FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I received a notice from Acura that the defective fuel pump replacement parts are now available and I should schedule the free repair with my dealership. When I called my Acura dealer (Chapman Acura) in Tucson, AZ I was told they did not have any parts. When I asked if they could let me know when they would be available, I was informed they did not know when any replacement parts would be available and that I should call back in a few weeks. Chapman Acura is the only Acura dealer in Tucson, AZ.

Myself and family members were getting into my vehicle. The drivers side door was closed and the rear windshield spontaneously shattered. There were no cracks or defects in the windshield prior to this occurring. I see that there is currently a class action lawsuit against Honda as other drivers have experienced similar issues with spontaneous shattering of the rear windshield. Fortunately, nobody was injured as the incident occurred while stationary, but this could have the potential to be very dangerous as it caused quite a startle. If we were in motion, I could see how it could pose potential for accidents. The shattered glass also fell on my child’s stroller which has required careful inspection and cleaning to ensure no glass remained for our child to be exposed to.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The low beam headlights are not bright enough for safe driving in normal weather. They register as not on. In rain and wet pavement - they are highly dangerous and it’s very difficult to see lane markings or for any distance in front of the car. At higher speeds on the highway - it’s even more concerning. I’ve had them checked when I bought the car for alignment and replaced the bulbs with high definition bulbs. I’ve also had the lenses professionally cleaned all with no improvement. I have to drive around with my high beams on constantly and in fog and rain and this is sometimes also problematic. It’s so unsafe and you don’t think to check “if the headlights are good enough “ when you buy a car. It’s not something that should vary. It’s a clear and present manufacturing and safety issue that could end lives.

Low beam headlight internal reflectors have degraded and light have become very dim. Dangerous to drive at night or in bad weather. aThe car cannot be operated at night. Dealer replacement is $3,000, making the car value negative. The car otherwise is drivable but this defect makes the car unsuitable for use.

The contact owns a 2020 Acura RDX. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and turned off, it was later discovered that the rear liftgate window had shattered without impact. The cause of the failure was not determined and the window was later replaced by the local Satellite company. Approximately two years later while the vehicle was parked and turned off the failure reoccurred. The cause of the failures was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Rear windshield spontaneously shattered for the SECOND time in less than 3 years while it was parked in my driveway. There was no external impact or foreign objects that may have caused it. I called an Acura dealership immediately and they acknowledged that this is a known issue with Acura RDXs, but since there’s no recall and my warranty ended, they refused to help fix the issue. Went to a local auto shop and they also pointed out this has been a common issue with Acura RDXs. This is extremely dangerous and unsafe for drivers and passengers.

The contact owns a 2020 Acura RDX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

In the headlight assembly the main headlight bowls are deteriorated/defective. The amount of light that the regular low beams or high beams provide at night is insufficient. This makes driving at night with the factory assembly lights highly dangerous.

Car was parked in driveway of residence. Opened the driver's door and got in. Upon closing the driver's door, the back windshield shattered/exploded. The car was not running when this happened. The window that broke was on a door that had not even been opened. (There is a video that will be forwarded). There is a know technical service bulletin (TSB 22-014) that Acura is aware however, when contact was made to Acura customer service, I was informed that yes there is a known issue, but my win number is not one of the vehicles impacted by the known issue.

The rear window shattered on its own!!!. I had it replaced but not all the glass debris could be removed and it is trapped inside the trunk door (lift gate), unreachable, because the way the door was manufactured. The body shop says the entire lift gate needs to be replaced. How is it possible that the customers have the pay for the repairs of this manufacturing defect! Every time I open the lift gate I can hear a lot of glass moving inside. I will never be able to resale this car if this is not fixed. As it stands, many Acura RDX owner have this huge issue!!!!

Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness
Please see attached photos regarding unsafe issue with our Britax 1 for life clicktight carseat purchased 2021 and utilized from the end of 2021 to Dec. 2024. The harness strap would not tighten with ease, so I tugged with light force and the bolts that held the button to loosen the harness popped out. The harness then would not tighten at all. We threw the seat away but wanted to report the issue to you out of concern for others who are still utilizing this seat.

2019 Acura RDX. purchased in March 2019. In September 2021, the rear windshield/glass exploded on its own while parked in our driveway. My wife started the vehicle and turned on the front and back defrosters. While waiting for all glass to be visibly clear, the rear windhshield exploded without being struck by anything. Windshield was repaired, however, small pieces of broken glass still remain inside the tailgate panel, and both dealership and glass replacment facility reprensetatives indicated that the way the rear tailgate is desiged, it is impossible to get every piece of glass out. Since September 2021 till now, you can hear pieces of glass moving around inside the rear tailgate, as if they were Maracas playing in a Latin band. On 12/22/24, this time while driving the vehicle, we heard a very loud 'gunshot' sound coming from the rear of the car. The noise was so startling that my wife's natural reaction (she was operating the vehicle at the time) was to duck, and in so doing, she pulled the steering wheel to the right (in the direction that my wife leaned). Thankfully there were no pedestrians, vehicles, or any object. Quickly after regaining control, she pulled over only to realize the rear windshield glass had shattered, yet again. In calling the dealership, I'm told the vehicle is out of warranty, and there is nothing that can be done. In 2021, while the vehicle was under manufacturer's warranty, they still did nothing, hence the reason why it was repaired at a facility in the secondary market. This repair will now cost me $623.
