of power fixed in May. When the light came on in the car in September there was a noticeable loss of power. I requested the redo the recall but they declined. I have not had a light come back on since then.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V267000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but was unable to confirm when the parts would become available. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked and attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the engine compartment. The Fire Department was called, and the engine temperature was checked inside and outside the vehicle and it was determined that the engine had overheated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed and it was determined that the water pump was leaking, the alternator had overheated, and the battery had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 32,468.

Exhaust is coming into the cabin through the air vent a/c intake. This is unhealthy, and poses a health risk. Ford has yet to acknowledge the problem. I’ve been to the dealer once and they said it was fixed, but the fumes remain unchanged. I have heard that other owners are having the same issue.

My vehicle was emitting fumes into my vehicle and making a strange noise. When I took it to the dealership they tested the emissions/catalytic converter and fuel injectors. Which all showed no issues. When investigating further, they found that the weld on the catalytic converter had broke and was causing an unstable catalytic converter. Service manager reported to me that he felt this was definitely a manufactured defect and said if I hit a bear that shouldn’t have been an issue. No bear was hit and there was NO incident at all. Just driving to and from work.

My ford bronco stalled when I was slowing down at a traffic light. The entire car shutdown. The steering wheel locked up and the car could not be put into neutral. After about 15 minutes the car was able to turn on again. The stalling out at an intersection put me in danger by putting me in a situation where I was stuck in active traffic without the ability to move my car to a safe area off of the main road. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the car completely shutting off at the traffic light.

I have had my 2022 Ford Bronco Sport for two years and four months. I have maintained my car very well, doing all of the recommendations that the dealership told me throughout the years. However, out of no where on Friday, November 1st, 2024 my transmission went without any signs or symptoms beforehand. This is a two year old car, this issue should not be happening.

I take very good care of my car and I purchased it brand new in July of 2022. Out of nowhere a few days ago I had my car slipping of gear and won’t go forward or backwards and then my car proceeded to have the service light pop on and then my check engine light. I do not have all of the diagnostics back yet, but they did say it was transmission related. My car isn’t even 2 1/2 years old. It should not be running into issues out of no where like this.
