The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated that water was coming from underneath the driver’s side dashboard. Additionally, the steering wheel was jerking while the lane assist feature was activated; however, the vehicle was not veering to the left or right side of the lane. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and several failure codes were retrieved, and a water test was performed; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was repaired; however, while the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The driver pulled over to the shoulder of the road, and after selecting the 2WD feature, the 4WD feature was disengaging, even though the 4WD warning light was not illuminated. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Chevrolet of Troy (1375 S Market St, Troy, OH 45373) for a second opinion. The contact was informed that DTC: U1611 was retrieved, and several unknown repairs were needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

2026 6.2L engine loud and oil filter is filled with bearing glitter. I know you have recently opened an investigation into 2025 and 2026 GM 6.2L engines also failing. The salesman lied and told me the issues were all fixed. How is a company allowed to lie and put my family at risk with a faulty engine. I am driving and engine that is shedding bearing material for 3 oil changes. This will fail and leave me stranded or create an accident. 1st oil change at 1500, second at 6000, 3rd at 10,500 and oil is full of bearing material. Pics attached

I FOUND A FUEL PUMP RECALL N192283991 SAID FOR CERTAIN 2019-2020 SILVERADO MODELS IT APPEARS I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS HAVE NOT CHECKED WITH A DEALER YET. TRUCK WILL HAVE TO BE TOWED.

My truck lost steering as I was trying to pull into a parking lot. It started as a momentary jerking of the steering wheel then total loss of steering. The ABS error and Trailer Braking failure warning also appeared. After 4 to 5 restarts of the truck the steering came back. If this was to happen at high speed it would have been very bad. I feel this is definetly a safety issue..

The stereo screen face failed, with warning signs in foreign languages. An inspection was completed and it was confirmed that the module behind the screen attempted to update and burned out. When this system update failed it continued to run power resulting in a dead battery. luckily there was another vehicle around to jump start the vehicle but if someone is out of cell service or doesn't have a jump box serious issues can arise. There are many cases of this happening online with other GMC products. A dealership has confirmed the module burned out. A claim has been filled with GM customer service but no investigations have occurred. Nothing came up until after the battery died and the screen failed after the vehicle was jumped.

While stopped at a highway red light, the vehicle jolted forward and numerous dash lights came on, including messages saying “Brake System Failure, Service ESC, Service Trailer Brake, Service Parking Brake, Engine Power Reduced, Power Steering Reduced.” This is the first time any of these messages have ever appeared. This made the vehicle incredibly difficult to steer and the braking ability was almost non-existent. Had this happened one minute earlier or later, a multi-vehicle and potentially fatal accident would likely have occurred. Vehicle was towed to a dealer who confirmed the error messages and severely reduced performance. To me, this seems consistent with GM service bulletins PIT5730 and 20-NA-073. The dealer, however, is quoting me $3,700 to repair the master cylinder and electronic control braking module. Whatever the case, this absolutely needs to be upgraded to a recall before this happens to somebody at the wrong time.

I was driving on the freeway and got a service trailer brake system and a brake system failure 62mph top speed. I exited the freeway and came to a stop sign and hit my brakes to stop but was unable to stop and blew through the stop sign. Luckily there were no cars at the intersection and I was by myself.

NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT Vehicle: 2022 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 Trail Boss Engine: 6.2L V8 VIN: [XXX] Selling Dealer: Harris Hankins Chevrolet, Bay Springs, Mississippi I purchased this 2022 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 Trail Boss from Harris Hankins Chevrolet in Bay Springs, Mississippi. The truck is equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine and has experienced repeated and serious engine failures. The vehicle is currently operating on its third engine. The original factory-installed engine suffered a major engine failure at approximately 27,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to a Chevrolet dealership, where the original engine was replaced. The second engine failed within approximately 30 miles of leaving the dealership following the first engine replacement. This failure resulted in the vehicle requiring another engine replacement. The truck is now operating with its third engine. I have periodically noticed abnormal valvetrain noise coming from this third engine. Considering that the first two engines experienced major failures, I am very concerned that this abnormal valvetrain noise may indicate another developing engine problem or potential engine failure. This 2022 Chevrolet Silverado has therefore experienced two major engine failures at very low mileage and is now on its third engine, which is periodically exhibiting abnormal valvetrain noise. I believe these repeated engine failures represent a serious vehicle safety concern. A sudden engine failure or loss of propulsion while traveling at highway speeds or in traffic could create a dangerous situation for the driver, passengers, and other motorists. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) formally document my vehicle’s history and investigate these repeated failures involving the Chevrolet/GM 6.2L V8 engine. The dealership has the service records and repair documentation concerning the previous engine failures and engine replacements. While driving on the road, the transmission in my truck completly neutralized all the gears (meaning it just started revving and slowing down rapidly in the middle of the road with cars in front of and behind me). And almost got me hit by several cars. I got the vehicle towed to the Chevy dealership it was bought from. The mechanics then confirmed the code was for a failed valve body in the trucks transmission. Which they had recalled in all the diesels but not gas engines.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power. The message "Shift to Neutral and Restart" was displayed. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure progressed. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer and remained at the dealer for additional diagnostic tests. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that prior to the failure, while hauling a trailer, the message "Reduced Power" was momentarily displayed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

I had the 6.2 engine replaced at 38k miles. Now at 78k miles my new engine replacement is using 1.5qrt of oil within 4k miles. I am being told i have to watch the oil every 800 miles and report back to Chevrolet. I feel my investment is completely a loss of $60,000.00 + . I was told by the service tech that i will probaly have to have another engine replaced again.. My resale value is NO WHERE near worth anything and I am stuck.

Vehicle went into reduced power mode and was taken to the dealership. They had to tear down the motor to diagnose the problem and determined it was the crankshaft and the motor needed to be replaced. It was out of factory warranty however it has an extended warranty and the warranty covered 80% of the repair. We still had to pay over $3k out of pocket. Vehicle is now making engine noises again and will be getting taken back to the dealership to be looked at. Currently not part of the recall however truck was built at the Mexico plant in question. We believe it may have the faulty components as well.

I was driving down a main road going 40-45 mph. I made a left turn into a retail shopping center, went straight for about 100 feet and turned right into the main shopping center street and the truck immediately just shut off. I don’t remember seeing the car go into park, but I do remember it going into more of a neutral state with the engine completely off and the brakes were not locked since the car rolled back a little bit at first. My wife and I were both in awe as to what just happened. Thankfully, we were not on the main road and were able to turn the car back on and it seemed to be fine after that and shifted into drive with no issues. It hasn’t happened since. The car probably had approximately 2000 miles on it at the time.

In Late December 2025, with only 764 miles on my 2026 Chev truck, we were driving south on [XXX] down the interstate in Utah. The engine lost power, service enging light soon came on, and the truck came to a stop in about a mile. There were 5 of us in the truck. Late night, in a strange town. We had to take a UBER to the motel. The truck was towed to Murdock Chevrolet in Woods Cross, Ut. They gave us a lowner car, and they took the engine out, and sent it to GM. GM took the engine apart, and said verably that a crankshaft bearing went bad, and they sent a new one. Within 30 days, I had my truck back. I asked for paperwork on the repairs, and was told GM would not give me anything. All I got was my truck. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I applied brake and pedal went straight to floor without any stopping. I had to steer into a ditch to avoid a collision resulting in more damage to steering system, frame, windshield and body. This was complete brake system failure and yes is available for inspection. I was in a very rural area at time and was able to avoid a collision however, if I had been in city or on highway it could have easily resulted in injury or fatalities. The problem is currently under federal investigation and has been widely reported as a serious problem which may soon result in widespread recall. The vehicle has not been inspected yet by dealership or anywhere else as it just happened 18 hours ago. There were no warning lights or chimes before the incident when pedal went to the floor. After incident dashboard lit up with warning lights including, Brake, ABS, Traction control, power steering, Collision system, Engine light, Steering Column and others. Truck speed limited to 43 mph. And pedal still goes to the floor without applying brakes.

Rear tailgate does not open and sometimes will show a warning on the dash that the tailgate is open when it is not. The tailgate for the heavy duty 2500/3500 trucks were recalled for the same reason but not the 1500 trucks. This is a common issue on the truck forums and is an unsafe condition.
